This particular photo seems quite popular with advertisers; perhaps the surprise element that this Adam photo suggests...What the hell is that...lol!
I just saw some very avant-garde photo-shoot pictures of Adam, pre-tattoo days. Adam can swing from one end to the other of the varied fashion spectrum.
Brings me to the Starchild/Elliot personas. Glee director perhaps needs to marry these two characters, mirroring each other. Right now, Starchild's sudden exit leaves the character hanging in limbo. lol! After watching Starchild's over-the-top MTN performance, and then starkly confronted with the student demeanour of Elliot at the cafe and in the dormitory...it seems too sudden and my brain sort of rejected the all-too-sudden change. In reality, even if people change for whatever purpose, the basic characteristics still remain. So Glee director in further episodes, like Puppet Master, might like to insert some Starchild back into Elliot, to be more convincing; like the artistic, ostentatious, professional image of Starchild, in yet another image/form. And then Elliot will have his wholesome persona intact and Starchild not conveniently thrown out the window. lol! Adam's acting as Starchild and Elliot is superb!! By the way, I'm still watching Adam's Starchild MTN, after 15 times already.

Yea I read Adam inserted, actor, in his resume; actually to me he's as much an actor as a singer, perhaps the latter being his insignia. I've seen his other acting stints and sometimes even argue with those who say he's not. Now he's going to jump onto the worldwide panorama screen. And that will in fact mark planting his Adam flag on Mt Everest or Mt Fuji or Matterhorn etc. Mmm I've been to the latter two...majestic!

Lam-my, that was so funny-Adam's picture captioned, "What the hell is that?" You are spot on in your analysis of the Starchild versus Elliott characters. How can they make Starchild's over the top, insanely ostentatious, outermost planetesimal, totally irrestible personality exit stage left? They made us fall in maddened love with his eye candy and then snatched the colorful lollipop out of the bag, to leave a tasty little lemon drop to satiate our lust. As in, "Excuse me, would you like a glass of fine champagne or a sip of sangria with your lobster?" Starchild is now embedded in our souls and we clamor for more. Of course, the fact remains that we will accept Adam in any form, but they created a heavenly monster that deserves a second shot at his shooting star. Glee will never regret the return of Starchild should they make that decision. Such a genius character. Margarita Lady

Oh,Lam-my, I wanted to tell you that I went to the Matterhorn twice. In 1997, I went on a mountain climbing expedition to Switzerland and I wanted to ask you if you got to go to the beautiful grave yard where all the climbers who died in their efforts to climb the Matterhorn are buried? What an inspirational grave yard that was-many young climbers buried there with incredible epitaphs carved on their tombstones-a particular one etched in my memory forever, "BORN TO CLIMB". It was lovely that you stated Adam will plant his flag on the top-absolutely no grave yard for him! Margarita Lady

Hey Margarita Lady
It was a coach tour of Europe and so the coach took us up the beautiful Alps. It was a very long time ago, but I remember looking down from half-way up the Alps, so steep and majestic. The guide pointed out the beautiful shape of the peak of the Matterhorn...very strikingly 'handsome'. No, we were not taken to the graveyard you mentioned, must be so mystic. Yea, BORN TO CLIMB, very inspirational. Now you really make me see Adam planting his flag on that shapely handsome horn of a mountain. lwl!
Regarding Starchild, it's not too late in the series, because Puppet Master sounds pretty Starchild and so that wildness hopefully will surface again. It depends on how the Director wants Puppet Master to pan out. Your analogy of the lollipop/lemon drop and fine champaign/sangria...made me laugh, quirky but apt, exactly that. lol! When I saw Elliot so stripped of Starchild at the cafe and domitory, my heart actually sank like you said the lemon drop didn't quite work lol! We want back the big lollipop. lol!

Starchild is now in limbo and we are indulging in delicious lemon drops...this sure sounds weird. lol! But I have faith in Adam to salvage Starchild out of limbo. lol!

I hope Starchild is gone for good.
The character of Elliott is a better bet to engage the young audience that Glee has. Even Adam said the outfit was ridiculous and that type of rock star disappeared 20 years ago.

If the character continues the outdated persona I think it would be a big mistake. I say let him be current and cool and today!

Read more carefully and stop misinterpreting. No one says to bring Starchild back. I'm saying in reality even if a person changes drastically, there will still be some semblance of the original person. Right now Starchild and Elliot are like two entirely different persons in the story; not so convincing. Not necessary to bring back Starchild as a character per se but the image and characteristics of Starchild can be replicated in another persona or character played by Elliot. Perhaps as the Puppet Master, not sure about this character.

When I say bring back Starchild, I am not talking at all about his crazy outfit. I am talking about his vivacious, outstanding love of life personality. I went straight to the audience to get my opinion authenticated, which this audience was a lot of 18 year olds at the university. I had asked a few of my clients (young university students) to try to find out from other students what their opinions were of Starchild. They LOVED him and felt he really brought a breath of fresh air to the program. I didn't get one "nay" from the kids. Again, I reiterate, the return of Starchild's vibrant personality that breathes life into a lot of already used songs is solely of what I speak. No rocket science brain needed here. Margarita Lady

Whoa, Margarita Lady, you actually float the Starchild character to get feedback in the university! Serious stuff...lwl! Yes this is pretty good authentication; so Adam reaches the younger demographic via Glee. :)

I think the Starchild character was a homage to the real Adam. He will be Elliot Gilbert in Glee, but it gave Adam an opportunity to show his glam side which many of us love. The Elliot vs Starchild effect is brilliant to me because it gives the viewer a glimpse of the many sides of Adam. He is able display his acting chops and play a multifaceted role. I think Starchild works very well.

The Starchild character gave Adam an opportunity to poke fun at his glam self. He's moved on. Onward and upward? I misinterpret, that's funny since you psychoanalyze every thread!

Anonymous said...

Okay regardless what is correctly interpreted or not...Let me give you some well-founded and accepted norm of how to carry on a proper argument: Don'r attack the person! Attack the issue at hand. Therefore you telling me I psycho-analyse every thread is a direct personal attack and not about the issue at hand. Irrelevant! Also, you are free to psycho-analyse or talk about whatever you wish on every thread too...so why the finger-pointing? You see, the minute you deviate out of the actual topic, which is about Starchild and not about me! you lose the argument because you deviated! No points for that in any debate.

Lam-my way too often you make yourself the issue at hand in any comment.

Anonymous said...

Please specify with an example; I usually stay close to the issue at hand as far as possible. If you make a sweeping statement like that, you need to specify or explain yourself so that I might give reasons on your hollow accusation! Also if you wish to carry on a lengthy argument, please furnish a name-tag; it's cowardly to snipe from the dark and just shoot with no substantiation whatsoever.
