There would be no problem here in Florida right now. An ice bucket would be welcome even in the pool....with our summer temperatures, my pool could use some ice cubes. It would be refreshing!
But I'm thinking......how about ice in a margarita and I just send in a nice cool donation to ALS research? :-)
I read the challenge is make a donation of your choice and dump the water on yourself or make a donation of $100 to skip the water dump. The original plan was to raise awareness AND money.
Corey Griffin pioneered this , because he had a friend who had ALS. You had a choice of donating to ALS or having a bucket of ice water dumped on you, then you also challenge other people to do the same, and they also nominate more people to do this. So far they have made 31 million $.
Corey was at a fund raiser for ALS recently ( Lou Gherigs disease) and raised 100,000, but for some reason went up on a roof at 2 AM and dove off, unfortunately he died , he was only 27. They have since stopped the water dumping, and just ask people to donate to this terrible disease. Jerry Lewis used to have a marathon every year, for years every September, not sure if that is still going on.
