Have to comment. His voice sounded terrible and off key in rehearsal and in actual performance. That is almost an impossible song to sing live especially with all that dance.

How much he has matured over the past almost two years!!! He is better, his voice is better. This was almost painful to watch again.

Editer should now show some of performances from the Glamnation DVD just in case not everyone has that amazing video. If you dont, and you're an Adam fan, why don't you have it. It's everywhere and will give you great entertaiment on some of these hot afternoons. Promise to make you even hotter.

The best singing part of the rehearsal is the beginning and the ending lines. I don't think FYE is written for Adam to sing at all. Well, without its controversial, I never discover him on the internet. He look amazingly sexy with just T-shirt and jean up there. Love him so much, can't wait for his new CD and tour!

Why bring this up again now?I agree,I'd love to see the FYE performance from the Glamnation DVD here. How about it??Please do,Adam 24/7.That would be great.

Personally, I wish everyone - inc. this site - would just let this be history. He's still trying to live that down and I don't think anyone, esp. Adam, needs to be reminded of this. He learned a lot from that performance but also suffered a lot for it. He has grown so much since then and I would wish that we all concentrate on that and the anticipation of his next amazing album. If you're on 24/7 then you're a fan of Adam and should at least accept this performance. I applaud 24/7 for posting this.

If you're against this performance, you're just like ABC, denying Adam's artistic skills. I personally LOVE this performance.

i became a fan because the AMA thing, i think : "did he really do this on my tv?", and laugh a lot!!! i love adam
this performance is part of adam history =)

Theatrics!!! I thought Adam was in total character, a master of sexual pain & pleasure! he was excited! Yea , Adam admitted it wasn't his best vocal but we've heard him take on the character from "Hair".
Well, I just wanted to express that I'm in all favor of Adam's theatrics!! I love it!
I hope his next album will have some theatrics!! Mwah!! K

This is already everywhere on Twitter, no use in complaining about it on 24/7. People on twitter are loving this btw.

I really enjoyed this rehearsal.

I still have this saved on my DVR (taking up 3 hours of space). This is when I went from being a fan to a Glambert. I loved it! Sure, not his best vocal but what an entertaining performance. I watched the entire AMAs that year, and thought a lot of other things were worse for kids (Eminem, for example). And it was never for kids anyway. Bold! Fun! Sexy! Original! Go, Adam! I think being "controversial" helped him, especially overseas. VestaRose

Watched this earlier on MJ's blog. Hard to sing song, especially with the romp all over the stage. No wonder he tripped and rolled, or as I like to say rock and rolled. I loved him on Idol, adored him after the AMA's and took up his banner when he got so much flack. I haven't looked back, nor will I ever.

Adam is a trailblazer. Just like Elvis who also suffered in the beginning. Someday people will look back at this performance and say "that's the night another glass ceiling was broken".

I find this really strange that after Adam is voted Best Role Model and seen with that cherub of Monte's,we need to revisit this performance that caused a major loss of fans and money for the business heads... and Adam! ...and that is why you never heard this song on the radio in SF or LA, why it disappeared from VH1 overnight, and why it was not performed as part of the Glamnation tour in America...only played as the opening music.
I don't really want to go there again. Move on.

Anonymous said...

I also think it is a very difficult song to sing and especially live.

Movin on...

Gotta agree that song seems extremely difficult to sing (for anyone) but I actually thought his vocals were a little better during the performance than the rehearsal! Both off key but Adam, when interviewed, stated there was trouble with the sound. When you realize how difficult it was for him to maneuver all over that stage with so many steps, levels, dancers and choreography, plus sing, OMG! Give him credit...that was a super hard performance to pull off and he was so excited and got a little "spontaneous". Shocking though it may have been, I still loved it, recorded it, and will save it forever 'cause it's history in the making!

Off Topic:
I actually also posted the link for the "Los Angeles Equality Awards" on the Flecking Records Role Model Awards Thread, just previous to this one at around the same time..with the full link and the text that specifically pertains to Adam. Sometimes people can't open links so I posted part of the article as well. Adam is soooo deserving of that award.

