Working in a large medical center around many doctors and students I have know many Muslims. They have all been good people and very kind to me. To me it seems that comparing all or most Muslims to Isis or any terror organization is much like comparing all Christians to the crazy Westbro people.JMO

Best to stay out of politics, Adam. Something must be done, NOW. Maybe some ideas the government are thinking of, are a bit wacky, but at least they are trying to stop the horrific actions of the radical Muslims. Where are they hiding, but in with the peaceful Muslims. Isis seems to want to kill anybody and everybody, and they are Muslims. No religion should have the right to kill. The radicals are evil people, and they could be your next door neighbor.

Religion should be the Cause of Love and Affection
Religion should unite all hearts and cause wars and disputes to vanish from the face of the earth, give birth to spirituality, and bring life and light to each heart. If religion becomes a cause of dislike, hatred and division, it were better to be without it, and to withdraw from such a religion would be a truly religious act. For it is clear that the purpose of a remedy is to cure; but if the remedy should only aggravate the complaint it had better be left alone. Any religion which is not a cause of love and unity is no religion.

Good for Adam. We all need to speak up to protect religious freedom and to protect people from being lumped in with the bad people just because they come from the same group.

I think Adam has every right to comment on this increasingly more alarming subject: the general fear that some have of Muslims and the knee-jerk solutions that some politicians are proposing.. Some in the extreme..

We all want to be safe from the horrible things that are increasingly happening in this world of ours but let's not treat every Muslim as if they are the enemy, as if they are responsible.. The great majority are not.. Unfortunately there are the extremists..

Celebrities, while they are really in general, just like us, wanting to live in a safe and peaceful world, they do have a bigger "voice" than most of us and have the ability to reach a wider audience..

I feel the same concerns and fears that Adam expressed and worry that we as a country (US) will forget where we came from, most of us as immigrants from somewhere else..

I recently visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on a trip to NYC.. I also visited the 911 Memorial and Museum.. The former a symbol of the United States as a welcoming place, and the latter, a symbol of our more recent new reality: Worldwide terrorism. Both were powerful..

I hope we can remember our history here and not become Islamophobes, or close our borders to those people to who are terrorized in their own countries..

I saw yesterday, a proposal from a mayor in a small eastern US city to place ALL Muslims in Internment camps, much like the Japanese internment camps in the US during World War Two.. I sincerely hope no one takes this idea seriously..

I also recently saw a new Broadway play "Allegiance" by George Takei, based on his childhood experience during World War ll, when all west coast US Japanese people were placed in the camps. Most lost everything: jobs, homes, businesses.. A very sad moment in our history..

We simply cannot let our fear overtake our humanity..

That's what Adam is saying and I agree.. Let's hope sanity and reason prevail and we don't start treating all Muslims as the enemy..

Well said glitzy lady .....thank you. Thank you to Adam for bravely speaking up and voicing his opinions (which I respect). Adam is a very intelligent man and,IMO, is a wonderful role model. He has taught me a lot about tolerance and keeping an open mind.

Islamist extremists started during/after WW2 by Muslim brotherhood in Egypt. 40 years ago, Shah of Iran called it a black movement or Islamic Communist and tried to stop it but CIA called him a lunatic. Khomeini was inspired by Muslim brotherhood. Osama was inspired by Khomeini. ISIS inspired by Osama. History channel did a very long documentary about this if you can find it watch it. There are articles about this on The Atlantic online publication too. A professor of Islamic history by the name of Heykal wrote a huge article about this as well. These are reminiscent of WW2. Hopefully it will die out soon but it has a religion umbrella. :(

I just pray that sane, intelligent heads prevail in this whole volatile situation. There is no sure way to identify terrorists amongst large crowds of people out in public, especially when they are willing to strap explosives to their bodies and die for their cause. Lots of people espouse their own theories for how to stop all this madness, but it's the heads of all the major countries involved who have to get together and agree on a plan. Everyone is at risk.

I was just about to read the Levine tweets that got deleted!! Can someone tell me the juicy details of what made him send the Levine tweets and who called him Levine?

I love The Light said...

PS he needs to get the word Islamophobia out of there coming from someone from a country oppressed by Islam, though there are Muslims of varied degrees. Islam needs criticism, but Americans are just racists labeling all people from certain countries Muslims or terrorists. There are also christian terrorists blowing up abortion clinics etc...
Good for his tons of Muslim fans who liked his support

ila said...

I love the light, Adam isn't from a country oppressed by Islam. Even if he was Israeli, why would it be wrong to say phobia against a group of people is bad? Not all Americans are racist and labelling people from certain places as Muslim or terrorists; in fact Adam was proving just that. You are labelling all Americans like you claim they do Muslims.

I love The Light said...

I said "I" am from a country oppressed by Islam

Lumping all people if one type together is wrong on many levels. Look at the American Japanese who were interned in this country because of their race. We need to learn from the past. We can still be alert without labeling everyone.

Anne Marie said...

