Octavia.......this is JAK......I wish you good fortune in your quest. You will have to love yourself enough to have the strength you need. You do have talent, but now you have to have courage to deny yourself the comfort that food brings and think of the joy you can experience with every size you go down. Believe me it is pure ecstasy to find your clothes getting too loose. And find that you can climb stairs and not have to worry about whether a chair will hold you.

I know what I'm talking about......I had a medical condition that had me on steroids 10 long years. When that was resolved I had to become the real me again........to say it was hard isn't near enough to describe it..........but it was worth it and every size I went down was so encouraging, now when I slip on my jeans and a shirt that doesn't gap between the buttons it's a moment of joy to celebrate.

You can do it, it's hard as hell, but feels like heaven eventually.

Hope she will get well eventually... Not an easy path but a necessary path to greater things in life !

Such an inspiring girl! She knows what she has to do and is determined to do it. Her life and career depend on it. Nice to hear that her gig with Adam was paying quite well. Shows that he and his entourage do command a good fee to perform. I wish Octavia all the luck in the world. I've had my share of health issues, too, and a good attitude can help A LOT!

P.S. JAK -10 years on steroids, that must have been wicked. They can be a life saver or a killer! Glad you are okay.

What a great decision to value yourself and go after your dreams. I don't know if Octavia visits this site, but I am pulling for her and believe she will do it. She deserves to live her life without discomfort and pain. How difficult it had to be to give up the opportunity to tour with Adam because of health issues. She certainly has the voice and beautiful soul. I'm sure her family loves her dearly, but maybe they have been beaten down or lack her bravery and belief in themselves. You have to believe and know you're worth it and can do anything if you want it badly enough. I know she will have many opportunities to share her talent with us and I hope she'll be able to sing with Adam again soon!

I had seen a few videos of Keisha, Adam's backup singer on a treadmill while on tour. She's another with talent and traveling is grueling when you have extra weight affecting breathing, stamina and sometimes unkind remarks from thoughtless people that don't understand the struggles. Macaroni and cheese and fried chicken is really good and hard to give up if it's always accessible and those around you are eating it. I have a friend that's in that situation and her entire family is over weight, all enabling each other. I liken it to someone trying to quit smoking when all around you there are smokers. Old habits are hard to break, but always possible, especially with moral support. @JAK I know what steroids can do and how tough it had to be living with those effects. I took them for a very bad case of Shingles in my head last August, but took them only for a few weeks and didn't have any bad effects, just from other RX.

Octavia has a great voice and I wish her all the very best in whatever she wants to achieve.
