I love it when people with Huge resumes appreciate my baby...This is from an interview with Mark Motherbaugh, lead singger of Devo, they worked on lots of sound tracks and they are really cool. And here is some mention about adam on their interview with Smashing Interviews Magazine...



Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): I believe the study group’s least favorite song was “No Place Like Home.” Do you think that was because fans do not want to hear DEVO perform ballads?



Mark Mothersbaugh: I don’t know. I don’t think we got enough information to know exactly what the reason was or why that one wasn’t a favorite. That could be it. It was the one that was the least typical. As a matter of fact, to be honest, I wrote the music for a film and score last year called Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I thought “No Place Like Home” was going to be the main theme. Then I kept writing more music for that movie.

I came up with something else that we ended up using for the main theme so that kind of fell to the side. I forgot about it until about a month before we were done writing and I put it on a CD for Jerry. He came back the next day with lyrics for it. It seemed so atypical for us that we kind of enjoyed it. So we put it out there to see what people would say.

I would have liked to have taken it further with the focus groups. I mean, I remember talking to Jerry about six months ago, saying, “What if they don’t like any of the vocals and suggest that we should get Adam Lambert to sing for us?” Jerry said, “I don’t know, what do we do?” I said, “I’d be up for it and I would ask him. I’d call him up, tell him we need a good voice, and ask if he wanted to sing on the DEVO record.”

Adam is averaging about 5,000 albums a week in U.S. still chugging along, still "just a few" away from 1,000,000 but I think eventually it will get there. Perhaps when the 2nd album comes out FYE will get a little boost too.

Isn't Gold at 500,000 sales? Nevertheless Adam will reach Platnium soon. He will be very well receive in his world tour and the world sales will soar. He is very popular in Canada, he drew an audience of over 50,000 this week in Quebec. Not too many can say that in this economy. Go Adam! Speaking of lots of love from Canada, check out this very funny audition video of a fan wanting to win a date with Adam Lambert on YouTube. All you Glamberts who think you are the biggest Adam fan will get a kick out of this. I laughed so hard that I watched it over and over.

As for FYE reaching Platinum status ... ADAM still has some more US cities left on his tour INCLUDING Hawaii ... that should help to boost sales closer to 1 million. Anyone who doesn't own this album ... BUY IT!! It's GREAT & you'll definitely get your money's worth 'cuz you'll play it all the time. Buy the UK version too so you'll get the four bonus songs too. Tell all your friends about it. Now if we could only get the DJs to play it more ...

I brought one for my friend a couple of weeks ago, to learn the songs as she is going with me to the concert. Unfortunately it won't help towards the US count, but will the worldwide one.

Thanks for all the links everyone, always appreciate them. Quick story about Adam's "chugging along", have been meaning to post. Have old friend who's sis lives on Cape...went to Hyannis show as more of just a "fun and funny" thing to do... the "funny" thing bothered me of course, she and her gang are kind of an irreverant group I think, so maybe the use of that word wasn't meant to be negative, just "them-ish"...but guess what - she and most of her friends that went left that show LOVING HIM!!!! (no surprise to me of course :)). Hope she bought the album, lol! (although, if she downloaded it on i-tunes, that doesn't count towards physical cd sales for US platinum, does it??). Anyway, was happy to hear that...hoping that sort of thing continues to happen with remaining US concert dates. Have two other "Adam" stories also, will post when appropriate thread pops up :). MGF.

Do you ever notice Adams fans always want more and more for our boy? That's right like the suggestion of 2:34 anon. Great idea!! Just one more each and we could make a differance not only in the numbers but also in the life of the person that recieves the CD. MMMMnnn doesn't that sound fun. Adam congrats on your Gold status. It is harder to reach Gold status in the states. Remember too that this CD has only been out for 10 months now. Not bad numbers. Some that have reached Plat. have been out for two years. It took me a while but I looked up RIAA yesterday as I too thought he got gold some time ago. I am half asleep right now but I believe I read that his album went gold 6/14/10.
It was announced at that time but I notice that old stuff gets posted when there is not much of a news day and/or when someone comes across it at a later date which is fine as sometimes I need catching up, so to speak. Thanks to whomever posted this and Congrats!!! to Adam. I do hope he makes it to 1mil. I wouldn't be surprised at all.

