Excellent ! Adam, what you said is exactly what I've always embraced:
His shows are about "love and acceptance and freedom and honesty"..."I don't see how that's offensive to anybody no matter what religion you follow."
Singaporeans embrace this principle of equality for all very seriously; even our gay people are treated no differently other than not able to sign a same sex marriage certificate...which I think will eventually take root too. Perhaps, you have been invited to our Sing NYE 2016 as a sort of catalyst to hasten the process. Thanks Adam for coming! Your high! low, whatever notes will soar across and up and down The Float; may I dare say it's baptism by fire.
Adam will zoom onto our gigantic Marina Float Mmm, maybe even arrive in a speed boat lol! I think he would be singing from a high rostrum Surrounded by fanfare and grandeur Yea, all the Sing Ghosts will tum tum tum They'd say: Hey, it's different this year Yes, together with the 27,000 Singapore Roar As your voluptuous vocals soar baby soar lwl! Won't be Another Lonely Night You can hold your head up high with pride Under the star-studded sky light I would love to hear The Original High Perhaps, launch it as your next single On this auspicious 2016 NYE night lwl!
The Strait Times article is great. I think the silly negative petition may actually work in Adam's favor in Singapore. A little controversy swirling around him will make people curious to learn what is about, and may actually increase the audience for his performance. Take that homophobic prudes! ;)
Krismidas... I think you nailed that in a nutshell. Singaporeans are helluva kaypoh lol!
Plausible scenario:
Kaypoh A : Eh eh, you heard what they say about this Float thing at Marina?
Kaypoh B : Ya, everybody knows already lah...stale news.
Kaypoh C : I don't understand why 19000 people petition against Adam Lambert...he really can sing ! you know.
Kaypoh D : How do you know...have you been to his concerts?
Kaypoh C : I have not been to his concerts but my neighbour Lam-My praises him like crazy; she attended his Trespassing concert, full house ! you know.
Kaypoh A : Eh, you free or not, this New Year's Eve...why don't we all go and see what the big fuss is about...Anyway, I heard he is very handsome; Lam-My said like Romeo. lol!
All the kaypohs : Okay lah, let's go and buy tickets...buy early if we want front rows. It seems hah, can get big discount for more than five tickets at one buy.
Kaypoh C : Get Lam-My to come with us...then we're exactly 5...got discount ! you know.
Kaypoh B : No need to repeat got discount; we heard you loud and clear. lol!
