Adam sold around 9,000 copies of his debut album this week. The total sales is around 587,000. Still a long way to a million copies but with the American Idol appearance coming up, sales will definitely pick up. In addition, the third single hasn't even been released yet, not to mention the tour hasn't even started yet so things will be starting to look brighter very soon!

Adam Lambert continues to have the top-selling track with Whataya Want From Me, and it sees a small week-over-week increase (as do most of the Idol tracks on both Nielsen SoundScan's Top Digital Tracks and Top Country Digital Tracks charts). Adam's at nearly 812,000 downloads now, plus he has a two-night stint on American Idol coming up next week. It's not out of the question that the subsequent sales boost could push him easily past a million downloads within three weeks.

Kris Allen, Live Like We're Dying (47,000, +5 percent, 1.248 million)

Adam Lambert will be mentoring the Top 8 on the 13th next week. In addition, he will be performing on the 14th. To celebrate Adam's return to the American Idol stage, let's take a look at his first performance on American Idol in which he performed Black and White by Michael Jackson. Technically, this was his official first performance on the main American Idol stage. (Satisfaction was for the Hollywood week.)

"Don't worry America: I will be beyond family friendly. Relax and enjoy. For Your Entertainment."

Do you guys have any suggestion as to what song Adam should perform? Since Whataya Want From Me is still the single being promoted, maybe he'll sing the acoustic version? Or will he introduce If I Have You to America?

ADAM LAMBERT: MY GLAM TOUR

By Adam Lambert, guest editor

I’M touring this summer and hopefully will be able to visit Britain as well.

It’s not going to be a fully-fledged arena tour because I don’t have a massive budget, but I’m going to give it as much production value as I can.

Intimate but flash shows are the plan, so it will look sparkly and glam and maybe there’ll be a bit of flesh too.

Justin Hawkins from The Darkness wrote a song on my album, as did Pink, Linda Perry, Sam Sparro, Ryan Tedder and Max Martin, plus I got to write five songs myself.

Now it’s about figuring out the story and how to string it all together.

CHRISTINA Aguilera’s comeback is very exciting for me as I’m a huge fan. You can’t match Christina’s voice – she has got pipes. Last year a lot of pop girls were doing the circus theme on tour and while they all did it very well I couldn’t understand why they did the same thing.

It was interesting as it was kind of a statement of society and calling the whole entertainment game a circus, so maybe it was meant metaphorically.

ADAM LAMBERT: LADY GAGA IS A GENIUS

AFTER coming runner-up on American Idol last year I am finally releasing my debut album For Your Entertainment in the UK and it’s a blast – I get to play dress-up for a living.

All artists are a little bit crazy – I’m a little bit crazy for sure as that’s what makes us good at what we do.

And it makes us a hell of a lot more interesting.

I think to really be liberated onstage as a performer you really have to suspend disbelief and live a little bit in a fantasy world or else it doesn’t quite work.

When I’m onstage I’m not thinking about the outside world; I’m in my own little special dimension.

Lady GaGa is a perfect example of that, and she’s a genius.

If you are making music that everybody likes then it’s probably not going to be that great – it’ll be more middle of the road and bland.

When it comes to style I have a strong point of view and hopefully that attracts certain fans and makes an impact.
Visuals are so important.

If you look at GaGa’s music, sonically it’s straight ahead really, really good pop music with a dance beat and great production.

The songs are have great hooks and beats to dance to, and her lyrics get you thinking.

As she’s written a lot of these songs it gives her the credibility that you need as a popstar these days, but it’s her visual that makes her stand out.

That’s something that a lot of people don’t realise.

People think this life is glamerous, and it is at times, but it’s a lot of work with little sleep.

Luckily I love meeting people and seeing new places.

GaGa wrote a track on my album called Fever and I love, love, love it as it’s one of the most fun tracks to perform live.

If we release it as a single it would be great to get her in the video with me.

We’d make our own new dance moves too.

I love the video for Telephone, it’s so psychotic - it’s got that Tarantino thing going on; female empowerment, and that Thelma and Louise energy.

Adam Lambert exclusive: Confirmed as 'American Idol' mentor next week! What do you think?
by Michael Slezak

Adam Lambert will serve as guest mentor on the April 13 episode of American Idol, a spokesperson for 19 Entertainment confirms exclusively to EW. Internet buzz began swirling this afternoon that Sony Music reps had contacted selected radio stations with the announcement that last year’s runner-up would advise season 9’s Top 8 contestants, and then perform his current single “Whattaya Want From Me” on the April 14 results-show telecast. There’s no official word yet on what theme the contestants will tackle during Lambert’s visit.

Lambert as mentor should provide a glittery adrenaline shot to an Idol season that’s struggled to find its water-cooler mojo. Adam, perhaps more than any former contestant, should be able to help Idol’s low-key crop of current contenders add some much-needed drama to their performances. Plus, what better way to promote Adam’s single (currently lodged at No. 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100) and planned summer tour?

Of course, there will be some Idol fans who argue Adam is too inexperienced to don a mentor cap, seeing how only a year ago he ended every one of his performances with a critique from Paula Abdul. Point taken, but what Adam lacks in music-biz wisdom, he makes up for with his knowledge of the singularly grueling Idol experience. Just yesterday, while interviewing season 9’s latest ousted contestant Didi Benami, talk turned to her struggles with last week’s R&B theme, and she didn’t seem to completely understand where I was coming from when I asked her if she’d studied previous Idol successes like Adam, Kris Allen, and David Cook — and the way they managed to sculpt a wide variety of genres to fit their artistic styles, and not the other way around. Surviving and thriving in the genre-a-week Idol rollercoaster is something that a Mick Jagger or a Dolly Parton or even a Beyoncé or a Kanye has never had to do. If Adam can help season 9’s Top 8 to better understand the mechanics of the show — and it results in improved performances — I don’t see how anyone loses.

After the jump, sound off in our PopWatch poll and tell us what you think of Adam Lambert as Idol mentor. (And for all my Idol news and commentary, follow me on Twitter @EWMichaelSlezak.)

Adam Lambert to mentor American Idol next week?

Not sure if this is TRUE but apparently this is an email exchange between two SONY employees and one leaked the news that Adam is mentoring for American Idol next week? But be skeptical though because this may not be true. If it is true, then this will be fun!