JMO, I think it will be next to impossible to wipe out Islam extremists, who do have Muslim background. Even if the leaders are wiped out, there are thousands more who will fill in, and they are stationed all over the world. For most of us, this will not stop in our lifetime. The most we can do personally, is to keep calling on God for peace, and try to live our lives in our communities peacefully, and pray that we will not be attacked. There are no guarantees. This is the age we live in, unfortunately. We cannot go around hating all Muslims because of the radicals. We live in an evil world, where shootings and killings go on every day in the US, because of the gangs. All these people are seeking power in one form or another.

Anne Marie said...

The American Japanese were interned for their safety, because people in their communities turned on them, which was total ignorance.

Islam as a religion is a problem and promotes violence, extreme oppression of women, gays. Ironically Adam can never come to my home country despite his legions of fans because his existence is illegal by Islam. Muslim-phobia maybe, but you can't determine the degree everyone believes in the literal Islam. Islam is not a race though, and you kinda prove my point that Americans don't generally differentiate betweem Islam and Muslims or people's nationalities.

But then again, all religions are outdated and have violence sexism and violation of human rights at their core whether today you don't agree with every word of it literally or do

I love The Light said...

Anyway, who called him Levine? Did something just happen? Why didn't he leave the tweets so everyone can learn? Come one, don't be scared of Levine! Did anyone criticize him?

ila said...

Anne Marie, the Japanese-Americans were not interned for their safety but rather due to war hysteria and racism. It was a violation of civil rights. If it had been for their protection their homes and assets would have been protected. The Japanese-Americans in Hawaii were not interned because they were the majority of the labor pool there and legislation was passed to exclude them from internment. The decisions about who was interned was based on racism and political goals. Comparatively very few national Germans or German-Americans on the east coast were interned.

ila said...

I love the light, you are sounding racist by saying Islam is a problem. I work with a couple of people who are Muslim and they are horrified by what extremists have done. They practice a religion of love and peace. Just as you cannot claim all Christians are alike you cannot claim all Muslims are the same. Extremists of any group are usually not good.

I don't know who you are referring to as not recognizing the differences between Islam, Islamist, Muslim, and different nationalities, but I can assure you I do and I am American. Thanks for thinking all of us are alike just like you think all Muslims are alike.

I love The Light said...

Racist against who? Myself, my family and friends? wow some people are really low on IQ. I just explained Islam is not a race, nor Islam=muslim, nor every Middle eastern=Muslim, and not even every Middle-eastern=Arab. Simple facts right? Nope. Americans can get really funny when they act like philosophers trying to teach us about Islam when they can't even tell the difference between Islam and Muslim and race.
I'll just say stay out of my country's problems and the religion I lived with everyday, and instead focus on your own country's problems and Christianity/Judaism

ila said...

I love the light, sorry, I misused racist, I should have said bigoted and prejudiced against the Islamic religion and those that practice it, Muslims.

I get that not all of those from the many counties in the Middle East are Muslim and that they could be Palestinian, Arab, Persian, Syrian, etc etc. I also know Islam is a religion whose followers are called Muslim and that Islam has two main denominations- Sunni and Shia. Their holy book is the Quran. Need I go on for you? While many countries do incorporate Islam into their governments, that doesn't mean Muslims aren't following the religion of Islam. I don't get what you are saying with Islam doesn't equal Muslim and Americans don't get the difference between Islam and Muslim. Do you think Islam isn't a religion like Christianity and Buddhism? Are you using Islam as a political group identifier? If that is the case, Sunni and Shiite leaders and Muslims around the world have denounced the Islamic State.

I love The Light said...

oh god, what do you know about Islam you funny know-it-all commando? Islam is a religion with a set of nonnegotiable abhorrent fundamentals. A Muslim is a PERSON who's been given a label whether they don't or do accept or practice Islam in whatever degree.

If you want to defend Islam start by capturing your gay idol and hand him over for torture and execution according to non-disputable Sharia laws, and cover your body and mouth as a woman in time. Make sure you ask your male guardian for permission before going out or using the internet again.

As a Persian-American myself, I know of many opposition groups inside and outside of Iran who are crying for reform or change in religious laws that aren't good for today. A lot of them got persecuted by this very fact in Iran just because the basic human rights are neglected. They want a secular government. Now are they Islamphobic? I was called Islamphobic on Twitter and IG just because I mentioned that Islamic laws are outdated and creates problems by discriminating against women, children, other religious minority group, LGBT, etc. How can I be Islamphobic when I see more than half of my compatriots are discriminated by these ancient laws? We should all understand UN human rights declaration and defend it: http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/

@ deraden

This^^
We received so much persecutions and horrors because of Islam that we had to run away from our homelands, now where we are supposed to be free to speak out the truth about Islam, they call us "Islamophobes" for bringing awareness.

I would not disagree that you should not generalize Muslims because they practice it to varied degrees, but it is a very misleading and ignorant insult to call us Islamophobe for criticizing barbaric fundamentals of Islam (Not all Muslims as a whole)

Anonymous said...