Yes 12:34, please let's move on. I am such an extreme Adam fan that this brought back painful memories.

While I may like a performance, I know the attitude of many in this conservative red neck country, and I was scared for his career. Actually, I thought his vocals sucked on AMA. As another famous performer said, he should have just gotten out there and sang that gorgeous tukus off without all the theatrical dance crap. He would now be ruling and not struggling for acceptance as he still is doing in many parts of this country.

While we fans appreciate what he has done and who he as a person and performer, he is not where he should be with his talent. He erased his progression by using bad judgment and is still paying the price.

I appreciate that many of you loved this performance, and this is what caught your eye initially making you a fan. Unfortunately, there are many others who still hate what Adam represents and will not consider opening their eyes. Ignorant Americans. No offense intended.

donnaw said...

Definitely NOT his best vocal. He was sexy then and is sexy now....still love him!

Anonymous said...

@CT Well said! Not many people who can sang, let alone with "all that goin' on"!

That is what will put Adam ahead of the rest, given time, it's the theatrics he puts into his performances. I readily admit that I don't go to many concerts these days, but I sure did BK (before kids!)and there was nothing out there that compares to what I saw from Adam last summer.

That was one unforgettable, entertaining GNT!!

This "leaked" video, while all over twitter, is a little difficult to watch, but part of Adam's history, love it or hate it..

On the plus side, he does look gorgeous at the rehearsal and it's interesting to see the rehearsal as he originally intended to perform the show versus how he did it at the actual telecast. As he has said, he got excited, wanted to impress, had a lot of already famous acts to follow, such as Lady Gaga, adrenaline took over and he added a few things, including The Legendary Kiss, which I actually really loved, truth be told...If nothing else, he definitely made an impression! His "ninja roll" accidental fall, which he handled well, and which could have been disastrous if he had fallen off the scaffolding, I'm sure added to his very big case of nervous energy, and he just needed to "kiss someone" his words to Oprah.

I recall that his Dad said it was the worst performance he had ever seen Adam deliver vocally, presumably because of those nerves. I have to say: I was terrified for Adam in the days and weeks afterward, because of the negativity it created. Being a realist, I knew it would cause him some big problems for awhile. And it is perhaps one of the reasons why I have become such a staunch supporter and fan of Adam. We as fans needed to help him keep his dream alive until things settled down and America and the world gets the next opportunity to fall in love with him once again. However, it speaks to his vast talent and his positive attitude that he is still in the game and is doing so well, in spite of this bump in the road. I know many people became fans right after the AMA's but sadly, he also lost some as a result. They stopped following his career, which is very sad and their loss. I have a friend who recently spent some time riding in the car with me, just the two of us, and the subject turned to Idol and then to Adam. She said she was a big fan until the AMA's..and then stopped. I explained to her the circumstances leading up to this performance, and specifically the accusation from the editor of OUT magazine that Adam was basically selling out and not being gay enough, not "representing" the Gay Community...etc.. Adam has said he was stung by that editorial, which came out just days before this performance. Adam is human and at that time was just getting used to his fame. My friend said she was very sad and angry to hear about what the editor said and said that put a different spin on it for her. She said she could see how that could have had an effect on this performance, and had a better understanding of the situation.

I also understand his reluctance to outright apologize for his choices in his performance, although he did also say he realized it was probably too much, too soon.. It also upset him a great deal for awhile. There was more to it of course and I won't prolong this. Water under the bridge for sure. He will always be famous (infamous..) for this performance and in some ways he has probably paved the way just a little for "gay" to be more often portrayed in television, with less negative reaction as a result. In fact, that is strikingly confirmed in the Los Angeles Equality Awards spoken about above at 12:11 PM and my post at 12:48 PM.

He will be fine...

Want to say so much about people who see AMA performance as a bad thing, won't... but will just add that the only GOOD vocal that ENTIRE night/show was Kelly Clarkson, and maybe a little bit Janet Jackson! Sound or actual vocals were off for most that night! Loved that performance then, love it now. Those who fell away because of it, would have fallen away anyway, eventually or quickly.

