Just watching finals of The Voice, there are so many good vocalists among the finalists even from Top 20 this year. The girls' Best Of My Love group singing was superb. Again Bruno Mars is a guest as well as he was last week on XFactor. I feel envious for his success being No.1 again for his latest album.
I have to admit Bruno is such a phenomenal vocalist with lots of nuances to his vocals even Aguilera and other judges were quietly in awe of him while singing. He was also at Ellen today declaring he has 1 billion UTube hits.
I wish Adam surpasses all his success one day.

Regarding Adam's Ray of Light performance, I watched it again on another video and conclude it might not have been entirely the sound technician's input that made it sound a little off. Just my opinion, Adam should have sung it a key higher, like the first time he did, on another video posted here. That version with the magnificent choreography, and Adam strutting fiercely up and down in his antique sign-coat would have been the highlight performance of the night. Now I think Adam's opening number on the signature staircase, is the highlight. Most likely, will be able to watch the whole show at a later date. :)

I do like Bruno Mars but i think his voice is quite weak in comparison to Adam's.No sex appeal for me either. It sounds like he is straining to hit notes. Love most of his songs and he is a great song writer. Did he sing both weeks?I hope someday Adam has the success that Bruno does.

I think Bruno is a very talented guy and a good song writer. As a heart throb I don't get it. He kinda reminds me if a short t Sinatra. Same vibe and that's not an insult. If I wished to be insulting I would ask WTF does anyone see in Taylor Swift???? She sounds and looks the same in every song and bores me senseless! If Adam's TP music had actually gotten heard by a lot of people, he would have had more much-deserved success. Once a singer is "entrenched" by Bruno, his songs and albums just keep going to the top. I'm not taking away from his talent; I'm just saying that the key to it all in a breakthrough song. Then everyone will follow your music repeatedly, regardless. I know this is a broken record, and we've been through it all before. Bruno is a talented guy. Doesn't do anything for me emotionally, but hey.
As for ROL, Adam hasn't made excuses for how the song went. He's gotten pretty positive feedback, regardless.
I get so darn jealous when other singers get to sing on the big shows and get interviewed on the big shows. I know Adam has been there, but NOT NEARLY ENOUGH. It must happen! Album #3!

I think for album 3, simply don't feature gay lyric; not being condescending or yielding to public opinion but it has already been properly 'thrashed' lol! and time to move on...hmm how about some jazz-funk, upbeat pop-rock with no heavy message; ballads with soaring vocals, an Adam staple. Yea, 3 is a good number. Might work better lol! However FYE and Trespassing have done really well, I must say. :)

Perhaps for the 3rd album, Adam might include lyric from the people's angle as opposed to basing it mainly on his own aspirations and experiences; may help draw people more intimately into his songs. I guess that may be the reason why WWFM as well as PSY's Gangnam song, are so appealing...light-hearted with not too heavy message; not that it must dominate the album. Ultimately, it's still Adam's art that dictates. Pragmatism goes a long way though and sometimes works wonders. lol!

No, I have not mentioned Adam giving up writing gay lyric altogether nor being glamorous. The last 2 sentences of my above comment are the key points really; that ultimately it's Adam's art that counts so basically, he can continue writing gay lyric, but for now, perhaps give it some time to settle. And in any case, his first two albums have dealt quite a bit on this issue so may be a little stale to carry on along this line. Bottom-line is we want tremendous sales, not just internationally. Adam says he wants to be identified as a singer, not a gay singer so not really necessary to harp on this gay issue in his next album. He has expressed that pretty elaborately in his first two albums; and nothing wrong with that.

Lam-my, you had me until now with the comments about gay lyrics. There was one pronoun on the FYE album that was used in what could be called a gay lyric. With Trespassing, other than Outlaws of Love, a casual fan would never know that Adam was referencing some of his own experiences. Adam has said himself he is OK with people not liking him rather than trying to cater to people. Being gay is part of Adam and he shouldn't have to hide it or talk about it based on other peoples wishes. I really don't get where you are coming from this time and think you are way off base to say he shouldn't harp on it.

