(CORRECTED:) Hits Daily Double (HDD) has published their album sales predictions for the first week of TOH and Adam comes in at an excellent #2 with 41,112 in sales.

If you include streaming, he is predicted at #3, behind Taylor Swift....

Here are links to the actual pages at HDD...

HDD: Building Album Sales - Chart Date 6/23/2015

HDD: Sales Plus Streaming - Chart Date 6/23/2015

And for a little bit of analysis, here is the latest post from Adam Lambert Music 411 (requestadamlambert.com), who say they anticipate TOH to debut at #3 tomorrow on the Billboard 200 album chart, but with a slight chance it could come in at #2, as well as:
"With this chart placement, Adam becomes only the third American Idol alum to have their first three albums debut in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200 chart; Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the others."

Oh my God, I am so proud and happy for him, so deserved, also God bless the Gambert fans, the most passionate and loving fans anywhere.

Just note that the actual report comes from Billboard tomorrow. HDD only gives an estimate of sales. Streaming is very important. If you can try Spotify premium. I have it and I stream TOH and Adam's playlist.

If you're interested go to the link below to get Spotify premium:

Good Point, keep streaming my lovelies.

You can also stream GT for free on Spotify

Bought 4 more today to gift to the LBG youths. They do gift baskets for the new members. Is it better to just stream Ghost Town or all the songs on TOH?

Been streaming on Spotify today. Adam featured on their page. Nice!

I feel a lot better about Adam's totals. Saw were Nate Ruess sold like 29,000 and in 2012 his group Fun sold 70.000. Nates album was also on sale for $7.99 Adam is doing really well!!

TOH failed on ITunes and amazon. I don't think all of these streaming numbers are help for real. I'm sure label doesn't care about it. WB need sales but they didn't get it. Yes, TOH made #2 or #3 on BB. But how about next week and week after? All Adam's fans bought CD and download album in first week. A lot of us donated it for charity. We can't blame WB for lack of promotions. Album is absolutely fantastic. But Adam can't sell it. Hope TOH has big success over world and WB will stay with Adam for while. Yes, I'm very pessimistic, but this is the truth.
By the way, these are addresses of two organizations you can donate CD.

THANK GOD! My prayers have been answered! I'm thrilled...and SO proud of our beautiful boy!!!!

5:48, I play the album and sometimes turn on replay for GT.

Anonymous said...

@5:58 The label does care about streaming numbers. They get paid per play not a lot , but it adds up. They also get money from YouTube and vevo plays. It all adds up.

Unknown said...

@6:07PM WB don't have VEVO subscription.

Anonymous said...

its only supposed to be number 9 on billboard 200. And selling substantially less then Trespassing and For Your Entertainment.

Anonymous said...

WB has deals with YouTube not VEVO. It's a different time and streaming is very important.

Anonymous said...

@delilah, I remember you once commented that you have musician friends. I bet they give anything for their music to chart on Billboard 200 only. Adam's third album will be on BB top 5. I bet he is much more happier than his pessimistic fans.

donna w said...

Well I"M thrilled!

Are you joking or what? Streaming moved Taylor Swift from 4th position on sales to 2nd position on sales/streaming. Streaming translates to radio play to sales. Read reports made by dedicated fans getting information from recent Billboard charts and labels. Adam is constantly tweeting, IGing, putting information and links on his Facebook.

Anonymous said...

Glamberts are so disorganized. They can't all get on board together for Adam. It's like hearding cats.

@5:29pm: Thank you for the clarification, you are absolutely correct: HDD provides PREDICTIONS on final sales as the actual complete numbers don't come out until tomorrow morning, and I have updated the post and noted as such. My apologies for not being clearer (my enthusiasm took over). That being said, all indications are indeed that TOH will be at #2 in sales, we'll have to see how it lands with streaming, and where it finally ends up on the Billboard 200. Thanks to everyone for encouraging streaming tonight!

Anonymous said...

@6:21 Where are you getting it is going to be #9 on billboard 200? Only Taylor is supposed to move up. Do he should be #3.

Anonymous said...

It would be nice to add this from AL411:

With this chart placement, Adam becomes only the third American Idol alum to have their first three albums debut in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200 chart; Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the others.

