YES!!! Great tweets. Always can count on Adam to cancel out all the trolls' speculations. Would give anything to attend these rehearsals.

All I can say is: THANK GOODNESS Adam let us know how he feels, so we can get on with the summer!!! And enjoy all of the amazing things that are happening for Adam this year...

Gotta say I'm pretty EXCITED too!!!

I'll read between the lines (or winks) and wait for his new stuff.

9:34 I am doing like-wise but I am glad he addressed it the way he did and now everybody can move on.

Adam is proud of his recordings. The wink meant that his endorsement of the release was political. He can't tell his fans not to but it. He realizes the sony is doing a cash grab. But he's supporting it just so it doesn't cause any drama in the fandom.

He answered in a diplomatic way, and of course he does believe in his own music. He is not in any way gonna make any waves with Sony. He cannot do anything about the CD, Sony is releasing it not him.
He sounds excited about the rehearsals starting, and working with Brian and Roger again. Also to have the pleasure of flying around to the venues in their jet.
He did mention that if he sings Dragon Attack, we will not see the red jacket again.

Friday is payday:) Gonna order few CD for myself, gifts, and donations. After all, I have these feelings that Adam will get a few $$$ from this CD sales. And he'll get more popularity and attention.

I have no doubt that Adam is proud of his music and that is truly the important thing when you get right down to it.. .

I also got the "wink".

But endless debate about the "Best Of" album isn't going to help Adam in the long run, or change the past...

I'm still taking Shoshanna Stone's advice. "If you'll enjoy it, buy it. If not, don't.." ... Guessing that's what Adam is saying too....

Anonymous said...

I noticed the winky face too, thought about it, and came to the conclusion that it can only be a positive thing for Adam even if Sony makes the money. I actually want the album. The fact that it will be released in May as a "best of" won't compete with new album later this year either.

Anonymous said...

Adam uses the wink emoticon all the time. Go back and look at his tweets. He uses it like a regular smiley.

Anonymous said...

Oh, for pete's sake and please don't start now speculating what he meant for real and how he uses or not uses the 'winky'....
And for the record the speculation about the record was not down to trolls only, half of the fandom (at least) is to 'blame' as well...js.
I'm not a troll nor a speculator. I also suggested why not ask the man directly...to end the speculation....

The Glambert has spoken.

Adam usually uses a winky so it's a normal thing from him, no hidden messages.

I'm so excited to hear that Adam is ready for the tour indeed!!!:) The 3rd album will rock us again with a big bang!!:)

Going with the throw and moving on. Using a positive on the RCA release for promotional wonderment but soooooo moving forward.

wink wink say no more!

Adam winks a lot. Maybe he thought the questioner had a cute avatar.

Anonymous said...

I am moving on for anticipation of his new music and Queen and Adam Lambert tour.

Adam is accepting this situation graciously and probably hoping he'll get some good promotion from it. Being released close to the beginning of the tour kind of hypes it up even more. The best news is that he's working on his new music and sounds very confident about it. That's the best news ever!

;) is a closed mouth smile

Sony couldn't persuade Adam to record a covers album so they're getting their pound of flesh by releasing an Adam "Very Best of ..." album instead. Hopefully, this album will be good publicity for Adam.

Anonymous said...

Adam is above all that, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Anonymous said...

O K now I will buy it and hope he will make money off the sales

Anonymous said...

I don't think the term pound of flesh is appropriate here, but I am not someone who thinks Sony fucked adam over. In fact I think they did their best but at the end of the day they are just a business wanting to make a profit. Fans acting like he has been so mistreated really annoy me.

So he winked ;) did he help with the selection?

So, to put this whole "The Very Best of Adam Lambert" album in perspective, nearly ALL of Sony/RCA recording artists have, at one time or another, had "The Very Best Of" recordings put together under the Sony Legacy Playlist title..

That includes Billy Joel, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson, Shakira, etc..etc.. etc... I think it's rather nice that Adam is included in the ranks of the greats and the popular artists, both current and past artists, and now has his own "Very Best Of".. He's joining some very prestigious ranks of recording artists... And yes, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and so many others are represented as well..

I suspect too that another reason Sony is doing this now, is that Adam will soon be (if not already) signing with another label, and of course he's doing the tour with Queen this year.. and getting ready to release a new album...etc.. And he had that great run on GLEE. The clincher being that Sony Legacy can ONLY include songs that are recorded under their own label(s) (Sony, RCA, Columbia)... So this is the optimum time for them to release this CD...

