I want to thank HK fan for bringing a link to a terrific article from a previous thread. It deserves posting here:

American Music Awards Score Lowest Ratings Ever

11/19/12 1:23pmRoger Friedman76

The American public rejected junk pop music last night in a stunning referendum. The American Music Awards scored their lowest rating ever– a 3.4–and lost to everything else that was playing on television. Apparently, even tweens couldn’t make Justin Bieber a hit, let alone the rest of the motley crew that showed up for this second tier awards bonanza.
The ratings were twenty percent lower than last year. And they reflect the fact that aside from Stevie Wonder’s tribute to Dick Clark with two songs, there was nothing for a normal person to watch on that show. Instead it was a celebration of bubblegum pop and bad acts from long ago like M.C. Hammer.
This response should give radio and record labels something to chew on. These young throwaway performers get a lot of tabloid attention, but they aren’t necessarily musicians who people over 21 want to watch or listen to. The constant spectacle of noise and fireworks, special effects and gyrating dancers is a turn off. The AMAs were simply a showcase for style over substance– and they were rejected.
Hopefully the Grammy Awards will include a variety of acts and ages– from Adele to Aerosmith to Janelle Monae and, of course, Justin Timberlake. Also, the AMAs were suspiciously devoid of Gotye and his best single of the year, “Somebody That I Used to Know,” as well as boy band phenom One Direction. But the Grammys also attract a wider following because they feature a little of everything, always mixed and matched by Ken Ehrlich (following the late Pierre Cossette’s lead) into interesting combinations.

Yep, I was right! Diamond boy is gonna spend a lot of time in Asia! Good for him!

These music award shows are supposed to be bestowing recognition firstly for artistic talents and expressions in the vocal, instrumental and other fields of music expertise. Right now they might as well state clearly the awards are for sales, technicalities, business liaisons etc. Firstly, the vocal talent component is most of the time absent, especially when it comes to the delivering of difficult songs / high notes. Many of these award winners simply can't deliver; at times struggling into the mic. But the starkest is, they refuse to recognise Adam's specifically trained singing ability; like projecting his high notes clearly, pitch-perfect, his lower powerful tenor, and even his outstanding songs from both his albums. On the other hand so many international countries can see right through that. Even in the above article, Adam is still pushed out the door. When will they learn...Justice is still much alive, thank goodness. It's not so dire anymore for Adam to be able to take his adventurous climb to the pinnacle of success; the world is at his feet.

Yeah! Adam is getting the awesomeness going! KPOP is MASSIVE
and crammed full of super talent. Adam will be super at home where people will appreciate him to the max. This is soooo exciting! This I have been waiting for and it's come quicker than I expected! Awesome!!!!!

Adam is in his own league, one of international stardom WAY beyond anything artists on the AMA's could EVER come close too!..or even hope too! (Pink I exclude because she rocks internationally in her league of greatness.) Adam Hitting the Asian market is 'Fantastic Baby'! (GD!)I am wrapped for ADAM!

Wake up US else you will loose him.

wow, great news.
I don't think the age limit is to do with Adam so much as the countries rules.
A lot of Asian countries have much higher age restrictions than a lot of countries, eg for films, tv. Even programmes like Love it or list it (a decorating programme) has a rating of 18 in Malaysia!!!!!!

So 5 concerts in Japan in february, now 1 in Korea, same month.....everyone keep your fingers crossed that he announces one in Hong Kong and Singapore whilst he's over this way.

It looks as though Asia is first leg of the Trespassing tour! I hope he gets some stadium-sized shows in China as well.

Does anyone know how big the Korean venue is?

OT ... here's a mixed review of Adam's Johannesburg concert, acknowledging that 'the singer is something special' and indeed he is!!!!!

Wow re article on AMA's. I hope GRAMMY PTB take note! I still keep thinking Esperanza Spaulinding :)!! Those polls might be worth clicking on for sure!

Lam-my....I so agree with your comments about the music awards shows. I sat through the first hour or so of the AMA show and really couldn't watch it too much longer. Every single act was the same with laser lights, pyrotechnics, smoke, gyrating dancers and screaming performers singing unintelligible lyrics. For me, Pink stole the show with her amazing performance. I'm tired of Bieber imitating Usher moves and trying to keep his pants from falling down. And Taylor Swift is not really a country singer any longer although that is where she may have started. All her songs are the same, aren't they? So someone like Adam, the best vocal talent in music today, almost has to resort to going to foreign countries esp. in the Far East where he is loved and supported by a large fanbase. He is fast becoming a global superstar conquering one country at a time being booked way into 2013. Good for him, a loss for us here at home. Thank you for the vids we get to see on this site of all his performances; otherwise, most of us would not know what he is doing in his career becausse nothing seems to be published about him. The VH1 Diva show should be a big boost for him as the host. I will be watching the show to see him and not necessarily these so- called divas. I hope that Adam gets a Grammy nod, but looking at who is out front now in record sales, radio play and other awards shows, I don't know if he will. And that is the sad state of the music business today.

