Now THAT is an interview: thoughtful, well-researched, fresh, and intelligent! Someone who respects the artist and his time, and who knows how to ask and follow up on questions. I could have listened for hours.
i hope people take the time to listen to this...Its soooo good, respectful, in-depth, thoughtful, personal and yes, intelligent...Love listening to both men speak, both so articulate....
***Notice that there is a download button..I just downloaded to my iTunes acct..so can listen to it any time..
Mr.Jian Ghomeshi and Mr.Larry Flick should always interview Adam. I love the soft tone, almost like there were at home, at night, with any other noise but they voices, like they were trying not to bother anybody.Really nice feeling.
Another intelligent, articulate, honest interview with Adam. He has a certain amount of "baggage" that he is almost forced to carry because he is a performer who just happens to be gay and can't seem to get away from that label. He has never hidden who and what he is and yet he often suffers the "slings and arrows " from many in society who completely ignore his superb vocal talent. And that's what his career should be about....the music, his voice, his amazing stage presence and his ability to connect to the audience. Will he have to discuss this subject(his sexuality) for the rest of his life in any interview he does? Adam has the "it" factor that places him so far above everyone else in the music business today. How long will it take before he is recognized and accepted for the amazingingly talented, creative, candid and sensitive person that he is.
Adam has more insight and depth and articulate thought in his little finger than 90% of the silly pop singeres out there. He is MILES beyond so many celebrities who are interviewed. Jian obviously respects Adam and his intelligence. I feel smarter when I listen to Adam speak of his life experiences. I've learned a lot in three years.
@2:23 PM.. I totally agree with you, but you forgot to mention that he is charming and beautiful. I love this man so much..I cannot even say..I get myself sick inside because he should be setting the music business on its ear..but..he is gay..(and there are people who, to this day, associate Adam with his unfortunate AMA performance)...Frankly, I loved it, cause I'm so open minded and kinda out in left field too sometimes..but there are just too many people in this world who are ignorant and homophobic..and I hate that...I really wish the word 'gay' would never be mentioned about Adam again..but I realize that is not gonna happen..like his new video, people need to get up, shake off their ridiculous ignorance..open their eyes to the truth and experience life to its fullest..and feel love and compassion for all of mankind...
Jian was in a moderately successful Canadian band in the 90's (Moxy Fruvous). He likely knows what it's like to be on the other side of a stupid interview. He's just a really good interviewer, no matter who the subject is.
Past interiviews with Adam and Jian have been equally good. Both are intelligent, articulate and have beautiful speaking voices... very easy to listen to!
Wow, a great interview. This guy was so respectful of Adam and you could tell he really liked our boy. I do feel for Adam sometimes because of the gay thing he has to deal with almost daily. I often wonder if Adam was straight what would his life be like -- would he have the same personality, the same sexiness, etc. I guess we'll never know. I just love him for who he is now and I do hope some day he won't ever have to talk in an interview about his sexuality.
LOVED THIS INTERVIEW. I COULD HAVE LISTENED TO THEM ALL DAY. THEY ARE VERY TALENTED AND VERY GOOD CONVERSATIONALISTS. ADAM WENT A LITTLE MORE IN DEPTH IN THIS INTERVIEW ABOUT THE BACKGROUND OF HIS SONGS. I'M SO GLAD HE TALKED ABOUT UNDERNEATH AS IT IS MY SUPER FAVORITE. I CRY EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO IT. HIS VOICE GIVES ME THE SHIVERS AND GOOSE BUMPS. I'M JUST SORRY THERE ARE SO MANY HOMOPHOBES IN THE U.S. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT MATTERS WHO YOU ARE AND WHO YOU LOVE.
I've always wondered what IF the AMA didn't happen. What if ADAM just sang & dance his FYE and blown away the viewers? What was so bad was it was the worst I've heard him sing. And it was the first time he is seen on TV again by former Idol audience. It was just a major mistake. And this new generation do not understand the androgyny of the 70's David Bowie which ADAM was channeling in his campy FYE cover and all the glitter. He would not have this kind of struggle. But I deeply believe he will reach the pinnacle of success but in an unorthodox way. And ADAM will continue to break records. That's his mark.
I think this may be possibly the best interview I've ever heard with Adam. I'm not familiar with the interviewer but he was excellent. How articulate and intelligent both of them were. Adam is incredibly honest and never at a loss for words . I could have listened forever too. I admire and respect Adam so much for the restraint he must show during every interview because of the excessive questions about his sexuality. He's obviously quite frustrated sometimes but always polite and articulate. You've just gotta love this man. He's such a special human being.
I think there is a misconception that the only reason Adam does not have a huge audience is his being gay. I have a large circle of friends and students and we talk about homophobia and since many of the group are gay and lesbian we get a wide variety of opinions. Adam's name comes up frequently and the majority of the group are not his fans. Gay has nothing to do with it. They don't like his music. The concensus is that he is a Michael Jackson, Brittany Spears, Beyonce wanna be. They do think he has an exceptional voice, but have no desire to hear his songs, with a few exceptions. They don't like any of the dance songs and electro pop sounds and gimmicks. They consider his voice wasted.
Did I mentioned this group are all music and theater students?
continued....mention not mentioned. These young people do not dislike Adam, in fact many, male and female would like to date him! What many of you may not want to hear is that his songs they do like are the acoustic ballads. They consider most of his songs fizzy pop.

One of the interviews most enjoyable!