Adam’s impressive track record on the Billboard 200:
#3 – “For Your Entertainment” in 2009
#1 – “Trespassing” in 2012
#3 – “The Original High” in 2015 (would have been #2 under the old system of strictly sales)

Please do not listen to Delilah. Streaming is still very important!

The reason streaming is still very important is for second week sales. We don't want Adam to have a large drop after the first week. Large streaming numbers makes it look like lots of people are listening to the song and radio looks at that. Radio plays what is popular on streaming services.

Please stream mostly Ghost Town. It does count for album sales as well as single sales. It is easy to make a playlist on Spotify and put it on replay (important detail, check the little arrows, don't use the crossed shuffle arrow, use the round chasing arrows for replay.)

I have a free Spotify playlist running on my tablet 24/7, usually on mute. I check it occasionally to make sure it is still running.

I can't afford to buy more CDs but I can stream. Please help Adam by streaming.

Taylor Swift beat Adam in streaming numbers by only 1,768. That is how important streaming is.

@7:37: great to point that out -- on your good suggestion, I just updated post with the first part of what you wrote. Thanks!

On another note...so very much appreciate everyone's comments and the widespread enthusiasm, but do have to add:

This is a time to celebrate Adam's accomplishments, this is a big moment in Adam's career and for us fans. And, so, just for me, the negativity and/or pessimism from the very few of you above -- you have a right to your opinion -- but I find it completely UN-refreshing.

I am thrilled at what is happening for Adam now, in every which way, and with obvious excellent support from WB, and with great critical response from the press and music lovers alike (longtime Adam fans, new fans, even casual listeners), and these ARE great numbers.

So, I choose to CELEBRATE! :)

How do you stream?

@8:08 you have to ply on Spotify, or Amazon Prime or some other sites. You can download on your phone or computer and just keep replaying. I have mine going all the time and you can turn the column down and let it play.

It's easy to set up a free Spotify account and stream. I created a playlist and put it on repeat (the circular arrows, not the crossed arrows.)

Also fans, if you are regular listeners of top 40 or HAC radios in your area and you know they have added GT to their playlists; you can request them to play GT. I have texted and tweeted the DJs and they played GT. I also request them to play other artists, so they don't know I'm only Adam Lambert fan.

A high chart position like this is actually very good for publicity of the album but statistically the number of sales are too low after all the promotions. Something should be done about the second week sales. As much as debuting on a high position is good publicity, falling heavily in the next weeks is poisonous to the sales. IMO, although the title track TOH would be a great choice for the next single, the WB team should be choosing a surefire winner for the radio. Shame would have done amazing if it wasn't a bonus track. Very radio friendly, current, catchy, playful and also a tune and hook that gets stuck. The Tove Lo collab could win many radio listeners and possibly new fans. There I said could be very popular especially if accompanied by a touching video but it may be too soon to release a ballad-like track righ now. ALN, EITN & There I said it are all alike IMO: they can either do very good or very poor. The latter, although not being the best track on the album albeit one o the catchiest, could actually do very well. Emotional, catchy and a bit Nauthy boy and sam smith-esque. The other too are imo either better with the older audience or more exciting when performed live.
whatever they do, wther they release a single or anth else, I hope the sales soar. This is too good an album to be forgotten as well as an amazing artist. Adam himself I think should try to be more exciting and curiosity charging for gaining new young fans...

Does streaming a song actually count as a sale in dollars and cents?

Anonymous said...

Spotify pays 70%. The numbers on streams is sought after by radio stations. Hence radio spins and then track/album sales.

Anonymous said...

9:09, 100 stream of one song translates to value of the song say $1.29.

Anonymous said...

9:09 PM, streaming does count as a sale though it takes a lot of streams to equal the sale of one album. It does result in payment to the label and artist though it is usually a very small amount of money to the artist.

That has been part of the controversy of streaming, the artist sees little money from it. Taylor Swift was just in the news about it, fighting for the artists and she won.

Anonymous said...

According to Billboard 100 stream is equal to one track sale. GT has over 12 million stream count on Spotify.

Anonymous said...