Hey I am not even suggesting Adam should stop writing gay lyric. My point is his first two albums have quite a number of songs which delve into gay references. That have hindered sales in his home country, so it might be a sort of refreshing change to write on other genre lyrics. I've always spoken up for Adam in almost all situations, about 4 years now. My comment states clearly towards the end: Ultimately, it's Adam's art that dictates! The word, dictates means, to command with authority unconditionally. It means he gets the final say. Mine is only a suggestion and if the home market embraces the third album more; it boils down to higher sales, more tv and live shows and may even help him capture his elusive Grammy. Adam will most likely have less gay lyric in his 3rd album simply because he has done that quite extensively and he being an innovative artist might want to go a different direction; but still retaining his gay personality, meaning still retaining some gay lyric. A true artist always writes from his heart. But he also has to bear in mind, music now is a phenomenal business and he needs to carve a niche in it. I'm not worried at all, he knows exactly what to do.

No one can say whether or not the gay content is what hindered this album. It comes down to radio. And why that is baffles me since radio plays a smaller and smaller role in how people hear music these days.
And just the mere idea that he should censor himself is hindering the movement of acceptance. He shouldn't back down for anyone.

There was an era in rock/pop history when more introspective, deep lyrics were embraced and appreciated. We are NOT in that era right now. We are definatley in a more superficial time for popular music. With only a few exceptions, the closest we get to depth is a girl/boy break-up song that sounds like every other girl-boy break-up song. Adam has attempted to make some social statements in his music, lyrically and vocally. It appears that listeners aren't interested right now, or are too ignorant to grasp anything the slightest bit intellectual. I don't want Adam to compromise, either. Many legendary acts stuck to their principles and ultimately, the listeners came to them. Adam's career is taking a path that most of us never expected. It's got more ups and downs and twists and turns than we thought it would. As much as I'd love him to have hit after hit, I'm loving this journey with all its complications and struggles.

The fact that Fever is not played due to the pronoun 'he'...does suggest the content of Adam's songs matters a lot and the FYE song probably falls prey to the same reason because of it's sexual content. Outlaws of Love, such a beautiful ballad, probably will never be heard on radio; so the content of Adam's songs is a rather outstanding reason but definitely business politics come into play. Adam has often said he is a singer first at heart, not an activist though in his own natural way, his visibility has helped the gay movement tremendously. But to place such a tall order on him that his choice of less gay songs will hinder the acceptance movement is not fair to him and his art. As I've said, ultimately Adam's art dictates the outcome of his next album.

Yes it o's funny how trespassing did not catch on here, because it was no. 1 dance tune here,, and no. 1 in other countries, right now, in fact Nevet Close our eye's and Trespassing singles did very well, in many countries, even better than I Knowyself did well in Asia, and Hungary and few countries! Maybe first single would be good to get a colab off new album, to get radio play here it's gonna be good in Asia andorra countries without it, they love Adam period andd support him. Was trespassing no 1 in Febland last week and before the philaphine and sure other place because they play it on the radio! It would be a good ides to do first song like that only because wrican radio is stupid , it's obvious on most cases their palms are being greased to play stuff! Not like that abroad! Adam did the most rarkable job on that show the other night watched and watched it when I am so behind frm always being in pain, everything he did was great, a little sound problem which many had was not their fault, but over all fantastic! He got so much talent, he could go in a lot of directions, seems he said he was negotiating more tv. Adam is a bigger star abroad and Asia easily bigger than Clarkson! He certainly starting to capture America, in different directions! The best show host seen in a long time. Adam needs to pick a genre. Make a rock album or make adult contemporary. He would gain the audiences Josh Groban and Michael Buble have who loyally buy everything they put out. While I personally love the variety of types of songs on Adam's albums the buying public like albums of songs that are in a similiar vein.
The say have you bought the new so and so album, they know they will like it cause they have liked all the others. Adam is in a genre where he competes with kids. Beiber and One Direction are going to beat him every time. Change genres Adam.