Imagine what his life would be like had he stuck to that performance. No OTT sexuality, etc. Personally I enjoyed his actual performance, but interesting to wonder what if?????

To those who don't realize or have forgotten and think Adam didn't sing For Your Entertainment in his GNT performances: after performing it on his overseas tour, he did perform it here in the US for his last four GNT American performances.

Suz526 Opening Medley: FYE second song..Adam performing FYE in Honolulu on Oct. 25, 2010 He also performed i there the next night on the 26th..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLf-eTDmwCg

Sus526 Opening Medley: LA at the Club Nokia Dec. 16, 2010 He also sang it a the Music Box LA the previous night..Suz had her fabulous new camera for this one..the sound is better the the above one as well.

I was fortunate to be at all of these performances and was so excited when he finally included FYE in his final American performances. The audiences were thrilled to hear it.

I was disappointed in Adam's vocals. I didn't like the performance, but then what else can be expected ---- those of us that listened to the words long before the performance should have expected what we got. The words don't say he would put his hand on your cheek and kiss the end of your nose.

I read all the comments carefully, and I find it very interesting that some of the people here find the memory of the AMA bothering, and wish to forget about it and move on. I never realized it's such a sensitive subject.
From my point of view, if someone stopped being an Adam fan because he kissed a guy, but they wouldn't have minded it if he kissed a girl, then they shouldn't be his fans.
I believe what Carmit said in THS is true, that everything that's happened with Adam in way of controversy, ultimately worked out to his advantage. Me personally, as much as I loved Adam on AI, it never accured to me that there's life after Idol, and I never heard anyting about Adam, until a friend from work told me over lunch what he did in the AMA. I was sooo happy and proud of him when I heard it! I was thrilled that someone finally did that on prime time American TV, and turned the spotlight on all the hypocrisy. After that I started following him on the net, and gradually became a die-hard fan.
And as for the vocals - even Adam's worst performance vocally is still better than 90% of the other pop singers' best. IMO.

As much as I love the sexiness of that song, I have always had trouble with the key that it was sung in. It always seemed too high in the high parts and too low in the low parts. On the CD, of course, Adam hits it perfectly, and also hit it well on tour. But in this performance, nerves or not, it was off pitch and strained. Adam admits this readily. I just hope a newbie doesn't judge Adam by this vocal performance. The sexual antics were just well-intentioned but unfortunate show biz. Never bothered or shocked me. But, of course, it's music history now!
Now, on with the next great album, Adam!

the perfprmance was true to the song, but Adam really off key in rehearsal too. Something had to be up with the sound coming in,because he has one of the best voices I've ever heard. I've seen him sing this on European promo tour and he was great!

glitzylady said...

@Cassie
The part that bothered me was the way Adam was treated by the media and by some in America afterwards, and as a result seeing the actual performance brings reminds me of those feelings of concern for him and his career. I am not concerned now, but I was immediately after that for awhile. Adam had worries and concerns as well. I live in America and know how many Americans felt about that. My family and I are open-minded, support human rights, ,marriage equality, etc.., (always have...) and adore Adam, and thought it was a big deal over nothing, but we knew it wasn't going to be well received by some, and even those who didn't see it made up their minds about Adam through listening to the hype by the media. And then dismissed him, most likely without even listening to his voice, then or afterwards. It also came at the time of release of his album. I think it also gave the media, in some cases and in their narrow and sensationalism-loving minds, implied permission to be disrespectful of and to him. And he was rather ignored as well at times. So on the one hand, it was very brave of him to be a little over the top in the song performance, earned him some new fans, but on the other hand it polarized people, and slowed him down somewhat temporarily, at least in the US. Right or wrong, it is what it is.

For what its worth, I love it when Adam sings this song live. He does it so well in the concert setting and it really IS his signature song, at least for now....He DOES entertain us....A LOT! I've found myself "screaming his name" at every concert I've been to...Prophetic..and so "Adam". And on the plus side, it put him on the radar of the world, perhaps a lot faster than if he had totally stuck to his rehearsed plan...THE KISS is really what almost everyone remembers..and that sort of thing is becoming less and less shocking in the mainstream...He just made people look! And kissing is really a very nice thing when you think about it.

