so Gene Simmons was a jerk to Adam on IDOl that night I could tell that & it showed that Paul was nice to him. I do not watch Kiss because Simmons is not a nice person.

GS stated his "opinion" after Idol, too. Not a particularly nice guy, IMO.

Based on my own observations how the younger generation listens to music, I can confirm that nowadays it's definitely all about playlists of various genres in music by a variety of artists, and I myself am starting to listen to music the same way now (thanks to my recently established Spotify Premium account). My college kids for instance enjoy the crazy EDM stuff at times, but at the same time they listen to alternative rock and indie music, and just now they are discovering classic rock and some of our "oldie" cds. I agree with Adam to a certain extent that putting an artist in a specific genre is a bit outdated. However, I consider "musical identity" an important thing still. Something like "that sounds like Adam Lambert".

Re: Gene Simmons... don't know about Idol night, but I read that he said that Adam would be a big Star IF he hadn't come out of the closet. And Adam responded that Gene was "an ass" (or some-thing like that) -- because Adam resented the suggestion that he should have been untruthful about his sexuality in order to be a Star. We know how important it is to Adam to be up front and honest..

Slight correction to above above... Adam called Gene Simmons a "D--K", according to the article I read, because Simmons said Adam just ruined his future career by "coming out".
