From "GiveStars" Co-Founder Steve Finley: Adam Lambert is GiveStars "Biggest Request Right Now"

From an article in the Post Bulletin: an interview with Steve Finley, co-founder of "GiveStars": (12-19-14)

                                       Adam Lambert

EXCERPTS from the article:

"GiveStars is a simple concept and a great way to raise awareness and funds for causes in need across the globe. You give a card to a loved one, a celebrity of your choice gives it a personalized audio greeting and 100 percent of the profits go to a charity of the celebrity's choice."

"With hundreds of celebrities, thousands of potential recipients' names and 25 holidays and celebrations, the recording process won't be a small task. Even though the celebrities have offered their time for free, the company still will have to rent out recording studios."

"  "There are so many celebrities on board," Finley said. "Between music, movies and TV, there is something for everyone, and we are getting new celebrities on board every day." Some of those already on board include Justin Timberlake, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus, Chris Evans, Vanessa Hudgens, Fergie, Adam Lambert, Olivia Munn, Rosario Dawson, Ted Danson, Will.i.am, Evander Holyfield, Dianna Agron, Seth Green, Chris D'Elia, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Wilmer Valderrama, Chuck Liddell and Nicole Richie. The list grows daily — Timberlake was just added."

"When I asked Finley which celebrities are the biggest request right now, he said, "Actually, Adam Lambert. I would have guessed it would be Aaron Paul from 'Breaking Bad' or Norman Reedus from 'The Walking Dead,' but tons of people are reaching out for Adam Lambert." He joked, "Maybe that means I'm getting old and out of touch with the younger demographics." "

Finley . . . you are out of touch with the "Glamberts" too!

When this is up and running I will donate.

Does the donation have to cover cost of studio rental and what percentage is that?

Will the people working in studio donate their time also?

I don't make a lot of money but usually donate to Adam's birthday charity. So I will wait and hope he picks one before he goes back to the Godfathers.

2:01 am, that's what they are doing right now, raising the money to get this project up and running. They are raising money to build the ordering website and pay for studio time, etc

Go read more details here

2:06 am, the websites I just listed above answer all the questions about what the donation will cover and why it is needed. It doesn't say specifically what percentage goes to each part of the infrastructure.

Of course the cost of the recoding studio would include paying the employees there. The employees are like you and me with jobs we are paid to do. It is the celebrity who is donating their time.

Again, read the info at

If you have further questions I suggest contacting them. I emailed them and received a quick and personal reply.

Sounds OK but I will wait till the project is up and running....

LOL don't tell him what Adam's demographics really are. Glad it's a perception of all younger people.

Projects don't get up and running if people don't participate in what they need to get up and running.

Went to indiegogo and can't find anything about charity water

even tho Adam is the highest money raiser

Sounds like a great project once it gets going. All charities have a little overhead cost involved. I'll participate too when this gets going. I think Adam's fanbase is pretty broad. So happy that he is the biggest name being requested.

I don't care whether people donate or not by prepurchasing a card or with a simple donation but I do not understand the "I'll donate and participate once it is up and running." That's what this period of fundraising is for, to help make a viable organization so you can buy a card in the future with the proceeds going to Adam's charity choice.

Do people not understand how this works? That they need initial donations to build the organization so there is something to participate in later?

Luckily I think they have enough celebs on board that they will reach their funding goals without the "I'll wait until it's up and running" people. But a smaller or less visible charity organizations would never get started with that attitude.

Later you won't be making a donation. Later you will be buying a greeting card.

Maybe people need to see the timeline on the website to understand.

The information is also included in the thread that follows this one, here on Adam Lambert 24/7. It is included in the initial tweet via Give Stars. There are several other tweets that answer some of the questions listed here in this comment section:

Via GiveStars: "Adam Lambert Has Chosen Charity Water As His Charity For GiveStars"

It would seem that Give Stars is pretty up front with what they're doing. I don't see any hidden costs here in reality.

Be sure to read the entire article linked in this interview with Steve Finley as well.

Also note, with the Give Stars Indigogo fund raising campaign, you DO receive goods and services with your initial donation: ie various numbers of cards, etc. Be sure to check out the offers listed based on your donation amount. For example, even a $15 donation gets you $15 off the cost of a card when it's finally up and running..

So far, $30,000 out of the $50,000 needed to fund the project has been donated.

Thanks for the further clarification, glitzy and others. Haven't examined it all very closely yet. It sounds like a solid, reputable entity.

I guess I've been very distracted by that pic of Adam in the sleeveless black vest. Kind of addled my brain for a little while. I think I'm slowing coming back to my senses.

Just to further clarify what glitzylady said, pay attention to which button you click. They are calling the items you can chose to get with your donation "perks." For example there is a button for the $15 gift card glitzylady mentioned. But there is also a just donate button. If you click that you won't receive any "perks".

Perks are limited. There were Adam autographed CDs that are gone and other celeb collectible items gone now. There are current 206 of the $15 credit for a card left.

I'm trying to see this as a good thing, but since Adam raised lots of money for this charity just by asking his fans to donate years ago, I'm going to pass. I have continued a twice a year donation for years now. It's a great program and they keep you informed on their progress by email films.

1:08 PM, it is still a good thing. Somebody who may not know much about Adam or Charity: water may buy a card for a daughter and Charity: water gets a donation they otherwise wouldn't get. Same thing for somebody like Aaron Paul. I would never have heard about his charity except through GiveStars. It's about reaching much more than just Adam's fans like you. It shouldn't be hard to see it is a good thing.