So the cat was already in his throat during rehearsals...Interesting.

I dont care that 24/7 posted it as I rarely care about what this site posts, but personally I cringe every time I see footage, pictures, or even think about this performance. It was a nightmare from beginning to end.

Because of this performance, Adam became the World Wide Star indeed....... He took chances and it paid off people!!!!!! He admitted and not shy to say that he didn't like the sound of his voice when he performed that night...... He is a true genius and accepted all the criticism he received but he wasn't sorry for what he did. Now,people are more interested to see what Adam will do next!!!! Yes! Yes! He rocked Russia then he'll come back here in Canada!!!! Wow!!! I just can't wait baby!!!!!

So interesting that this has been "leaked" now when he is receiving Best Role Model for Young People Award and being honored by the LA Equality Awards. Seems intentional, timing wise, to detract from these honors.

Do we really have to beat this dead horse???? Shall we just skip this thread and move forward? :)

Oh, and racing through the Minneapolis airport today to catch a connecting flight I was stopped dead in my tracks by WWFM blasting on the speakers at Brookstone. Needless to say, WWFM took priority. I stopped and pretended to shop while listening and then raced on to catch my next flight. Literally stopped dead in my tracks. What Adam does to me. LOL

I love Adam and I have since his AI audition. I am also one of those fans who finds the actual AMA performance hard to watch. It bothers me because it always brings back the feeling of dread I experienced that night as I watched it live. I was ecstatic about his AMA performance because of the exposure he would get on the eve of his CD release. I was sooo excited about the millions of potential new fans who would get to hear Adam's incredible voice. I recall getting very tense when I realized his vocals were off and then literally sitting on edge of my seat, my hands over my mouth, saying "OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!" over and over as the performance progressed from one potential disaster to another. I almost had a heart attack when he fell. By the time it was over, I was actually in tears, not because the performance offended me in any way, but because I knew that there would be severe repercussions for Adam. Immediately following the AMA's I was very, very concerned for him and his career. So much so that I became obsessed with supporting him and his music in every possible way. I still do, but now I'm not stressed out about it because it's obvious that Adam has not only survived and thrived following the storm over this performance, but actually earned a lot of respect because of how well he handled the furor. Even though the controversial aspects have even earned Adam a place in music history, I still can't get over the overwhelming emotions of that night and I don't enjoy being reminded. Maybe someday.

BTW this is the best version of FYE that I've heard him sing. It was an IHeartRadio video that was not released with the others because of the AMA controversy (I think)

This whole thing is painful to watch, but it is what it is. Can't change anything. I'll never forget how disappointing that was, but it didn't change my mind about Adam. Loved him then; love him now.

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:30. Me too. I was almost sick with anticipation and how Adam was going to blow everyone away - how he'd shoot to instant fame - how the entire world would fall in love with him. But I was also scared to death because I knew he had the potential to go either way. Superstar or trainwreck. We got a trainwreck. I was stunned, crying, and screaming 'what are you doing????' It didn't change MY mind about anything Adam, but I knew it would seriously damage his career. It did, and I'm convinced a lesser man wouldn't have survived. But Adam did and is now (after an extremely tough upward struggle) flourishing. I love him to death and am still able to lose sleep worrying about him and his success!

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:30 by that time I didn´t live in USA and remember waking up next morning, turning my computer on and googling AMA performance. I was so confused when I watched it and felt so bad about the comments. I started posting on every blog I found about Adam supporting him. I think we all became overprotecting somehow. After two years he has demonstrated that he is sooooo much more than the AMA performance; however, now I appreciate even more what he did that night. It was the beginning of something big we could not see at the moment. We do now.

Anonymous said...

