Idolator: Official Video! Steve Aoki, Felix Jaehn & Adam Lambert’s “Can’t Go Home”

Steve Aoki and Felix Jaehn want you to know you can’t go home, but you sure can monkey around. The two dance music maestros’ collaborative effort “Can’t Go Home” features impeccable vocals by Adam Lambert, and the adorable accompanying video focuses on a special bond between a beautiful beach goer and her chimpanzee friend.
The introspective chimp sits alone in his waterfront home, feeling restless until he meets his new lady friend. They spend time getting to know each other, but eventually have a falling out over something in the primate’s past. Fear not, though — it’s all sand, smiles and moving forward with life by the sunny clip’s end.

Awh lovely video,good song x
I may be the only one, but even for a summer jam, think that this video is just awful. Is this the best that creative minds can come up with? A MV should support the music, lyrics, theme and singer with a visual format that creates interest in the song. A theme built around Adam would have been so preferable to a performance by a chimp. Busy as he is, Adam would have found the time to shoot a video, doesn't take that long. Very disappointed in the Aoki/Jaehn team. This is not a video that prompts one to watch over and over.
Well, it sure it out of the norm from what we would expect for this song. And maybe that's the whole point. It has nothing to do with traditional romance, etc. It's just darn cute and sweet. There likely will not be any other video made for this song, so if this one gets a good number of views and lets people hear Adam's voice, I say, that's fine with me. Awfully cute chimp!
Well, well ... this is the vid of the summer? Meh and ish! Mescegination is now to be redefined as romancing an animal and this is supposed to be cool? I, for one, consider this a puerile attempt for attention. And I'm sorry there is no way I can unsee this mess and I am sad that Adam's luxuriant vocals were wasted on this absurd bid for notoreity. And if memory serves, wasn't the animal that chewed off a woman's face a chimpanzee?
I wasn't sure I liked the song totally, but I really think this video is bad... I agree that it doesn't seem to promote the song very well.
I was hoping for Adam singing in it!
I agree with Voltairie I am surprised that Adam agreed to do this, or might not have known a chimp would have been involved, when he recorded it. I like the song, but the video is stupid, after a few seconds, I had to look away and just listen to Adam singing.
I love the song, but the video is ridiculous. How about substituting the monkey with a man....let's see... what man should have been in the video? Someone who SANG the song? Someone beautiful to look at? Someone who would be perfect as the girl's love interest? OH YEAH!....ADAM! Why didn't I think of that?
This is OT - but NBC is starting their Olympics promos. Apparently "Live Forever" by the Band Perry is the "song" of the Olys and will be performed in Rio. The song did nothing for me and did not seem to resonate with the crowd, especially the athletes who were there. Don't know if it will grow legs. Without bias, WTTS would have been a perfect fit!
I still remain negative about the CGH video - another lost opportunity for Adam to be show cased in a classy sensual MV to a new audience.
I'm guessing that the metaphorical message in the video is that you can't be taken out of your natural environment and expect to easily "go home" again, because nothing is the same anymore. Maybe I'm all wrong, but at least that theory gives the concept some logic. If people find it cute, then they'll watch it, maybe multiple times. That's a good thing.
Anonymous8 and Voltairie: I feel exactly the way you do about the video. It didn't connect with the music or the lyrics and watching the antics of the chimp was silly. It was a real waste of Adam's beautiful vocals.
A woman and a chimp. Come on. It is not "cute". It is ridiculous. A waste of Adams talent to be part of this video. The vocals are great, but I won't be watching this.
