This reply to Adam by me on twitter pretty much sums up my thoughts on Adam's "Ring Of Fire" performance on Idol: (I could have said more but only so many characters allowed per tweet...)

"Your performance of #RingOfFire was the moment of absolute clarity & understanding of who we were seeing on that stage. ❤️’d you from the 1st moment I saw u on Idol but the *fire*, the passion, the absolute honesty & courage of ROF 🔥was (& u continue to be today) a revelation"

Right on, glitzylady.... it was a brilliant finalizing "revelation". Nothing has been the same for me since that performance. I was a fan from Adam's first audition....but I was a !!!!FAN!!!! after "Ring of Fire"!

I need THAT voice... hopelessly addicted!

I love Adams hair long like when He was on Idol. Give us that look again. And give us a good old classic rock and roll album. That is my opinion. Love Ring of Fire also, Adams version.

Yes, I agree with everyone here, Adams version of "Ring of Fire" was unique and eerily amazing! However Randy Travis's expressions on his face still cracks me up! Randy was a good sport about this version, while Simon exclaimed "What the hell is that"! Hahahaha.

As usual, Simon was just playing his part....as "resident curmudgen". As soon as he jumped on Adam about something, it put everyone else in a "protective/combative" role...and actually got people more on Adam's side. I believe it was quite deliberate on Simon's part....to help Adam.....by reverse psychology, IMO.