Yes, 5:50 and 5:54! I still go through the same emotions you described about that night. I also still lose sleep wondering about Adam's success in the future. The music industry does NOT always reward talent. We all know that. Lesser talents or real "no-talents" often achieve great success. I remember in an interview, Adam was asked how he would have changed that performance. He simply said, "I would have sung the song better." Another article from later in the year addressed Adam's professionalism and determination. To paraphrase, in part, it said, "What did Adam do after the AMA debacle? He picked himself up and dusted himself off and went off to HEADLINE his own first ever national and international tour. He didn't sit around feeling sorry for himself." Does anyone else remember that article? Can't remember who wrote it. Adam will perform at some level for his entire life. The cream will rise to the top. I just know it.

Maybe he should have just done a lip-synch like the others do so he could just concentrate on all the complicated steps and movements of the performance. Also I thought, there was enough raunch just in the rehearsed parts to get some bad feedback and the producers didn't seem to care about that!
Oh well, it's all water under the bridge now..

Anonymous said...

I HATED this performance!!! I HATE that song and all of the ones like it. THIS IS SO NOT THE WAY TO GO FOR ADAM!! He will NEVER get back the momentum he had going into that night -NEVER. Too many other vocal/singing shows w/ overnight "sensations". He had so much more than that and I will never get over how much he fucked up everything during that time!!!!! He SHOULD HAVE stood in the middle of the stage and belted out "Can't Let You Go". Makes me SOOOO mad when the right thing DOES NOT HAPPEN, and then he/his team wonder why???? Someone needs to reign him in sometimes!!

WHY IS IT THAT EVERY TIME ADAM LAMBERT IS WINNING AN AWARD OR NOMINATED FOR ONE OR HONORED, SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE BRINGS OUT THE FYE TAPE??

glitzylady said...

@Anon 6:58 PM
This performance was going on two years ago. He has obviously become a more seasoned performer and has a better idea of what works. Many things happened that night in November 2009, that affected his performance. What any of us wish he might have done differently, or not, doesn't matter now. Adam is an amazing performer because he is not afraid to take some risks. Some things work out, and some don't. Even on Idol, he took some risks and by and large they worked out pretty well. He took the judges critiques to heart and thought about what he would do next time around.

One of the things he said in his "Idol Confessionals" from two years ago, during his time on Idol, was that when he sang "Ring of Fire" he did it his way, made it "his own" , which is what the contestants are encouraged to do, but then Simon said it was "indulgent rubbish", which I think rather hurt Adam just a bit, and he said he was just doing what they encouraged them to do and what he has done all along. That performance was one that stunned and amazed us: others hated it. It perhaps arguably the performance that separated him from the rest of the Idols and put him on a whole other level in many people's eyes. It was risky, but it worked. Unless you were Randy Travis...

I suspect many of us here, and many in America in general, weren't quite ready for Adam's version of FYE on the night of the AMA's, I know I wasn't, mainly because I knew he was in some trouble on more than one level, and it scared the s**t out of me. Like others, I could barely sleep that night, and worried for days about the outcome of all that happened...I was a little upset with him for scaring the s**t out of me, but was mostly afraid for him. I also didn't let it stop me from being a huge fan and supporting him, and among other things, going to 9 concerts over the last year and a half. I never abandoned him as a fan.I don't believe we were over-protective as someone above phrased it, just very supportive and loyal.

What happened, happened, and what each of us think he should have done, or not, is moot. He was excited, nervous, ecstatically happy to be there, and wanted to give a great show. It just didn't work out quite the way he had planned in certain ways. He's doing well now, had a great world tour, the first one ever by an Idol only one year after his time on Idol, had a Grammy nomination, has his new album coming out soon (YAY!!!), he's happy and I would imagine extremely pleased with the way his life is going right now, and he has so many things to be thankful for. I think we do too. As others have said, time to move onto the next level with Adam and his new music. I can't imagine Adam ever staying inside the lines.....unless its his idea. It's what makes him special.