@ila, my close Muslim friends none of them practice Islamic laws. Actually most of them don't believe in any one of the organized religions. With all the embarrassing events by extremists, they are becoming more disdain to call themselves Muslim or even believe in God. They fit the liberal description of Islamphobic perfectly even though at one point they were Muslims. I defend Muslims more than they do now.

@I love the light, I think we both made American Glamberts confused with our comments. They are scratching their heads now trying to evaluate their thinking. Probably Adam is thinking about this too. BTW I love The Light track on TOH album.

As usual.Glitzy you mirror my thoughts & I'm in complete agreement. Without risk we never would have freedom in this country. We have always been a nation of immigrants & how can we now deny those that are suffering and being slaughtered? The Japanese indeed were not interred for their safety. My dad was a dining car steward during World War 2 that was on the very same railroad cars that were transporting these Japanese US citizens to the camps. He couldn't believe what was happening. He knew many American Japanese that were loyal citizens. Their property and homes were confiscated by the US govt. and it was a travesty and borne out of fear. We have to be vigilant and alert as in every other country now, but we must also be brave and compassionate & not let Isis dictate our humanity. I realize there are risks of terrorists who will try to enter on the backs of these immigrants, but they are already entrenched in every country and if we turn suffering people away we are less of a nation. I can only speak for myself and my own sense of humanity & hope for unity & safety.

Actually there is a verse in Quran that I'm trying to find that Muhammad said if my followers understand the real truth in my revelation the glory of Islam will last for a thousand year, if not, and my followers misinterpret my revelation will last for 500 years. If you notice the first five hundred years of Islamic world was at its best in science, math, literature, poems, architectures, arts, medicine, etc. After five hundreds years, thanks to misinterpretation of the clergies, the Islamic world went into its darkness. Still sharia laws were good for certain period of time and those laws aren't good today.

I usually keep my mouth shut about the topic of Islam because I know to discuss this topic, people have to be very educated about its actual beliefs. Americans, as a whole, are not educated about this religion. When I lived full-time in Israel, I ran a safe-haven for Muslim women that had to escape their families in Muslim countries so not to be murdered. Their husbands and fathers had the right to unmercifully kill them under Muslim law. When I lived in Egypt, I ran a safe-haven group for Coptic Christians. These Coptic Christians lived every day of their lives in fear of being murdered by Muslims, just for the fact they were Christians. One thing I hope my darling Adam understands is that he better be very thankful that he lives in this great country of America. He wouldn't be so outwardly liberal if he lived in a Muslim country. They would throw his beautiful homosexual body off the top of a building, or torture him in horrible ways for being gay. His incredible free speech about Islamophobia can only be espoused because he is a free American. @I LOVE THE LIGHT has the TOTAL right to say what he or she has to say because, unlike the majority of Americans, he or she has lived under the torture of the mentality of Sharia law, even though not a Muslim. There needs to be a great reformation in the religion of Islam. Moderate Muslims certainly understand this. Until we start to see a million-man-march amongst moderate Muslims against this horrific strain of Islamic terrorism, the battle for change and reformation will not happen. Only moderate Muslims can change this ancient through modern horror which has imprisoned us all. And, one more thing, to all of the very tolerant liberals, if that day should ever come that your beloved family member is killed in an Islamic terrorist attack, I would love to read your tolerant blog that you will write to all of us to just forgive and love and understand that they had a legitimate reason to kill your loved one. Believe me, I fully understand hate and bias in this world do exist and have certainly been used against innocent people. A number of my friends' families were totally wiped out in the Holocaust. I have no beef with moderate Muslims who live in America and follow our laws, but they must LOUDLY speak out against horrific Muslim terrorism for the sake of humanity. Margarita Lady

Adam has every right to speak his opinion. IMO more people should speak out, but when you're rich and living in freedom, sometimes you don't give a shit. They're living in their own little bubble, and only care about themselves. We can't control how other people feel, but we can control and express our own opinions, and just not stand in the background and keep our mouths shut. SPEAK UP PEOPLE!!!!

Unknown said...

So when do we demand conservative fundamental Christians change their ways and beliefs? (Yes the killing and terrorism by extremists must stop but beyond that....)

Anonymous said...

@unknown, Christian world went through it already. There is a seperation of church and state in place. A lot of conflicts happened in the past to get to this point. Islamic laws are embedded in constitution of every Islamic country. Some have it in more sever form than others. Such ISIS in ultimate form of seventh century. Saudi Arabia. Iran. Other Islamic countries have the Sharia laws in some forms written in their constitutions. There is no seperation of religion from rules of Islamic countries.

Anonymous said...

BTW Iran had a constitution hundred years ago that had a separation of religion from rules of the country. With it came about Pahlavi Dynasty that enforced this separation by giving full equal rights between women and men and equal rights of all citizens with different religions, races, and ideas. Shah of Iran symbolized the gender equality by crowning his wife as an Empress with full equal rights of governing the country when or if he dies before his son reaches the age of 18 as part of the constitution. This ticked off the clergies and also many of other modernization of the country he pursued which granted the clergies to revolte against him in 1979.
