ABC News: GOP Under Pressure From Queen: Stop Using Its 'Champions' Anthem (Adam Lambert Mention)

And the "We Are The Champions" saga continues....
As we know, the surviving members of the iconic rock group QUEEN have asked the Republican Party and Donald Trump to stop using their classic song "We Are The Champions" in association with their convention and for other political purposes.
Dr. Brian May asked them to refrain from further use of their music after it was used last month at a political event, saying in part:
"Regardless of our views on Mr Trump’s platform, it has always been against our policy to allow Queen music to be used as a political campaigning tool".
We know it was used once again last night (7-18-16) at the Republican National Convention.
Roger Taylor tweeted his feelings earlier today with the words "A good song forever poisoned."

Well, if the RNC did get official permission to use the song, Brian May and Roger Taylor were certainly not aware of it. Who gave the permission? Hope we get more info on this, because it will teach us all more about the legalities of using music publicly and what the rights of the artist and the user really are. I sure don't know what the legal facts are. You'd think that at the very least, BM and RT would be informed of this "permission" thing.
It doesn't seem that Sony is aware of any permissions being given either.. So yeah, the truth will come out eventually.. And perhaps some heads will roll, so to speak..

Hurray!... Whew! Trump didn't use "We are the Champions" again last night. I was afraid he would be pig-headed enough to continue its use. Hope that's the end of it... but you never know.