Adam probably will see little actual profit himself from this release, other than perhaps royalties from writing credits on a few of the songs, but PERHAPS people will see it listed on Amazon (not sure if it'll be released to stores or listed on iTunes as an mp3, etc...haven't seen anything about that...) and if they buy, listen to and like his music, perhaps it will lead to them buying Adam's other music... ie his earlier albums: FYE and Trespassing.. And then his new upcoming album.. And of course, it's a great gifting opportunity for us to slip one to our friends :))))

I really see no downside to this.. Sure, Sony is most likely seeing this as a VERY timely opportunity to release this, but what the heck!!! Pretty sure it's a win for Adam too....in the long run. And I doubt this is the last time we see this type of release for Adam.. Someday we'll be celebrating a release of "Adam Lambert's Greatest Hits", just like Queen has been doing.. They've sold over 6 million of their "Queen's Greatest Hits" and that's nothing to sneeze at.. Different type of release, but still....

Here's what Sony Legacy says about this Playlist Series, somewhat paraphrased, from Wikipedia..:

"The Playlist website explains that instead of just "collecting the hits" and releasing them in a greatest hits-type album, the series instead compiles "key tracks, whether a chart-topping smash or a hidden rarity" to give the listener a more profound understanding of the artist and their career. By balancing "familiar favorites with deeper more revelatory selections", the series is able to cater equally to both those who are being introduced to an artist, and those who are simply being reacquainted. The albums cover a vast range of genres including rock, pop, country and jazz. In considering the 21st century music fan, the Playlist series have packaged all their produce in "100% recycled and recyclable eco-friendly no plastic digi-paks" "

I don't think that Adam actually endorsed this as I think someone note on a previous post; but he is graciously accepting it; because it is what it is; and Adam is not prone to burn bridges; especiallly when lyou are trying to make it in the music industry. He also probably sees glass half full! Adam is getting so much attention from this. Over on Adam Official there are so many outlets posted; and radio stations reporting about this. I could not read them all.

My major hope is that when Adam's Album #3 arrives, he will get as much, and a lot more free publicity!

Adam is so exciting in the ordinary world of entertainment. Everybody knows it; whether they want to admit it or not! Great human being; inside and out; to know him is to love him!!!

JAK here...I have been scarce a few days because I was so busy gnashing my teeth in disgust and anger at all the posts 'downing' Sony, RCA, Monte. I found it very disturbing that there are so many who always feel Adam is being cheated, betrayed or picked on. Adam understands the music business. He chooses to be part of it. It really disappoints me that so many whine and feel he has been slighted. I came back today hoping the bitterness might be over. Perhaps my hissy-fit isn't over yet...it still disturbs me to see the attitude of 'they done him wrong' still lingers. Is there anything we have seen of his nature that would make you think Adam would encourage this grudge-fest?

I am glad Adam has given us the green light to buy the album because I really want to. He may not get money from this, but any album of his that sells sends a message to the music industry that he is an important musician to watch. I don't know about doing him wrong, but I think the company was stifling Adam and not giving him the opportunity to grow as an artist. That happens sometimes and thank God Adam knew that and left. It would have been worse if he had wasted his energies trying to convince them otherwise.

@3:54 - I usually go with the flow but if you want to go with the throw, you go right ahead!

We aren't children that need to be given long lectures repeatedly.

Anonymous said...

I don't see lectures just expression of opinions. Take or leave it. I like reading different opinions.

Anonymous said...

Well, I'm glad that's over. Adam approves. I just placed my pre-order for 4 copies. Happy Days. Now let's get on talking about the Summer Tour. Where do you think they will hold rehearsals? NYC or LA?

Anonymous said...

The same long lecture on multiple threads.

@Anon 8:04 PM
So..I assume you're speaking about my post at 9:21 AM.

:))

A couple of comments.

1. I posted it on 2 threads because people had questions on 2 threads, and I felt I could help with answering some of them..

2. It wasn't meant to be a "lecture".. It was a combination of some information that I found about Sony Legacy "Playlists, The Very Best Of..." music series. And a couple of personal opinions that I have about the one Sony is releasing of Adam's music.

3. Yep it was long...I'll give you that!!!!!

I hesitated at first but I really want this Best Of Adam etc. because I like most of the tracks and they are in a CD. I'll be playing it in my car on repeat. So I bought it!!!

I'm glad Adam gave us the green light and I think the publicity he's getting so much of is all good. Too bad he won't make money off of it but the publicity is valuable. It shows he is current and Sony is capitalizing on this opportunity. That's the music business. I'm sure Adam knows whats what.

Can any of you honestly say that if Adam had put out an album of rock covers, that you wouldn't have been wild with excitement and rushed to buy it?

That's what his label thought too. A big seller, add to his audience, so that next album of originals would sell better than TP did. They did see Adam as a seller with potential.
Adam just didn't want to do it. His decision. Perhaps he's not always right. Can you wrap your brains around that possibility? Of course he had a right to go, but was it wise to part with one of the biggest labels in music?
