CONCERT REVIEW: One more for Atlantic City!

Adam Lambert (left) joins Queen guitarist Brian May as part of Queen + Adam Lambert, ably taking the part of the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury.                                                                                                                                                    credit: Michael Loccisano / Getty Images as posted on philly.com

Just when you thought you saw the last new review you'll ever see on 24/7 for Q+AL's 2014 North American tour (given that tonight's show in Toronto is a reprise), we got one more for you from The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Wait...Philly?

You may have thought we missed posting this newspaper's coverage of its own city's show from back on the 16th.  But they never published a review.  Until now. But the Atlantic City gig.  Go figure.

Not that we're complaining it's another mostly fantastic review (despite a few lines where the writer attempts the usual 'journalistic wittiness') here are some highlights:

"...octave-crashing range..." [first used to describe Freddie and then Adam!]

"The manner in which his athletic range slipped casually throughout "Somebody to Love" (his shrugging take on "I'm OK / I'm alright" was fabulous) seemed as natural as breathing."

"...Lambert traded lines with the recorded Queen vocalist during "Bohemian Rhapsody." That pairing was sentimental but unnecessary; Lambert surely could have tackled its highs."

I love the "I'm OK/I'm alright" part as well. My favorite part of the song. Would be a great title for a book about Adam's life, I think.

The link won't open for me, but the excerpts look very complimentary to Adam. I always love Adam's delivery of "I'm ok/I'm alright," too. STL is a real highlight of the show, so full of fun and spontaneous antics!

The review states it's "unnecessary" for Adam and Freddie to sing together...is missing the point why it's done that way. Adam wants Freddie to be part of the concert and what better way than to sing with him, in spirit if you will. Also to celebrate an iconic artist and his greatest composition/hit song. I did feel the poignancy when Adam took over from Freddie and vice versa on screen, so beautifully done; two uniquely powerful voices.

Eli, thank you so much for the link. It did work. The reviewer really got it right. There were good comments there, too.
