Rolling Stone announced this morning that Adam Lambert will join a galaxy of stars saluting the late, great and legendary musical genius David Bowie in a virtual tribute called Just For One Day (also being referred to as "A Bowie Celebration") on January 8, 2021, which is Bowie's birthday.  Songs to be performed have yet to be revealed.

Other notable artists appearing include Macy Gray, Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan, Andra Day, Duran Duran, Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Gavin Rossdale, and another legend who was a childhood friend of Bowie's, Peter Frampton.

Adam has repeatedly stated that Bowie was one of his major musical influences.  You may remember that he performed a Bowie medley on the American Idol summer tour that followed his participation on the show in 2009.  The songs he performed were "Life On Mars," "Fame" and "Let's Dance" (see video below).

Various ticket packages may be found at the link below and are onsale now.  $2 from every ticket purchased will go to Bowie's favorite charity, Save The Children.

Very exciting news! Bowie is in Adam's soul. Excited to find out what he'll be singing!

I wish more of these things would get broadcast on TV.

Maybe Adam'll sing that medley shown above....if so, hopefully with the body language toned down a bit! I'm still convinced that the reactions Adam received during that American Idol tour to his sexy moves led him to expect the same responses to that near-fatal performance on the AMA's! I'll probably get some disagreement on this.... but just my thoughts.

While watching the performance in the video above again after all this time, I am again struck by the awesomeness of his VOICE! But the audience there was reacting like he was a singing male-stripper! Sexy, yes, but don't EVER distract too much from that voice!

It's taken Adam longer than it should to achieve the gravitas his voice/performance ability deserves. We're beginning to see that now. THAT'S what will make him iconic...not just body-rolls and pelvic thrusts. Anyway, he's sexy just standing there and singing, IMO. We older generation have good imaginations...and don't need to have "sexy" jammed in our faces, haha. Adam is a superb performer now that he's tastefully toned down a bit...and MUCH classier, IMO. "Sexy" is now just a part of his "performance vocabulary". But, yes, he STILL has his moments!!! heh heh...and that's good, too, from time to time.

I definitely hope he'll do at least "Let's Dance" on the Bowie Tribute. I remember him first bringing it on his "Original High" tour in memoriam to Bowie right after his death was announced...and kept it on the program for the rest of the tour. It was great!

can't wait - it will be awesome.
BTW just this minute on radio Proud FM Toronto they are playing If I Had You!!!
sadly it's rare to hear him on radio but I'll take it whenever.

Yay for Adam and yay for us! I went to the Chicago American Idol show and I had a hard time hearing Adam from all the females young and old screaming. Hahaha Boy Adam always with those sexy moves since back then, but I love it!!!

Nanbert said...

Off topic a bit....I just checked out that billboard poll that Adam was in....it's still running, and Adam is still winning....Adam-62% vs. BTS-29.63%. Don't know why they don't shut it down and declare Adam the winner!

Dee R Gee said...

Yeah, I wish they'd end that darn poll. It's done. They should just announce the winner.

Just saw Mayor Pete give his acceptance speech as the nominee for Secretary of Transportation. Hope he gets approved. He is a smart, capable young man. Rising star.

Pete is also cute as a bugs ear.

Yes he is.

Dee R Gee....agreed....Mayor Pete's definitely a rising star!

I've been very impressed by Mayor Pete (I wonder if that name will continue throughput his career!) since the first time he turned up in the National spotlight. He's extraordinarily intelligent, articulate and charming....a breath of fresh air...reminds me of Obama when he first appeared on the National scene.

But, if we don't get those two Georgia Democratic senators elected....McConnell's Senate will never approve Mayor Pete!

Adam and Mayor Pete seemed to hit it off that time they had an online interview.

My nail polish arrived today. The purple is called 'grapeilicious' and the green is called 'pucker up'. The bottle is labeled 'Adam Lambert'. Underneath that is ' VELVET' with waves under each letter. I totally did not expect to get 3 of each. I'm going to wait a couple weeks to make sure they come to room temperature before I try to use them. They have had a long cold journey to get here. I wish I knew of any Adam fans in my area. I would surely share. They are Very pretty.

Nanbert said...

What fun, Patria! However, I don't understand why it would take two weeks to bring them to room temperature. Did they travel with the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine at -80 degree temps?

I guess the purple and green colors are in honor of the cover of Adam's album "Velvet".

Patria said...

Ha ha ha. When you put it that way Nanbert, it doesn't make any sense to wait. So what if I open it and find it's too thick, I have 3 bottles of each color and I can always thin it out. Never tried that before but it sounds easy.

