Kinda tired of the American Idol runner-up thing. But hey, this is great news!

Dee R Gee, I agree. Some more informed writers are saying "American Idol Star" or "American Idol Alum"... it's about time that they all caught up! At least we rarely see the "openly gay" singer remark much anymore.

American Idol was the launching pad (so to speak) for Adam's wonderful career. He isn't ashamed of being on American Idol & rightly so because without it, he may not be enjoying all the success he's achieved and we may never had heard of him, and that would be very sad indeed.

Fluttsp... You're quite right... Adam owes a lot to his American Idol exposure. He has often said as much. I'll be the second to say so, as will, I'm sure Dee R Gee.

Basically, what Dee R Gee and I were referring to is something many of us here have discussed or remarked upon over Adam's career.

It seems a lot of people do not give much credibility to TV talent show winners... thinking of them as "shower singers" or weekend "karaoke" singers. In other words..."they have not paid their dues". Of course, we know that is not true of Adam -- he was performing since the age of 10...mostly in musicals. The average person does not know that.

Have you ever read some of the comments after Adam's music, or articles about him on the internet? Many are nasty and derogatory about him "losing" American Idol. Especially many Queen (Freddie) fans were really harsh on Adam -- pointing out that he had no business singing in Freddie's place because he was only a "runner -up". They acted like it was shameful for him to be singing with Queen! They were already "predisposed" to dislike him.

That's why some of us are over sensitive to the expression "American Idol Runner-Up" used in articles by others who don't know much about Adam...or don't like him. Most people who like Adam have droppped the "runner-up" part because they recognize it is misunderstood or causes misconceptions about Adam. He has had to work extra hard to prove himself to doubters.

When I told a friend Adam Lambert was in American Idol he literally snorted. Of course he was quite jealous of Adam Lambert to begin with :>).

I've read derogatory remarks made about Adam, and not only about him "losing" American Idol. You're not going to change some people's views of American Idol .... in connection with Adam or not. Some people don't like any TV reality talent shows period. Adam is criticized by some re his singing with Queen because they are Queen purists, just as Adam's fans are Adam purists. Not everyone is going to like the same singer, and in this world of freedom of speech and the internet, there are people who like to let their views be known online and elsewhere, whether their views are complimentary or derogatory. I've also read nasty comments made by Glamberts about other artists .... including Freddie Mercury. It's not a war .... there is room for more than one great singer in the world, both male and female.

I agree fluttsp!

Exactly, fluttsp. Basically we're saying the same thing.

However, I do resent people looking down on Adam as if he came from "the wrong side of the tracks" and "even lost there", as an excuse to cut him down. American Idol has contributed more top singers than an other TV talent show, and deserves recognition for that. And Adam is the Creme de la Creme of that group.

If it hadn't been for American Idol, Adam and Queen would almost certainly have never met... and what a loss to the world that would have been!

But, by the sheer brilliance of his voice, stage presence and charisma, Adam has overcome many of his naysayers.. and captured most of the rest of the world in the process!

And to Hell with the Trolls!
