ADAM Lambert doesn't see himself as a role model.
'The word role model is so tricky to me. I'm a singer, I'm just being myself,' he said.
The American Idol runner-up set tongues wagging after a racy live performance on the American Music Awards (AMA) last year.
In it, he kissed a male keyboardist, grinded a dancer's head against his pelvis, and grabbed the crotch of another.
Speaking to reporters at a roundtable interview at the Ritz-Carlton here yesterday, the 28-year-old said he felt people were being too 'serious' about his performance at the show.
They were also putting too many expectations on him, he added.
'I'm not trying to set an example. I'm not trying to teach anybody anything. I'm just doing my thing,' said the performer.
He said he has tried to rise above the controversy surrounding the performance.
'I think ultimately, out of all of that, talent and intention are important and take precedence over controversy and shock,' he said.
Lambert performed a six-song acoustic set last night at the Pantages Hollywood Theater at Universal Studios Singapore.

that was very honest of adam! yes, he is a singer/performer and he wants to show he is seriously wants to do his job not to set an example although i would love him to do both.
oh by the way, adam's unplugged is number one in VH1 20 countdown, i wonder why WWFM did not come as number two am sure the fans voted for both or maybe vh1 won't allow it.
I still dont understand vh1 filming unplugged and it being so difficult to view in its entirety.Who is it for and is it something we can purchase? I used to see unplugged on tv, but dont know their reason to not allow people to see it. I would love to see the whole uninterupted performance instead of a few disjointed clips.Any info out there? Thanks
The origimal version and the unplugged are still on the countdown! Jim Shere just played the unplug version Adam still came in #1!! and now this week coming up adam could have both on the countdown! SOOO PLEASE PLEASE VOTE!!! And VH1 is gonna air the unplug of Adam (APRIL 9!!!)