By the by -- he is back up to top 20 position n chart. YaY!!!! I notice he just keeps gaining stations as well. Good news!!! It is strange to watch him slowly rise day to day - Let's hope he keeps rising!

Hi, I am very happy for Adam. He works very hard, I think much more than anybody else. However, this is a bad news. VH1 just put in the list ten new music video. And all of these video already got amazing amounts of views! I don't know how it's possible if they added only two new videos last Saturday, but today I found they added 10 of them and already got so much votes. We have to vote a lot to keep Adam even in top 20! Don't forget today is last day we have chance to vote for Adam for this week top20 results

oohh, that's interesting about VH1 delilah5, thanks for heads up. I would tend to agree, may be challenging to keep IIHY even in the Top20. I know we all say we vote when we can, but we really really have to follow through this week!

I actually wouldn't be surprised if VH1 took IIHY completely out as an option soon (shouldn't speak that out loud maybe :)). I have a liesurely night tonight (yay, and no rushing Fan4fun ;)), I'm going to send in some votes into VH1 for sure!

I definitely am keeping up my polite radio requesting too (because that, to me, is a matter of, how shall I say it, fairness - with all the less than stellar songs that get frequent rotation, IIHY could be/should be getting more spins on one or two of my local stations!! There are some AMAZING singles in Top 40, AC & HAC, don't get me wrong, I'm actually enjoying listening to radio this past week or so, but there are also some very average ones that get tons of spins).

Anyway, hope IIHY can climb a bit more before it starts to slide! Love Lambert's emergence on the music scene, love his style of music, been missing from scene, so glad I'm getting to enjoy it now! MGF.

On Wednesday the town where I live (near Cape Fear, NC) was preparing for hurricane Earl, which was a cat. 4 at the time, - and thank heavens Earl actually missed us! (Hopefully it misses our northern east coast neighbors too). The local grocery store plays music - and when Adam's "If I Had You" and "What Do You Want from Me" played in a 15 min period they actually turned the sound up to drown out the din of extra shoppers. Of course this inspired me to buy extra batteries so I could play Adam's music really loud on an old boom box if I needed to drown out scary noises. (I considered the most important part of my preparation was making sure my Zune was charged and purchasing an extra battery for my laptop so I could keep up with 24/7 Adam Lambert news.

Adam story here - at the dentists yesterday making an appointment and said "nothing around Sept. 21st since going to a concert." Was asked which concert? Adam Lambert. The woman smiled and said is he always so over-the-top as he was on Idol? I nicely said," oh, you aint seen nothing yet!" I guess lots of ppl. dont get out much if they think Idol Adam was over-the-top.! Best part was, my dentist overheard the conversation and said my 14 and 17 year old daughters love him and saw him in concert this summer.I squeeled with happinness and said how much I enjoy hearing when young ppl. get him and he said according to my kids, a lot of teenagers love Adam. This kind of story makes my day. Yes, you're right, simple pleasures are often the best! Adamluv

Couple of Questions. Is the 1 million mark platinum? Why do they separate albums sold in U.S. from other countries? Also, it must really hurt recording artists to have their music downloaded instead of buying album. Vh1 appears to be changing the game lately. Artists are coming and going at warped speed. Unless, you are one of their featured artists and then you can stay around a very long time. Actually, they gave Adam a really long play time not so long ago.

They separate album sales from the US and other countries because a platinum is 1,000,000 copies in the US. Whereas in other countires, it can range from 10,000 copies to 300,000 copies. Also, the US is the best selling music country....(also the worst taste in music).

You see, America sometimes is quite slow... for me, sweet Adam was Gold 3 months ago, got over Platinum and is already DIAMOND, my Diamond Boy!!! Do you think I'm rushing @ MGF????