100 stream equals one track sale. 1500 stream equals one album sale. That's how Billboard accounts track/album sales. But as far as how much Spotify or other legit stream outlets pay artists, I really don't know.

Anonymous said...

It says is No. best seller in alternative rock, #4 in its peak..how come it failed in amzon if the number is like that.. I cant understand..

Anonymous said...

This from Billboard:

The updated Billboard 200 will utilize accepted industry benchmarks for digital and streaming data, equating 10 digital track sales from an album to one equivalent album sale, and 1,500 song streams from an album to one equivalent album sale. All of the major on-demand audio subscription services are considered, including Spotify, Beats Music, Google Play and Xbox Music.

Love seeing #GhostTown in @Spotify’s Today’s Top Tracks. Thank you! http://spoti.fi/1HcZ01W

10:53 anon, I think Adam's ultimate success has very little to do with James Taylor grabbing the #1 spot. Adam already made history with Trespassing. What really matters is continuous and increasing interest in Adam's music past release week and beyond the fandom. Adam and TOH have achieved great sales numbers for its first week, but let's not fool ourselves either. A good portion of those numbers are likely attributed to many fans purchasing more than one physical album and gifting some, me included. Gifting on iTunes seems trickier. We need to keep streaming and creating buzz on social media to spark further iTunes sales as well as interest in streaming outside of the fandom bubble. On demand streaming via Spotify is easiest and cheapest on the computer. Just make sure you don't shuffle but loop GT or TOH in a playlist instead. Sometimes I share a random song off Adam's Spotify playlist on twitter in order to attract other fan groups. Btw. when you use your iPhone for Spotify streaming, it's almost unavoidable to get Premium service as the free App only lets you shuffle (which is NOT on demand streaming). http://requestadamlambert.com/streaming-matters/

Adam and his team know full well about the "second week" phenomenon. We can only be expected to buy so much. It's their job to having strategies in place to keep the buzz and radio play as high as possible. I am thrilled about Adam's success so far with TOH and GT. It's like night and say from TP. I figure I can stream a lot and spread the word. Adam has been marketing himself well as a good, smart media personality, IMO. That's one reason people buy music, too. They like the singer as a person. Thanks for all the great info on this thread, everyone. Hope we get some new streamers out of it. :)

The loyal fans are still kicking and we are not stopping that's all!!!:) I'm just happy for everyone who trust their instincts to carry on indeed!!!:)

Just wondering, as Adam has 2.5m followers on Twitter a good percentage of these must be genuine fans and if only 5% of his Twitter followers purchased just one copy of TOH the sales alone would have given him the No.1 spot. No.2 or No.3 is fantastic though, just hope it can stay in the Top 10 for at least a few weeks...

Anonymous said...

If the radio stations in the north east of the USA would play GT I'm sure it would increase the sales a whole lot. There I said it!

Anonymous said...

I'm in northeast NJ and NYC radio station 102.7 is playing Ghost Town when I have the radio on during the morning hours. I don't really know about any of the other NYC stations. If Adam did some promo at any of them, they should be playing this new single. It is different from most of the other songs being heard and it does stay with you after you've listened to it several times.

i don't know what else Adam, his management team and WB Music can do to promote TOH. From what I have read and seen in all the videos posted, he has been promoting the hell out of this new album. He's been asked the same questions over and over again by every person interviewing him, and Adam is always charming and thoughtful in his answers. The mini summer concert he did for GMA should have been the best nationwide advertisement for the album. He was flawless in appearance and performance. It gets discouraging reading some of the negative comments about numbers, low sales, etc. The album has had amazing reviews overall. If this album doesn't bring Adam the recognition and success that he so deserves in today's music industry, it will be very disappointing for all of his fans and obviously for him. This is an amazing album and I also hope that the sales get better for this powerhouse artist.

@5:12
Been thinking the same, less than 5% of his twitter followers buying one CD would have taken him to spot #1. "Likes" in social media are easy but seldom turn in to real life action...

So proud of Adam anyways!
LOVE TOH, bought one CD for my car, one for home.
Like to have the actual CD in my hands (Adam watching straight in to my eyes, LOL!), for the same reason why I love books and do not have kindle...

Twitter follows do not result in music sales. Taylor Swift has over 59 million followers.
