This is going to be great, is it going to be televised?
This is exciting.
I remember when we were all pushing for Adam and Melissa to do a duet. Can't remember the circumstances tho. It's been a few years ago.
I don't know about tv coverage. I will be waiting for youTube. I only have 'rabbit-ear' tv.
Melissa is a fantastic singer! I am SO excited that Adam will sing with her! Great exposure for him!
Doesn't say anything about it being televised. Some times these things aren't. But it sure is a high-profile gig for Adam! Great news!
Fantastic! Can't wait. They'll be great!
Hope it'll be on TV....i.e. a channel I can get... I'm on a budget plan!
I've always had a crush on ME and the thought of Adam singing with her that amazing song is going to be epic!
BTW.....notice in the above (linked) Billboard Article....
"...Glad Media Awards announced that QUEER rock icons Melissa Etheridge and Adam Lambert will be opening up the 29th Annual Glad Media Awards."...(my caps on queer to bring to everyones's attention).
Notice the interesting/practical way "queer" is used here....kind of as an inclusive word, rather than bothering to define Melissa as Lesbian, and Adam as Gay. I guess that works especially well when indicating a mixed group of LBGTQ people....as Queers.
I can see now a major reason for the word being added to the latest edition of its "Glaad Media Resource Guide"...which is the industry standard for fair and accurate reporting on the LGBTQ community.
I'll admit to a bit of discomfort in using the word "queer", because when I was younger, that word was used in a derogatory manner. But now, it is considered a proper word, so I will accept the LBGTQ community's choice of how they wish to be addressed.
Queer has always been a "proper" word for me. I've always understood the word "queer" to mean strange/odd/peculiar. Now it's used in a positive way as part of LGBTQ. There's also LGBTQIA which adds Intersex & Asexual.
Nanbert, I remember it like you do. "Queer" was used as a derogatory term for a gay person. It also means "odd" or "strange" but those don't have the same sexual connotation. Language does evolve over time. I'm glad that "queer" now means something positive. And it saves all that keyword time that it takes to peck out LGBTQ. LOL.
This duet will be be amazing! If it won't be televised somehow, then I'll wait for a video!
fluttsp and Dee R Gee....I should havbe clarified the above to say that the word "queer" in the "olden days"ALSO meant strange/odd/peculiar--- just as it does today. But to say that someone was "a queer" was not meant kindly. Fortunately people have become less and less homophobic through the years.
In a sense, embracing the word "queer" in the LGBTQ community takes the last of the "sting" out of the word for them.... and for us.
They've graduated from "queer" back then to "gay" now!! I've heard it used to mean other than what it means by some nasty people .. why must we label everyone?? Only the "straight" people don't have to endure being called something other than what they are .. I just don't get it .. never have .. never will!! I flinch every time I hear someone use either word ... maybe I take things too seriously!!

Perhaps Queer/Q is a kind of veil that LGBT people shield themselves with; yes, it's a harsh world for them. Q embraces LGBT and if someone wants to protect their rightful privacy and not wish to completely disclose if they are L G B or T, using Queer is an ambiguous umbrella term and protective, so it will not feel derogatory to them.
I've not heard Adam address himself as Queer because he is completely open about his sexuality; but many may not be, and even feel threatened.
I think let the LGBT or LGBTQ people decide how they would like to address themselves as rather than what we think they should be called.
Finally, I always view a person by their character not by their gender or colour or creed. It's their honesty in thinking and action, no personal or double-standard agenda...these and other good qualities make a person trustworthy.
Party at Adam's house!
Hey Pharaoh! Wah, you got a bird's eye-view.
Hi Lam-My! I see a lot of people below my window. I wish I could join in but I think Daddy is afraid I might be stepped on.
Awww, your Daddy sure is protective of you.
But I can hear the boom boom and people laughing and talking. I'm trying to look for Daddy in the crowd.
It's okay Pharaoh, don't look so anxious. Your Daddy is a Rockstar, bound to have many friends and guests.
Ooooeeeh! I spotted Daddy... Daddy Daddy!
