Does anyone know anymore about this. It's a paragraph from 'After Elton"
I already have serious doubts about Sacha Baron Cohen playing Freddie Mercury, and adding Les Mis' Tom Hooper as director really isn't helping. Plus, there are rumors that rather than use actual Freddie Mercury audio for performances, Cohen might actually try and sing himself (outside of Adam Lambert, most people who attempt Mercury fail miserably), and if Hooper decides to have Cohen sing live, well, we know how that turns out.

I was so busy copying and pasting I forgot to put my name, tea, on the post about 'After Elton.

Never mind, try to ignore my posts about a Freddie Mercury movie. I apologize for cluttering up 24/7 with it. If the person with the power wants to delete me, that would be fine.

@ tea Why would you think we are not interested. It is relevant to Adam and a huge compliment about Adam being one of the only artists that can sing in place of Freddie so well!

JAK here....didn't read the After Elton....but I do know that this Mercury movie has been "in the works" for almost 2 years...and that Cohen was chosen not only for a slight resemblance to Freddie, but he had sung in stage musicals and at the time they planned to use his voice. I have no idea what has caused it to be delayed over and over. But, if they change their mind, I have no doubt Adam could preen and strut and swish and be as completely over the top as Freddie! Cape, crown and all!... Plus, we know he can sing better than Cohen!

I've heard that Cohen is quite an accomplished singer. In LesMis he and Helen Bonham Carter were supposed to sound terrible. (And they were both very good at it. lol) I think we've all underestimted Cohen's talents because of all the rediculous stunts he's pulled.

I'm not so sure I'd like to see Adam play Freddie in a movie...that would really turn a lot of people off. I can hear it all now..."Of course they have to get a gay singer to play gay Freddie." I'd rather Adam be seen on SNL or in a light hearted comedy than playing Freddie. But if offered, I don't think he'd turn it down.

@2:46 - I also read that over at afterelton (my go-to site after 24/7). I dont want Adam playing Freddie either even if he has the voice for it. . . . Adamluv

Chokehold is a stunning song and should have been a single. Grammy worthy.

I think if Adam were to play Freddie Mercury, he would forever be known as that gay Idol singer who played a gay performer in a movie about Freddie's life. It's obvious he does have the voice, but he could put it to better use recording his third album, doing a collabo with another artist, doing some concerts with Queen again and, of course, a new concert tour. I must admit, however, I would love to see Adam on the Broadway stage either in a new musical production or a revival. But I don't think at this point in his career he wants to do that(unless it was some spectacular role he could not pass up). I think I have overdosed on all the videos I have watched of the Helsinki concert and the ones before that. But what a great and safe way to zone out for a while and completely lose yourself in this talented and awesome performer. Now on to the next phase of Adam's career and life.

To anon at 7:04pm- I liked what you said about a great and safe way to zone out for a while losing yourself in the talented Adam Lambert and his music. He is one spectacular performer and I have enjoyed watching all the videos posted here from his WAG tour. If you are not into basketball, golf or car racing on tv and Downton Abbey is no longer on Sunday night, the best thing to do is sit back and enjoy the videos over again selecting your favorite songs. And,yes, I can be an Adam Lambert fan and also enjoying watching Masterpiece Theater too.

i wouldn't mind Adam playing Freddie in the movie....look what it did for Jennifer Hudson playing in Dreamgirls.

Sacha Baron Cohen sang in Sweeney Todd, wasn't that impressed with him in that. Haven't seen him in Les Mis.

I think this movie is a big risk for anyone involved because Freddie is so beloved. Adam playing Freddie or doing Freddie's vocals would reinforce the idea of him as one in a long line of impersonators, swhich he is not. Luckily, director Tom Hopper is unlikely to ask Adam's help.

I thought Sacha Baron Cohen was quite good in Les Miz but don't know how he'll go as Freddie in the movie.

I think SBC, like our wonderful Adam himself, has yet to be seen and discovered untapped talents that would like blow people away... would guess he'll be great in movie, however, he really is NOT Freddie's body type at all! Is he?

Adam said that he would like to do comedies. I would like see him in movies more as a doctor, a psychologist or a philosopher, listening others and talking some wise words :).

No, but he's not Freddies teeth type either! lol
