Adam Lambert will guest judge American Idol callbacks, filling in for an absent Keith Urban.
The country star will not join Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr in New York due to the sudden passing of his wife Nicole Kidman’s father.
Adam, runner-up in 2008, will take a seat alongside the duo for callbacks at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center today (September 16th) and tomorrow (September 17th).
The show’s official Twitter announced the news on Twitter, writing: “Adam Lambert will be serving as guest judge at the NY auditions. Our thoughts are with Keith and his family during this difficult time.”
Adam, who has just wrapped an extensive tour with rock legends Queen, had previously been tipped for a permanent role on the judging panel. He returned to mentor the series 13 finalists earlier this year.
American Idol will return to Fox in January 2015.

Seeing Adam made my heart go all a flutter! Can't wait for more details and January 2015. I will be sure to watch ADAM on Idol!
Will Adam's parts go to television or not? Can't remember the format from past shows. I have only skimmed over it since Adam's season.
@anon, thanks for bringing Shoshanna's message back to the front of the page. I think we Glamberts have to relax more. Defending him against mean accusations is one thing, but over-reacting if not every bit of his accomplishments is listed correctly in his "resume" will likely not do Adam any favor.

@jaycee14, from what I gathered earlier today according to Harry Connick's tweet, the call back auditions will air around February next year.
He was runner up in 2009 not 2008!
Does sound like Adam's episode will be broadcast. Hope so!!! He will likely be the one and only Idol alum who will ever sit in a judge's seat. Guess they're taping tomorrow?
As for Shosh and her message. She is right. Unfortunately, these rude, overly-defensive nit-picking Glamberts tend to spoil the image of the whole fandom. I know we're all avid fans who want to promote Adam whenever possible, but those few who repeatedly go over the top are doing Adam no favors. Hope at least some of them get the message.

Of course I immediately got interested if you could name some examples of the rare, hard to get expensive mag covers?!
