Any idea how to convince Billboard to use a current photo of Adam?!!!!! This one is eons away from his "Ghost Town" image -- absolutely incongruous! It's SO frustrating!
Hi Nanbert! I tried doing this many weeks ago, to no avail. But since you mentioned this again, I decided to go a different way and sent a note to WB Promo Dept, politely asking if they haven't noticed that Billboard is using an RCA-OWNED image for 'GT' when they should be using a WB-OWNED image. Hopefully that will spur them on to reach out to their contacts at Billboard. Actually, I asked them if Adam's new milestones on this chart, and on the Mediabase Top 40 chart, isn't tweet-worthy. :) We'll see if any response occurs -- it ain't easy to get to the right people.
Actually -- kinda curious why no one but you has commented on both of these great 'GT' milestones we've posted about -- nothing positive has been said yet -- c'mon guys! I think this is SO COOL that 'GT' has not left the charts after more than two months, while many, many other singles have come and gone very quickly AND, at this late point, is still gaining. It's awesome!
I've been seeing this thread for a few days and always intend to post a comment but then I don't. Broddy, I'm glad you prompted me to finally comment. Considering Adam's somewhat haphazard luck on the charts, I think most of us are thrilled at the success of Ghost Town. I never would have predicted that it would still be this high on the major charts after so many weeks. Just goes to show what some aggressive marketing can do, along with a song that is really different and grabs your attention. I see the stats of GT in some other countries and it's #1 in a number of places. (I know a few of them are digital charts, etc.) but still. Adam's bread and butter is still the foreign market. There is still something about him that the U.S. has not quite caught onto yet. His voice is well-acknowledged. And though GT has held its own, it's just not the mega-hit that I wish it would be. Adam will tour next year in a number of countries to adoring fans. I just hope we get a U.S. tour, too, not just some scattered one-offs. I think this time around it will happen. Fingers crossed. Grammy nom would be nice.
Hi broddybounce! Good thinking!... to "sic" Warner Bros. on Billboard! Just might work. You know, frankly I always thought those cover shots of Adam might have been detrimental to some album sales...especially to straight men who might have been embarassed to be seen buying them....just thinking. You know how some people are, although things are getting better little by little.....but I still see some nasty trolls wandering around and commenting on the internet. Actually, I thought those photos of Adam were gorgeous (but aren't they all?) He is such a blessed young man ... fantastic voice, amazing looks, SO, SO likable/loveable, so articulate and honest....and REAL....and FUN! He's perceptive too, he recently said something in an interview about knowing what his fans want... That they "JUST WANT HIM TO BE HIMSELF". He's SO right! I'm 82 years old and have NEVER been anyone's fan before -- but I "dote" on him like a grandson, and have since his audition on American Idol.
Thanks, Dee & Nan -- both your comments are terrific! To be truthful, we admins really would prefer to not "force" comments at all -- much better for it to happen organically -- but, in this case, I thought it was warranted because we have SO many posts coming up about South America and I didn't want this continuing great accomplishment by Adam to get lost in the shuffle. It warranted at least a few more acknowledgements than just mine -- and you guys did just that!
Dee, I agree -- wish the song shot up the charts quicker -- but, as you yourself actually said once, "the little engine that could," and actually now, fingers crossed, although probably won't make it to #1 at this point, maybe it will get to top 20 on Mediabase's Top 40, and top 40 on the Hot 100 -- those would be excellent accomplishments and one can only wish.
Nan -- it's so hard to tell about the buying patterns of the public -- sometimes you'd be surprised as to who does and who doesn't pay attention to Adam's career -- looking back there have been SO many variables in his career and what could and couldn't have been done to make him and his singles more successful. We can only do our best to spur on what's happening now and hope for success with each new single, each new project.
But I'd say, right now, we have much to celebrate with all the promo, all that's going on in South America, the upcoming 2016 tour (so far) and, especially, as far as I'm concerned, what will happen when the 2nd and 3rd singles get released in the US.
