: Queen + Adam Lambert, Melbourne, August 30 2014!

The popstar frontman softens Queen’s venom. They are essentially a hard rock band lead by axeman Dr Brian May and driven by drummer Roger Taylor.
Following the death of Freddie Mercury, May and Taylor have done an incredible job of keeping the brand alive, firstly with + George Michael, an album with + Paul Rodgers, I think for a moment or two there may have been a + Robbie Williams and now they are doing it + Adam Lambert.
Taylor and May kept Queen’s legacy up front with the musical ‘We Will Rock You’. It put the music of Queen live on stage every night for more than 10 years. That show brought Queen a new audience and was the stopgap that has kept the band relevant to this day.
The one disappointment was the – John Deacon, Queen’s original bass player who retired in 1997. While Freddie Mercury is showcased on two occasions (Love Of My Life and Bohemian Rhapsody), Deacon is not acknowledged at all, despite writing some of the band’s biggest hits including ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, ‘You’re My Best Friend’ and ‘I Want To Break Free’.
What we are served in the Queen + Adam Lambert performance is an incredible rock show with Brian May truly the centre of attention. May’s guitar created the Queen sound. His signature playing is an identifiable as Freddie’s singing.

Do these reviewers ever stop to think that maybe John D. wants it this way?! And/or give Brian & Roger some credit, why they are doing what they are doing, why the band is what it is (excellent professionalism!) and why the show is done the way it is done. So fed up with the whining and mistrust. Entitlement is not pretty, said this fantastic young man I've sorta known 5+ years... Me thinks that goes for reviewers, too!
OT
So I'm at a Daughtry concert ....my daughters fav..sure it will a great show but not gonna compare to my last concert .
Vagrant, I so agree with you! Very well said.
Brian, Roger, and the entire band make up Queen - they are playing at every performance. Oh yes, and what about their lead singer, Adam Lambert. I would think the man fronting the band would be of some importance!
The reviewer is more a Queen fan than an Adam fan, it's quite obvious. He has rightly pointed out that John Deacon has not been mentioned for composing I Want To Break Free and Another One Bites the Dust, two of my favourites; though we're not sure why. They are the reviewer's opinions and his background knowledge of Queen.
I kind of disagree with the first sentence that seems to suggest that frontman Adam has comprised the "Queen venom" as a "hard rock band". In my opinion, Adam not only not "soften Queen's venom", he brought it back to life fierier than ever.
To quote Brian in one of his recent interviews. He said: "Adam is like Freddie, he has the heart of Freddie." So how could Adam have "softened Queen's venom". But in no way am I saying the reviewer is wrong because like I said before, the magic of sound...we may hear the same tune/music/sounds, yet our brain interprets it differently and our inclination toward the singer/band is a crucial element in this case.
Should be..... compromised, above comment.
Wonderful photo of Brian. Look at the joy on his face!
That should explain to anyone who questions why Queen is still out rocking the world.....because they CAN and because it's FUN! Finding Adam was a stroke of lightning for them.....he brings back their magic.

Hello Tess Lambert Outlaw.....Yes that was what I did, used all the available resources like you; but the closest I got to the concert, apart from two livestreams, was the Sydney Audio...that was as real as it can get. There were live tweets every couple of seconds from Glamberts and Queens following the Audio all over the world. They would be talking to one another and I was so happy to be there. One even said she attended QAL 4 times and said this Audio was even more distinct than the ones she attended. For that I will be grateful to FierceMama/Twitter for streaming QAL/Sydney live. And because the Audio was so distinct, Adam's voice was sooo powerful...and I thought, I needn't worry so much about his power like being able to scale those Mt Everst notes. lol! He scales Mt Everest with all that he's got.