What is going on? Who is troll of the house? WHo pulled out this rehearsal and the"Adam Lambert shocking AMA performance" from the garbage can and put it on twitter and on every web in the internet? I suprised, PH didn't make any comments yet!
Okay, sorry for my spelling. Hope you find the translater!
After all. Adam was very good! I am sure it was very bad voice recording. Adam always perfect on the stage. I think everybody who attended GNT just once, could hear the difference between Adam live voice and voice we coud hear on AI or any music video!
And all performance was pre-set including "oral sex"! After Lady GaGa performances nobody can bring anything special on the stage> But Adam felt down:) and kissed Tommy! After this American Conservative TV channels and American "Conservative" Music History canceld all Adam performances on big shows and events for long time!
We know, this part of Adam performance never will forgotten or forgiven:(
It is chinese proverb, it you continue to remember your past, you don't have a future.
Again, it was very stupid idea to put this rehearsal on twitter and internet!

I love FYE studio track on the album. But IMO for live performance you can't just sing it straight. You have to add auto-tune or what ever technical sound requirements are available to make it as close as possible to sound just like the studio track. Like it or not that's what most current music sounds are done. Young kids only care about songs with good beats or hooks. That's why most young kids love Fever cause it has hooks.

Anonymous said...

If the sound system had something to do with Adam's key/pitch problem, then we may need to take that into serious consideration. I have done small presentations, danced and even sang a little on stage in auditoriums. If the feed from the sound system does not reach your ear/earpiece you actually cannot gauge clearly what your voice sounds like; that could have been partly the off-key, off-pitch problem of his AMA performance. We all know key/pitch are some of Adam's strongest standout traits in his singing. Till today the FYE song is my favourite on the FYE album. Also minus the key/pitch setback, his AMA performance is spectacular!

Oh dear, I was looking forward to watching the rehearsal and it started brilliantly – a fabulous introduction – and then it deteriorated from there. I thought maybe Adam’s voice wasn’t good on the AMAs but it would be per its wonderful self at the rehearsal but sadly no.

However, Adam sang FYE at the GNT concerts I attended and his voice was perfecto. Adam is adored internationally and his FYE single has been a HIT along with fantastic sales of WWFM and IIHY in my country.

I wonder too why this rehearsal clip and the FYE clip have been added to this site on this day when it’s been announced that Adam is one of two recipients of the LA Equity Award .... also that he was voted the Best Role Model this week. Hopefully, it’s merely a coincidence.

@Fan4fun
Oh my goodness, Fan4fun, my Jesus AMA friend !!
You know, after I read about your plight, I felt kind of lost, because I thought this is somebody I can help; but I just don't know how to go about it. But I really like this new title...Jesus AMA friend! Hey, you are really good at stringing words together, like your Sexotic Singing Bird. I see Icon is well-behaved today; he scratched me a little at the last visit when I helped you pull...pull what? lol, but it's alright to be scratched by a hero GlamberCAt.
I don't quite get the Spanish/Portuguese bit.

Icon refuses to come out his bed today. He's eating his meals there. He said he'll come out only directly to a plane to go to LA-Hollywood. He doesn't want to live in these islands any more. Don't worry... tomorrow he'll be thinking different. As soon as his tail stops hurting (he said you pulled him too hard yesterday) he'll be again jumping and running all around.
BTW Lam my, we were both pulling ICON from the picture... he was hanging from sweet Adam clothes waiting to go with him to LA, didn't you get it?
To live Icon's stories we must spend a lot of imagination! And get tired... NOT!

Here in OZ we were loving the AMA's performance.
Amazing spellbinding moments of brilliance from the Glambert himself! Loved it! I am grateful we live in a country that has shed it's blinders
and can see entertainment in all it's Adam glory! And no, we are not some hickville people the other side of the world, we are avid fans of Adams who have travelled thousands of miles many times to hear the breathtaking genius of this man because he is a Superstar that will become a legend!

Awesome. Adam at his finest. You are witnessing a real masterpiece of art. So sad Adam doesnt fufill the role of 'Mad World' appeal for everyone in the US. Love and respect this man oodles.

Can you tell me what Adam Lambert was supposed to be 'forgiven' for on the AMAs? What a lot of old rot. The man was really something.

Okay, I get it now...still laughing about pulling Icon's tail too hard. Soooo sorry Icon, stroke him nicely for me. Lol.

