Flashback
In 2020 Chinese New Year Eve, 24 Jan 2020, I wished everyone here at Adam Lambert, ζ°εΉ΄εΏ«δΉ ! seen nian kwai ler !
In 2 days time, Lunar New Year ushers in Year of the Ox / η niu…12 Feb 2021, 1st day of the 1st lunar month, new moon, start of the Spring Festival ζ₯θ choon jie…(Lunar calendar).
You would notice what I wrote last year made no reference to Covid which had already broken out and millions of Chinese/China were going back to their far-off homes, villages to reunite with their families…ε’εεΊη₯ζ°εΉ΄ tuan yuan ching ju seen nian.
(ε’ε tuan yuan / reunion .. εΊη₯ ching ju / celebrate .. ζ°εΉ΄ seen nian / new year. Their to and fro trips were chaotic to the max.
What I wrote in 2020 (last year):
Hello Adam ! Regarding your quote ‘Spring hath sprungeth’
Today is the first day of Spring ζ₯θ choon jie, 25 Jan 2020.
Millions of Chinese and others celebrate it as Chinese Lunar New Year.
Greetings to all ! ππ
ζ°εΉ΄εΏ«δΉ ! seen nian kwai ler ! (mandarin) / sun neen fai lok ! (cantonese)
(ζ°εΉ΄ seen nian / new year … εΏ«δΉ kwai ler / happy)
ζεεθ΄’ ! goong si faart chye (mandarin)
I’m cantonese so I wish everyone goong hey faart choy ζεεθ΄’ !
(ζε goong hei / congratulations … εθ΄’ faart choy / prosper / wealth
ζ₯ζ₯ι«ε bo bo goh sing … ζ₯ζ₯ bo bo / step by step … ι«ε goh sing / ascend in career
One year on Chinese Lunar New Year starts 12 Feb 2021, lasts 15 or 16 days and we have somewhat survived the brutal onslaught of one lunar year of Covid 19.
It came upon us so unexpectedly last year as Chinese people worldwide were celebrating, wishing one another :
ζ°εΉ΄εΏ«δΉ ! seen nian kwai ler ! (mandarin) / sun neen fai lok ! (cantonese) Happy New Year !
Have no fear sturdy and hardworking Ox is going to see us through 2021 π³π
Four days ago, when I opened my front door, lo and behold, I saw a beautiful red paper-bag hanging on the gate handle; Wah ! Chinese New Year has arrived, were my first thoughts…in it were 4 fresh tangerines which are used for Chinese New Year visitations; symbolism of health, prosperity. I guess the community people want to show their concern and care in these difficult times of the pandemic; restrictions in home visits/gatherings…only within own family, no more than 8 persons per group. Anyway, those tangerines are really juicy and sweet…Thank you ! whoever brought them and hung them on my gate !