Yes the polish is from his store's Velvet collection of souvenirs. It's a top quality polish that's made of safe ingredients, I would like it to be at it's best when I first try it.

Thanks for the link, Mirela. Great review of....Adam Lambert!!!!! The reviewer said everything I think and feel about Adam, but is considerably more erudite and articulate while saying it. He is definitely a practising Glambert!

Dee R Gee said...

Mi Re La, thanks for that link about TSMGO. I saw it while ago, and it's perfect! That guy REALLY gets it! He really understands what's so special about Adam! He understands why we Glamberts are so freakin' crazy about him.

Dee R Gee said...

Yoo hoo? Anyone? I guess Adam is in holiday mode with family or maybe working on something involving music. Wish we'd get a "hi" from him or something. Looking forward to the Bowie thing!

Nanbert said...

Something only another Glambert would understand...... I spent a couple of hours (as usual) before bed (which was about 4:00 AM) on memory lane....watching youtube videos of Adam solo and QAL. And this site is the first place I come to when I get up!

I don't know how I would have survived this isolation without Adam, Queen and Adam....and all of YOU to keep me company...and sane (although the last might be in question!)

I usually read the comments under those videos (over several years in many cases) and am often jarred to see past comments from our dear departed Lambert Outlaw. She DID love Adam! I seem to remember it was around Christmas time last year that we last heard from her here.

How strange to discover that I can miss a person that I never knew!

Have a happy...but safe...holiday everyone!...and batten down the hatches! We're just entering the worse of this storm! It's too early to drop[ your guard now.

Dee R Gee said...

Well said, Nanbert. In times like these, we all need lifelines. And Adam is one of those lifelines for me, just like he is for you.

Sunflower said...

Today my Adam calendar arrives via 'UPS". Dee R Gee, Adam posted a pic of a red coffee mug that says "Be Merry, came out yesterday or Sunday? Also Adam reposted someone else's IG cartoon pic of an Elf pushing a Mushroom on a cart with the caption Special Delivery. Haha.

In case I don't talk with anyone else today or tomorrow, I Wish You All a Safe and Happy (however it means to us) Christmas/Holiday! I love you all. 🎄❤️

Dee R Gee said...

You too, Sunflower! At least Adam is posted a few pics. He's out there somewhere! LOL

Mi Re La - Thank you SOOO much for that link to the review of The Show Must Go On!!!! It was absolutely amazing and perfect and wonderful!!! I was smiling the entire time listening to that man say all the things we've always known about Adam, but saying it so gloriously.I've saved it and will watch it again. It made me so darn happy. During these dark times, we all need a reason to be happy and this did it for me. Thank you again!! An appreciative fan.

I just reminded my son to watch The Show Must Go On. He lives out of state but we talk all the time. We just watched the new Bee Gees documentary, and he did, too. It is excellent! Even if you were never a BGs fan, it is a great in-depth story of a band that experienced all kinds of ups and downs, going in many directions with their music over the years. I loved it. It's not just a fluff piece, either. It gets into the nitty-gritty of song-writing, genre-switching, etc.

Makes me think of Adam's career and how it is progressing. I think his career in music will have longevity and will take different curves and directions over the years. There will be surprises along the way, and some ups and downs. But I think his legacy will be a positive one.

I am coming back to the comment section on this post and one other post — so, sorry, but some of you may get this message twice! — but it seemed these two were the best posts to make sure that everyone who usually comes to comment sees this. It's about Q+AL Live Around The World, so one of these original posts is definitely "on topic," while the other post is the one about Adam doing the David Bowie tribute but I chose it because it's the most recent one where there are a lot of people commenting.

SO...

Just wanted you guys to know that I found a great deal for the Blu-ray/CD package on DeepDiscount.com. https://www.deepdiscount.com First, it has been discounted down to an amazing $14.49 — THEN, they are offering a further 15% discount on top of that, which is good through Dec. 31st — AND, free shipping if just $25 order, BUT if you are below $25, then it is only a very, very low $1.99 to ship.

I was able to get the whole thing, including tax, for $15.63.

The reason I came about this is that I was looking for a copy to send to a friend, found this great deal, and wanted to pass on to all you guys.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Nanbert said...

Broddybounce, many thanks for that great info....that'll save me some money! I plan to send Blu-Ray/CDs to my two sons and my sister, and was just waiting until after Xmas to do it. Your timing is perfect!