I LOVED Adam's AMA performance. It was and still is THRILLING--one of the most thrilling things I have ever seen on TV in my life. It also showed me very clearly how far right of center the USA has become over the past 20 years. In the 70's Adam's AMA performance (ala Cabaret, winner of 8 Academy Awards) would not have been such a big deal. I'm selfishly grateful to Adam for breaking that d... chokehold the conservatives have imposed on the media--if only for 5 minutes! Fresh air rushed in & it was exhilarating!

Adam was unapologetically and fiercely HIMSELF. By being all that he is in this performance you are looking at an American Civil Rights hero befitting the 21st Century. When you take a stance & break down barriers like he did on that night, expect a sonic boom (or was that Adam's powerful voice :).

I do believe that Adam's own civil rights have been violated repeatedly by the media ever since. (And ABC is utterly despicable for exploiting Adam for ratings--which he certainly did bring in--then throwing him under the bus!) Rather than Adam cowering down to be less than he is; people should pressure major corporate media owners (primarily heterosexual males) to grow up & get with it. The complaints issued to the FCC were bogus & orchestrated by 2 digusting anti-gay groups. RCA should have DEMANDED that Fever be aired on the radio. To refuse to air Fever because it has a gay-appropriate pronoun would appear to me to be a direct violation of the US Constitution. The media are also violating MY rights by censoring what I get to see on TV or hear on the radio. You do realize our TV & radio airways are publicly owned.

Adam, what a brave and sturdy human being you are! You are a genuine hero & role model to me. This is one of the reasons I love you so much. The real critical issue is that you have given every one of us a voice that it is OK--we have a right--to be who we are and all we can be--in a very positive way. The world is a smaller and better place because of you.

On an entirely different note: Who is the female dancer that is in position to keep Adam from rolling off that stage (which could have been a terrible disaster as high up as he was)? He said he couldn't tell where he was at the time. Is it Brooke? He also looks into her face. She may have helped sturdy him. Remarkably he did not miss one beat or any of the words. Indeed, the words as he got up fit perfectly to let all know he was OK (like Neil commented). Amazing. Adam is even perfect when he's imperfect :). Being an Adam fan is not for the faint of heart.

My 1st thought when he fell (& others had fallen that night in their performances) was did the sprinkler system go off causing him to slip on a wet step? Afterall, Gaga had gone before him, setting her piano on fire.

I predict Adam's AMA performance will become legendary (if it isn't already), just like initially controversial TV performances by other naughty boys like Elvis, The Rolling Stones, & the Beatles.

5:30 You expressed my feeling exactly.

And CASSIE, those of us that would like this video to go away are not homophopic and did not have any problems with that kiss. I actually thought TJR was a gal at the time, but it didn't matter. Vocals were off, Adam FELL hard, and it was after that FALL that he really got off track. It is painful to watch, and I don't give a flip if it is Adam history.

Lets move on. This wasn't naughty. This was bad singing!! Why do we need to remember that.

Yes, and if Adam were now a super star, I guess it would be OK to show this old clip. But he isn't, and he's not even close. Most peeps don't have a clue about who he is. We Adam fans live in this tiny Adam world, and we think he's made it. He hasn't, not by a long shot.

It's all going to be determined by this next album. Judging from past efforts of fans, they like to talk but are unwilling to put their money where their mouth is by buying/downloading Adam's music/DVD. Clearly not talking about everyone, but amazing how many "fans" never purchased FYE but just listen to free online versions. Not right.

Can't help but wonder what might have been if he had stuck to what he did in rehearsal. Multi-platinum album? We'll never know.

I never miss reading this site. EVER! And this is the first time I've seen the full performance. Love the comment above mine at 12:57...we can only imagine. I genuinely believe he could have been the next insanely popular super star had this performance not occurred. If Adam had not put the sexual connotation with the words to that song, I'd have thought he meant that he was here for my entertainment...VOCALLY...even if it got rough.
Still think he's great and I'm a Glambert.

