As some have been aware, Adam Lambert's "Another Lonely Night" Official Music Video recently had the comments section disabled, which at first was puzzling and alarming.

There were comments from some fans from more than one fandom, sadly including Adam's,  that were hateful and mean-spirited..  Silly fan wars that escalated into a hate-fest..

Adam restored the comments section today.

This is Adam's message on the video at the top of the comments section:

Adam Lambert:  When I visited the comments section here, I was so appalled at the vicious tone of many comments that I just wanted to shut it down. Instead, I want to ask for some peace, love and tolerance. Anyone who knows me, understands that that I want to unite rather than divide people, and that I am all about celebrating our differences.

Let's hope people who comment on the music video will respect Adam and all that he represents: his kindness, his generous spirit, his gentle soul, beautiful heart, and his request "for peace, love, and tolerance".

And if you feel so inclined, please watch the video and leave a comment to Adam..

How sad that Adam has to put up with such ignorance. He's always so positive and open and welcoming. I'll never understand where these cruel and ignorant commenters get their ideas.

I noticed when I went to give it some views earlier. I wondered why. So sad. Why are people so mean. Good for Adam taking a stand. Though I worry about him. We must make sure we still give the video heaps of views.

Did not the the aforementioned comments. I've never understood trolls or what motivates them I for one am so excited to be going to my first Adam concert in St. Louis on Dec.16. Can't wait to hear that incredible voice

It's sad that both sides said enough ugly things to each other that Adam had to make a statement :(

I wasn't aware that any negative comments were being made, though it doesn't surprise me. When there's anonymity involved, people feel emboldened to say whatever disgusting things they choose with no consequences. That's the mark of social media, unfortunately.

Adam's comments represent the same integrity and beauty that he epitomizes in his character, personality, and in his performances. Let's all spread the same behavior and overcome meanness with tolerance and kindness. Stay broken open to beauty and tenderness.

I quit looking at the comments a long time ago. Glamberts also trying to respond to the haters (mostly one big one) got crazy with language and hate filled repsonses. Either way was not what Adam perferred. I commented that Paris lined the streets last night in song, shouting, with Love and JOY to show the world the haters did not win. Adam does that everyday when he is out and about meeting the world. His singing is icing on the cake.

I have not read those comments and I don't intend to. Don't want to boost my blood pressure. From what I understand, the main target of the comments was Gigi, not Adam. Not matter who is the target, it's wrong to do such a thing. And yes, I also heard that there was one main flame-thrower who got the war going and he/she tends to do it a lot on sites. All the more reason to NOT respond to trolls. I learned my lesson when I was new to fan sites and sometimes took the bait. Now I know better. I agree that we should give the video tons for hits. That's the thing that will help Adam.

Adam has been on a roll lately, with his comments about other peoples comments. The Isis problem and how the government wants to handle it, the mixing up of his name with Levine's, and now about comments on his ALN video, which I have not read. My only comment about the video is that some people love it and some think parts are in poor taste, especially when he wants millions of people to see it. Of course there will be negative as well as positive comments. He took a risk with that video, and even some fans don't just blindly follow everything Adam. Some do and think he can do no wrong. JMO I think Adam is a great, fun loving guy, apart from his stupendous voice, but negative comments will always be there. I believe most celebrities have to accept that. Adam's idea of tolerance is not everybody's, and not everybody has to accept a video, that in parts, are against their beliefs.

@Anne Marie
Adam was not so much referring to comments about himself or the composition of the video itself, as he was addressing the mean-spirited, hateful comments directed at others.. He's a kind man, and from what I can see in his actions, (having closely observed him over the past 6 plus years (as so many of us fans have) ;)), he's thoughtful and sensitive toward others' feelings, and no doubt it pained and probably angered him to see nastiness, rudeness, snark, etc.. aimed at others. And he needed some time to process it.

I seriously doubt that Adam would disable comments on the video simply because of negative comments about the video itself. He's been in the biz long enough to take criticism. He knows it may not be everyone's cup of tea..

I personally understand his reaction and his plea for peace, love & tolerance..

He has every right to speak out and to take whatever action he feels in his heart is appropriate. Not only in regards to his music video but on other subjects that he feels strongly about.. Just like we all do..

glitzylady, OK I agree with you. IMO Adam should not use his free speech to talk about things that he really does not know the actual reality. I mentioned the Isis, he made comments about also. People should scroll down and not miss what JEAN REANARD's comments were about this subject. Peace, love and tolerance is just a dream in this world today, not a reality. Adam has led a very sheltered life in a free country. But I wish he could read Jeans comment, and he might get a better understanding of the situation.

I have been a frequent viewer of ALN on Ytube & I have read some of the comments to which ADAM referred. They were not targeted at the video nor ADAM as much as the girl who was the minister in the video. I reported as many as I could but they were just too nasty & numerous for me to read them all. Most of them were directed at her & her fans. I thanked her fans for giving ADAM so many nice comments regarding the video & his concept & even though they were there to view the video for her at first ... thanked them for returning to enjoy ADAM as well as her. I get a lot of 'flak' when I respond but not so much on the comments section ... they leave it through my Ytube account. Who cares ... I have a delete button which I use with great satisfaction!!