Good news about Adam in Seoul! These countries have huge populations and fanbases. Millions of new Glamberts in the making!
The AMAs ARE based on sales, popularily, etc. Hence the lineup on the show, for good or bad. The Grammys does not rely solely on sales and popularity. It does consider quality. I really hope Adam at least gets a nomination. TP got great reviews and Adam does have recognition as a superior singer. Keep our fingers crossed. Grammy noms are announced on Dec. 5, I think.

I'll be really upset if he doesn't get a grammy nod. Won't be surprized though. Adam really is taking one country at a time. Wonder how long it's gonna takes America to wake up?

Have seen videos of Adam's 3 songs at the Mercedes event and he, of course, sounded great. But it was a very, very stripped down situation - kinda weird, actually.

Thank you for your reply. He'd most likely get a Grammy nom but comparing him with other winners, I don't see why he can't get his first Grammy award. The only reason I can think of is his lower home sales. What about his worldwide sales, shouldn't that be given credit. He is after all bringing money back home and in the process giving employment to musicians, fashion designers, photographers, the list goes on. I think all these awards are based heavily on business liaisons / high-level connections, possibly coupled with biases. If the Grammys are indeed recognition for pure talent first, above other factors, then Adam deserves a Grammy not just a nomination...compared with his contemporaries. If Taylor Swift got 5 a couple of years back, on one show, you mean Adam can't even get one. Moreover the whole world loves him...isn't that popularity too. Open-mindedness.

I've been praying that Grammy recognizes ADAM's critically acclaimed Trespassing album and as the best vocalist in the music industry today.
That's if ever there is any justice at all for this humble electrifying performer.
Keeping my fingers crossed..

Well seems like Adam is going to be busy next year. But is it normal that the tour is so unplanned or is this a tour? Or is it just getting started.. I`m not a expert on this kind of things. Seems also that he won`t be home much so what do you think is Sauli going to be in Finland next year? I don`t think he is going to travel with Adam but that is me.

@daydreamin- I need to research AMA ratings. I read they had thier highest ratings ever (2nd to football on sunday? Don't see how, so I'm inclined to believe the article you have.

So happy for Adam's success overseas!
Adam's the matured one here in good old USA, American Music industry is 2 conservative, double standed, childish, & so afraid of Adam for what he is & his fabulousity & honesty!!!
Fearlfull that Adam will Take Over & they know he will :) like all of us Glamberts all over the world!!!
Sorry if he's straight, OMG!!! they will market him like crazy!!!
Well 2 bad USA :) u r being so so conservative & hypocritical:(,
The so called "3rd World countries are more open & are embracing Adam!!! They know Talent when they see Adam!!! Yay!!! Happy for Adam Lambert!

Adam's a jet setter! He's also performing in NY with Cyndy Lauper on 12/4 & many many more , cannot keep up:)
HK, Korea, SF, NY, Bali, Japan, etc..................

According to the Chicago Tribune, the AMAs this year had the lowest ratings in the show's history. And the Country Music Awards show a few weeks ago had the lowest in its history, too. I think people really are getting tired of the same old performers.
It's time for a shot of ADAM, don't you think?

@11:45......JAK here

I can't keep up with his schedule so I keep a long list of dates & destinations pinned to the curtain by 'my chair'. I came out one morning recently and added in my husband's scrawl was Liechtenstein, Samarkand and Timbuktu!!!! No pie for him tomorrow! Smarta**!

I also think that the audience viewers are getting tired of the same few performers appearing on these awards shows. If they only had talent and were able to sing with auto-tuning or lip-synching. Then add the gyrating dancers and the light show, which are all distractions, but it seems that's what young audiences need because they are so easily distracted and can't focus on one specific thing. The louder, the better for many. Someone like Adam who is so talented has to travel globally to get recognition and support. I believe, however, that he will have longevity in the music business or some other creative art when these untalented, self-absorbed performers will have disappeared into oblivion. Keep on travelling Adam, make all the money they are willing to pay, enjoy yourself, but keep your values and perspective solidly grounded with your friends and family around you.

These different stops around the world seem more like promo concerts either for the album or to promote a product for the company...Mercedes Benz, Hennessey, etc. with entertainment as part of the program. So if you want the best talent in music today to go along with a special product, the best performer is Adam Lambert. Then he can also perform at other venues in that part of the world to promote Trespassing. First class flights, first class hotels, fine good, undoubtedly some big bucks...what's not to like and Adam certainly deserves it. Wasn't it Beyonce recently who flew to Dubai or Brunei(some oil rich country) to perform for one million dollars at a wealthy individual's birthday party? Adam should take advantage of all these opportunities since he doesn't seem to be getting the recognition and acceptance of his music here at home. And what a loss that is for the music world to ignore this talented, articulate, charming, and amazing performer. He seems to be booked into March of 2013, so if there is a Trespassing concert tour here at home, it may not be until next spring or summer. I think we also need to have another single released from the album along with a video. One of those songs just has to click with the listening audience.

@ Adamluv....why Samarkand is in Uzbekistan...surrounded by Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajkistan. Does that help? It's north of Afghanistan and northwest of Pakistan....????? I'm getting dizzy!....JAK
