Yes indeed a sexy pose, artistic and balanced from the aesthetic angle, in terms of colour scheme, accentuations, eye-catching...perhaps a good poster for fashion or a health-related clinic lwl! Adam's androgyny is used to its aesthetic maximum.

I got to the NY Times, MSG QueenBert concert review...I'd say it's well-written with good flowing diction. However the writer seems to have been commissioned to write it with a negative slant; that's the feel I got. It's not as easy as it seems to write a negative review because one needs to nail it! to be convincing. For example he writes, referring to Adam: "His voice loses fullness as it ascends." That's not what I hear and most of the time I tell myself, still so powerful even to the last note! Okay if you think my opinion is subjective, well so is the reviewer's. And how about Angelina Kalahari's assessment of Adam's vocal capabilities; herself a super soprano; look her up on how she meticulously elaborates on Adam's voice in particular that Adam has mastered his singing/breathing. The reviewer I think prefers the baritone of Freddie to Adam's countertenor and that is fine but diminishing Adam's beautiful countertenor...well got to be more careful, treading on thin ice! Not going into other loopholes dangling all over the place in the review, which I can down them as efficiently as he clamps down Adam's MSG performance.

Adam...the QueenBert live wire
Like a fierce dragon...spews rock-n-roll fire
Strutting his fashions on the Q-runway
Parading like a model in way-high platforms
As he sings and wails The Show Must Go On...
Freddie above, must be very touched
As that was exactly what he wanted much
In Killer Queen leather-strips adorn his muscles
Gulping and spouting 'champange', kungfu full-throttle lwl!
Brian and Adam then strike the keyboard with Spike
A quickened rock-n-roll soaring like a kite
Adam precides...as Brian sends his strings swirling into cosmic space flight
Adam is God's gift to QueenBert
Their camaraderie, chemistry, artistry bonding
Roger bringing up the rear with his lustful drumming
Delivering their servings, each night with scrumptious dressings
Of Queen songs and a good sprinkling of goofing and tantalising
Little wonder their audiences are expanding
Well, I'm pretty thrilled with what I've seen
Assimilating the songs and scenes on screen
Adam's extreme rock-screams galvanise me
So truck-n-roll, heads out for tomorrow
Way before QueenBert aims with their bow and arrow
To shoot their next pot of gold hanging at the end of the rainbow
With Rock entertainment equally matched by sizzling sexy Adam
As they bare their souls to their beloved thousands
Who reciprocate with shouts of love and standing ovations
So where does QueenBert go...
Their likely reply...Nothing really matters to me...Any way the wind blows...
So touching....when Brian steps gingerly towards Adam who looks out to him
On the Q-runway, like crossing a wobbly bridge
As if Adam powerfully hails...Come on, kill it...!
As Brian re-lives his deja-vu Who Wants To Live Forever epic

I was there last night and he looked incredibly fit, sexy, and even slightly trimmer than a few weeks ago. I was surprised how he ran all across the stage for one of the sing-offs and didn't get out of breath at all. He must be working out and it shows.

I loved the fact that he had changed from the zebra patterned attire into the red shirt once he came back to the stage during BoRap for the final duet with Freddie. That was very effective. What a night!

As Queen head to Auckland with Adam Lambert as vocalist, Brian May talks to Russell Baillie about why the band keeps going, his life off stage and being an axe hero

TimeOut finds May mid-soundcheck in Toronto, another show on the North American tour billed as "Queen + Adam Lambert", which makes its way to New Zealand and Australia in September.

Lambert would seem proof of another astronomical comparison: May knows a star when he sees one.

And while May says he may not necessarily approve of the American Idol reality television world that Lambert sprang from - albeit with an established theatrical style than has carried him to an international solo career - he can't say enough good things about the singer who was born a year after Another One Bites The Dust ruled the airwaves.

"The fit is incredibly good and from the point of view of Queen fans, Adam is just 100 per cent better than anyone realised. Adam has got a voice in a billion and his range is stupendous. He has now learned, as Freddie did, to bring it into harness - he's not a boy any more and his interpretation of songs is breathtaking."

Happy Birthday Dr Brian! I hope you have a beautiful day/night.

Dr Brian is so kind
Gives Adam the opportunity of a lifetime
To be their frontman...not heeding negative fans
Brian and Roger simply embark on their envisioned plan
That is to keep the Queen flag flying high
And sure they succeeded, they have arrived
With QueenBert who has taken on a new life
Keeping intact Freddie's brainchild
They know from experience Adam is the guy
To take them to that high point of their lives
Happy Birthday Dr Brian !!

Read that Toronto review. This guy knows his rock history and is very complimentary to Queen + Adam. I agree Adam was made for this gig. Only songs this big give him the forum to showcase his voice, his sense of humor, and his song interpretation. I want to go back and here some of these songs and see how he has changed them up. I listened to the Love Kills video, and the improvement is dramatic. So our talented guy finds a great place to shine. I remember the Bob Marley "Is This Love" and Rihanna's "Stay" and how he made those songs so much better. He really has a talent for song interpretation. Plus sexy, plus wonderful, plus he loves his mom. God, the whole package~~~~

Happy Birthday to Brian May. Here is my favorie quote attributed to Lincoln about age:"It's not the years in your life that count, it 's the life in your years." Dr. Bri seems to be having the best year yet with Adam Lambert and Queen. He's still rockin' better than ever on his 67th birthday. And I just saw an article in my local northeast NJ newspaper for Adam and Queen at the Izod Center this coming week. I think there are still some tickets available. I wonder if there will be a review after the concert. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Queen + Adam Lambert in NYC

To his credit, Lambert was born to sing Queen’s songs. The great Paul Rodgers did it previously in the mid 2000s when Queen revived being a performing band, but in retrospect, Lambert seemed to be a much better fit. Not only did he possess a more flexible vocal range than Rodgers, but Lambert had the flamboyance and charm that recalled the best aspects of Mercury on stage – as the young singer did during his performances of “Killer Queen” and “Somebody to Love.” I was never a fan of American Idol since the beginning, but I have to say Lambert impressed me.

