Adam Lambert stays steady on airplay chart -- but adds spins

For the third straight week in a row, Adam Lambert is kicking off the week with "If I Had You" at the #28 spot. According to the newest top 40 airplay numbers courtesy of Mediabase, the "American Idol" singer did manage to add 228 spins this week to finish at close to 2,000 overall in this format alone. (Full numbers across all formats will be announced Monday.)

So if Adam is gaining every week, why is he staying at the same spot? The answer is simple -- competition. When you look at the bottom portion of the top 40 chart right now, 18 out of the bottom 22 songs are all adding spins. Some of them -- such as Ke$ha's new "Take It Off" or Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" -- are gaining airplay so fast it is difficult to see them coming.

However, with the exception of Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are", none of the songs below Adam's seem to be rising fast enough to pass him up in the next week.

Where do you think "If I Had You" will end up?

He's not rising fast enough, radios will stop playing the song really soon if If I Had You doesn't show up in the top 40 billboard charts.

I sincerely hope that the song doesn't flop in the United States but that seems to be the case :-(

Turned on KissFM (Ryan seacrest) this a.m. and they were 2 seconds into IIHY!! I screamed, started dancing around, scared my dogs who were only interested in breakfast and started crying out of happiness since this is the 1st time hearing it on the radio! When over realized it was the TOP 40 songs in the nation and Adam is now #40!!!! Maybe now, stations will now play it? Are you listening Seacrest? Put me in such a good mood for the day! Adamluv

Hey don't call it a flop. It reached the Top 40.....no flops can do that.

Let's do our best to request the song on our local radio and vote for the song on VH1 etc...

I don't get why RCA isn't promoting the song.

It's not doing as well as I had predicted for a summer song but it's steady. That's good too. I just bought the physical single yesterday on Amazon.

Our Aussie friends are awesome!! We need to keep up the pace and keep voting and do some early Christmas shopping!! THANKYOU 24/7 for bringing back our recent posts!!! You are the absolute best!! Love the look of the new format!!! funbunn40

If Adam's fans keep on requesting them at their favorite radio stations then it should climb up! If you request it they will play it... try emailing it to the radio stations, seems to be more effective! That's how I do it... and it works... I hear IIHY on my fav radio stations everyday!!!

Keep requesting "If I Had You." Remember Adam released "Whataya Want From Me" in November and it reached it's peak in April. I think "If I Had You" will reach it's peak in late August. Adam has done really well in the Northeast and Pacific Coast. More requests need to be made in the Midwest, Rockies, and South for "If I Had You."

I don't get it. I have been requesting the song on Ryan's radio show every few days. But he hasn't played the song once. he's such a betrayer! he said he would play Adam's music but he rarely plays them. He only plays those rap, hip hop, beyonce, gaga, etc. so frustrating!!

Let's have a little more patience, people . I believe the song will catch on to many people soon. Or they will misss out on a great summer song. Summer is not over yet.

I was pulling into Winn Dixie night before last and at exactly 9:09pm, I heard IIHY for the first time on our local radio station. I could not believe it as this is the same radion station whose program director told me over the phone that "they would NEVER play any of Adam Lambert's music on the radio". He is an obvious homophobic jerk. I squealed with delight and delayed my shopping til it was over even though I have the CD in it's proper place also. I can never get through on the phone. I don't know why they even have a phone cause they NEVER answer it. I will try the email thing and see what happens. Everyone do whatever is in their means to get this single more airplay. It tickles the hell out of me that this particular program director has had to eat his words. I hope he choked on them. LOL!