Thanks, 12:53, for a much-needed dose of reality. We die-hard fans live in a bubble of love for Adam. We think about him all the time. Millions of other music fans do not. I've been a broken record here before about turning our love into SUCCESS for Adam by BUYING our butts off. Realistically, it's the only way. Just sitting around sharing our love for him is worthless without the sales. I'd love to think he'll be able to promote his new cd on all the "big" shows and be seen doing SNL and all that great stuff, but it remains to be seen. There's no guarantee he'll be on all those high-profile shows, unless his management makes it happen. Face it, we've never let him out of our sight for a second, but plenty of people who "loved" him on AI have moved on long ago. His US and international fanbases must step up and make this new CD a hit. I'll do my part as best I can, but it's a full-blown Glambert effort. We keep assuming there will be a tour next year, too. Well, that depends on sales also. I'm ready with my tour money put aside. Let's hope for the best. It will take ALL of us.

I have fought for Adam's AMA performance for the past 2 years whenever or wherever it surfaced on different sites; but always fighting alone and it made me feel like...am I too worked up over this but what I wrote was exactly how I felt; that Adam was being trampled on. But here now, first time, I feel wow, so good, so many are saying what I have been voicing about Adam's AMA performance. At one particular site, I was really furious but polite. Somehow my last sentence always went like this...his AMA performance is spectacular! Today it finally sticks! :)

Love the AMA live performance. This rehearsal performance is sexy as hell, love it also. There was context to the AMA performance, there always was...one just had to "get it"... 1930's underground industrial Berlin blah blah blah... rather brilliant actually. Vocal wasn't so bad either btw, opening was stunning! If I was really being honest, I'd admit that I wish he didn't give the finger...otherwise, thought the performance worked well.

What always frustrates me about the AMA incident is that so many other performers have done much more "awful" things: beating up spouses and girlfriends, etc., being drug abusers, trashing others, and being general jerks a lot of the time. HOWEVER, they don't seem to suffer much consequence professionally for it. In fact, most of them continue to perform, record, act, and go on talk shows to talk about what jerks they are. Their careers don't seem to suffer. I'll bet that for some of the, doing an "AMA type" of thing would have become a badge of honor. I guess Adam's "sin" surpassed all others. He's still paying for it but is trying to work his way up. I think he'll make it. I remain an optomist.

I think without the kiss Adam wouldn't have been as well-known and sold as many copies of FYE. Adam was the most searched and talked about performer on that awards show. The vocals were bad, I agree. Adam said the Nokia Theatre is like singing in a tin box. Adam has greatly improved since.

@anon 8:22 PM Do you know how many camera men with voice recorder (I mean for live show) this kind of events needs? How about between 20 and 30 cameramen!I don't there were more that 5 or 6 camera men on rehearsal. Don't know about AMA even't.
Find me any person who attented AMA on this evening and ask this person about Adam vocals!
After this you can judge Adam vocals on this event!
However, nobody care about his vocals! Adam practically lost the most important appearances after AMA because of this stupid kiss:(

Sorry, I meant that it looks and sounds that only 5 or 6 cameramen were invited on rehearsal. Because the angles and voice recording are very poor and deff needed a lot of adjustments.

Hey Icon, is the tail still hurting...soooo sorry but I know why you were clinging to Adam's jacket so tenaciously; he smells good, doesn't he and that's why I had to pull your tail so hard, you simply won't let go. Did you leave a hair or two on his jacket? Oooooh...

I am 70 years old straight mother & grandparent I loved adams performance then I love it now abc set it up if any one they should apologise to Adam if they thought it was in poor taste. After Lady Gaga why would anyone be upset with Adam he was amazing then & still is. I grew up with elvis, Chuck Berry etc so why would I be shocked at Adam He is the best they have had for years Dick Clark has not always been an angle. love you Adam for being true to you self ther are so many that are not.

Why the blazes is everyone so obsessed with the AMA's! OMG it was Adam entertaining, plus it's history now, and believe me people surely remembered Adam's name, infact everyone else was invisible that night! I even had one so called 'Glambert' tell me he was clearly 'evil' that night! What a lot of crapola and how on earth can you support Adam with that kind of attitude! Where is the freedom of expression. It's all double standards! Have some bloody faith people in a genius entertainer, with superb vocals, called Adam Lambert.Never doubt this genius beautiful man for one minute because he WILL take this world by total storm and it's already happening!