I see Bruno Mars just did a concert at MSG with rave reviews, sold out house, just a few days before Queen. WTG Bruno.
Adam is so lucky Queen took him on as front man, this might have been his only chance to play at MSG. Now hopefully his name will get out there, he has talent and charisma that should be at venues like MSG. Thank you Queen for giving Adam this chance, and believing in him. I am sure there were plenty of people who were very surprised when Adam started performing Thursday, that he was that good. Specially the Freddie fans, who could easily have booed him off, instead they were wooed, by his performance. 95% rave reviews for the whole show and every person in it.

12:04, The review you posted was fantastic! And the best part was his last line (paraphrase): "The minute you stop looking for Freddie, that's when the fun begins." So true.

@3:05.....I agree!!!
This IS a fantastic review.
Very well done...rational, exemplary, and I like how he directly addresses the silliness of that denigrating NYT review piece by piece. It was fun to read.

Also like your excerpt caption 3:05. Nice choice!:)

I wish we could read one review where it doesn't say that Adam" is no Freddie Mercury". We get it already. Adam is performing these iconic rock songs in his own charistmatic and mesmerizing style. He knows exactly who he is and is captivating audiences(some of whom may have been skepical) during this concert tour. He wooed the fans and just soaked up the applause and cheers. No matter what the future holds for Adam in the music industry, this Queenbert tour will certainly be one of the major highlights for years to come. I am just hoping there will be a cd/dvd compilation of the tour so I can have it to listen to and watch whenever I want in the future. And I also hope that it opens the door to many new fans for the third album that Adam will be producing in the future. Maybe partnering with Queen has given him some inspiration and new ideas as to the kind of music he wants to include in it. Whatever it is, I am more than ready to listen.

I have seen several that said he not Freddy but he does not need to be. One from LA there may never be another Freddy but there won't be another Adam Lambert either. I believe that to be the real truth.

Anonymous said...

It'd be rude and ill-mannered not to mention Freddie when referring to Queen. To many people, when Queen is mentioned, they immediately think of Freddie and while many Glamberts don't like it, nothing is going to change that. Brian and Roger continue to include him via hologram in their concerts. They want to remember Freddie and so do his diehard fans. It's not a competition between Adam and Freddie, and if it weren't for Freddie dying, he'd more than likely still be performing with Roger and Brian, and therefore Adam wouldn't have been given this superb opportunity of performing with them. I'm so happy for Adam that this tour with Queen is going so well. :)

@Lam-my: you should publish a book full of rock poetry ! Axel

Whoa! Axel, that is quite a stunning compliment! Rock poetry sounds quite upbeat! lwl! That might help to sell my book because I've never conceived my poems as Rock poetry...Mmm nice! Axel, actually I am doing this completely out of passion for Adam and his singing/art...it caught me off guard. Thank you !! Hey if I do publish my Rock poetry book, you probably will get a cut on the title! lol!

Flashback...Glampire Part 2

Glampire Adam flicks the fur off his black-dragon coat; holds the reins, turns his carriage round to head home to his antique mansion by the rustic bay
Suddenly, the horses neigh with a high screech, kicking their legs up wildly...Werewolf recovers, pounces, swoops; lunging forward onto the precarious carriage to slay
Glampire who, in a split second activates his laser-ring aiming straight at Werewolf; it crouches, partially hidden, drooling from its blood-thirsty tongue hanging, licking the air, snarling in foray
For vengence...an instant return blow at Glampire, hitting him right on the chest...the latter reflexively ejects from underneath, a streak of red-hot ash
Scorching Werewolf as it tries to shapeshift; transforming itself, a configuration grotesque; thrusting, writhing, agonising, what a mess...
Glampire on his war-path, flashes his crimson laser pointing at its fangs, sends them flying; Werewolf swirls in a tailspin, tumbling down the rocky ravine
Heaving a sigh of relief...Glampire holds the reins, signals the horses to trot gracefully downhill; as the moonlight shines on his well-groomed silvery-blond crowning-glory in misty, golden gloom
Rejoicing that Trespassing hit #3 favourite of the year; his battered carriage winds around the hill...his glorious countertenor envelopes the twilight forest...Count Dracula swoons
Horses tripping, Glampire singing, inching his way along embankments overgrown with drooping willows; Werewolves echo in a far-off distance
Hesitant to ignite anymore trouble for the time being for fear of unexpectant killer infrared radiation emittance
Gee-dee-up...we're homeward bound...Glampire Adam gleefully announces and goads the black and white horses
Soon disappearing round a hilly corner, approaching his ancient, slightly run-down mansion nestled behind a shady hanging willowy curtain
Forging ahead with alpha rockstar resolution; he pulls up in front a carved-dragon door...
Opening it with an eerie creak he steps into a green dimly-lit corridor leading to a spiral, wooden staircase running up several floors
An aromatic stew is brewing; Glampire sits at a long rosewood table in introspective rumination of his impending job expectations
Slightly nodding off, he suddenly hears the familiar footsteps as the dragon-door bell sounds a low, sultry tune
Springing up from his archaic, glampire-skull chair, he walks briskly to open the creaky castle door with a smile of anticipation and lo and behold...an instant eruption enthrals...

p/s There are Parts 3 and 4, it never ends. lwl!