As for the video itself ... it is now on my Music Choice on Demand channel on TV & my grandson, G-grandson & I watch it over & over along with Ghost Town. When we get to the 'naughty' word I substitute my own version LOUD & CLEAR so they don't hear it!! Otherwise they are avid little fans of ADAM & his music!! I guess I've said enough (maybe too much) for now ... please forgive my rant!! Light 'n Love

There is more than the "naughty" word that is not suitable for young folks to watch.
It is definitely an adult video. That is one of the things wrong in this world, that adults allow children to watch adult things. Then they become blasé and acceptable of such things, as the every day norm. JMO I am an adult and only listen to the song, and not the video, because in my world it is in bad taste. In Adam's world it is the norm. Apparently some people think it is OK for children too.
Forgive my rant, too.

Anne Marie said...

I forgot to add that even Adam, leaves out the "naughty" word when he is on radio or TV, because he and his team know it is not suitable for a family audience. When he wrote it, he should have left it out, in the first place. Basically he can only use it at his discretion for his solo tour. It's a common word in his own vocabulary, and I realize that these days you will hear it a lot from others too.

If you think peace, love and tolerance are impossible in this world then they will be. I believe it is possible in this world and try to do my part to contribute to that. If more of us are striving for a world like that then more and more of the world will be like that. And no, I am not naiive or sheltered. I did not grow up middle class or wealthy and I have since travelled the world extensively.

Anne Marie said...

Peace love and tolerance have been impossible since Adam and Eve, if you have ever read history. What is going on now is not new, the faces change, but the war for hatred and greed will not stop. Yes we can do our bit in our own communities, but that is not going to change what is going on in other parts of our country or the world.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I am not the only one.... Peace, love and tolerance, we should do our part to bring more of it to the world.

O.K. I have to tell this story.
I was visiting my son and his family just at the time Adam released his "Another Lonely Night" video. I was very anxious to see it, and talked my 11-year old grandaughter into helping me find it on her computer... which we did. Before I realized what was happening, she and I were witnessing a male stripper, wearing only a thong, getting VERY personal with a ringside fan! I was SO shocked.. and, truthfully, angry and embarrassed that I found myself showing that to my young granddaughter --completely unsuspecting. I still cringe thinking about it!

I would love to take my 11-yr. old grandaughter to an Adam Lambert concert -- and have been trying to turn her into a fan, but, as much as I love Adam. I'm not sure he's always "suitable" for very young fans. Too bad, because they would be his fan-base when we older fans are "gone".

I love Adam, his voice, his personality, his ethics, his kindness, his looks -- have from day one. 99.9% of the time he is perfect. But that 1% can be raunchy and offputting! Call me a prude, if you want, but I hate to have to "explain" male or female strippers--and why -- to my grandchildren that they don't need to know about at their young ages.

The concept and story behind the video were good (even entertainers or celebrities have lonely nights) but it just went into TOO MUCH DETAIL on the stripper part.

There's already too much "skin" being used to sell music! Just thinking. My opinion.

Come on now… This may be news to you, but I’m pretty sure the 11 year old has seen more than a man’s abs and buttocks…oh the horror! Actually, don’t be surprised if she’s already seen porn on the internet or her friends have shown her.

But, what mostly maddens me is that you had no problem with the wedding officiate, who wasn’t even playing a stripper, flashing boobs and abs twice for absolutely no reason, and being filmed in tiny shorts. This is the double standard for men Adam talked about. You don’t even have to watch anything to come across completely nude women in adverts and posters left and right. Media pushing female asses and boobs in our face constantly is the norm, but the minute a man shows skin it’s so disgustingly vulgar. I actually found it refreshing that he used a male dancer instead of hypocritically using a female like in every other sexist video. It is good for breaking the taboo of male nudity and women’s right to enjoy it. And it’s good for men to think about a dose of their own medicine when it makes them uncomfortable or insecure

Nanbert said...

To clarify my remarks, if you read them, I said "it went into TOO MUCH DETAIL". I didn't say there shouldn't be a male stripper at all. And I have to add that I would have objected just as much if the stripper was a female interacting with the audience in such a PERSONAL manner on a video... TOO MUCH DETAIL!

As far as the wedding officiate, she was certainly dressed more than most people you see on the beach -- and she had a bra on. I was puzzled by your surprisingly sharp criticism... "flashing boobs and filmed in tiny shorts", while you didn't even mention anything about the other woman in the video in a filmy negligee.

But on reflection, your distaste appears to be directed to the officiate because she is transgender, and perhaps if the women had been reversed, you wouldn't have objected to the "flashing boobs and filmed in tiny shorts"! Strange reaction! Why should you be "maddened" because I see no problem with her?

Last, understand that I was not referring to the "state of undress" of ANY of the people in the video... all three had beautiful bodies ... I only found fault with the ACTIONS.

And yes, my grandaughter may have inadvertantly seen something similar at other times.... but does that mean that therefore its O.K. to bombard her with it all the time from now on? She is bombarded too much already!

However, I can teach her to not be judgmental -- that LGBT people are completely "normal", that skin color is unimportant, that genders are equal, and there's room for all of us of good will. Adam is right, and a good example to follow.

But, I still feel that "SKIN" is used too much to sell music!!!!