RE Adam's music and "gay lyrics". This is what I think: and is my opinion only..

Adam is gay: that isn't just my opinion of course :)) . Technically almost none of his songs are "gay". For instance, only one uses the male pronoun "he" (Fever), which again, in the strictest sense, makes the song "gay" I suppose, unless sung by a female..[shrugs].. One of my favorite Adam Lambert songs..Personally I love that he's singing about a boy,..But we also know that one word prevented Fever from being released as a single in the US. Which is a pity. Damn.

We know that there are some songs that do have covert references and nods to the gay experience and community (Kickin In, Shady) because Adam himself told us what some lyrics refer to, but most listeners wouldn't know the difference unless someone interpreted and explained the couched meanings. The lyrics could just as easily be "heterosexual". Its in the "eye" of the beholder. Only one song on Trespassing, the album is identifiable as perhaps "openly" referencing same sex love but certainly has a more broad interpretation as well. That would be Outlaws of Love, a song about anyone who loves outside the strict bounds of societal "rules". Not so long ago it could have been about interracial love..or love between those of different religions, etc. Seems to me, his songs are inclusive of all people, all sexualities..

So, in my opinion, the reason some people conclude that Adam's music is "gay": because they know he is gay and therefore let that knowledge spill over into their vision of who he is singing to and/or about. He could be singing about a dog..and unless he was specific about who he's singing about, those who look for a gay reference will assume he's singing about a boy.

So, I guess we'll see what Adam comes up with next musically. I hope you get what I'm saying here. I personally would hope Adam will continue to write and sing the music that moves him, that he loves. I wouldn't wish him to compromise his vision of what he wishes his signature music to be. It isn't necessarily about "gay" per se, its about some of his listeners getting beyond the fact of who he is, and moving on to enjoying and appreciating his music because of it's artistic value..and because its good music. For all of us.

Okay just give one example, don't want to prolong it, eg, in the FYE song which happens to be my favourite song these lyric : Imma hold ya down till you're amazed....Give it to ya till you're screaming my name....Adam is singing this in the first person, 'I' and he's a gay man so the homophobic people will definitely interpret it with gay sex connotation. The whole song is about this. In the international world the people who do not have this kind of homophobia automatically interpret it as heterosexual. In Fever and FYE, if you examine the lyric closely, the gay connotation immediately crops up if viewed from a homophobic angle.

Exactly what I just said..It depends on each person's perspective. But I don't feel Adam's songs are generally intrinsically "gay". They are about "life". Only when someone thinks they are gay..because he is gay. I don't think we disagree at all. : )) The issue for some people is that he IS gay..not that his songs are gay..that's just their bias. I also feel badly that he has to bend over backwards to avoid the "gay" in his music vids. There will come a time that he won't have to do that as much..but for now, he is using his creative mind to present his music visually in a way that more people will identify with..and be comfortable with [sigh..]..which I feel in a way can actually perhaps reduce the impact of the song, if it is a love song, for instance "Never Close Our Eyes". He is one of the very few singers currently who, sadly, must be guarded about showing a love interest. One day tho, that will not be the case. But for now, just another one of the many challenges he faces with his music in a generally "straight" world of music. Too bad we think of it in those terms. Should just be the "human" world of music...

By the way, For Your Entertainment is one of my favorite songs too..and my #1 favorite music video. And the visual in my mind of Adam holding ANYONE down until they scream his name...well...er...excuse me for a moment........................Phew!!!! Adam, a gay man and his love/sex songs cannot be viewed separately, in my opinion. So when you say he's gay but his songs are not gay...it's okay per se but his love/sex songs are actually the inner expressions of himself, his experiences; somewhat like 2-in-1 rather than viewed as two separate entities. And Outlaws of Love is definitely referring to his gay experiences or the gay community; phrases like rotting in hell and even the straight jacket and electric shock referred to in Trespassing song, are direct gay references. In the not so distant past, thought to be insane, they were tied up with a straight jacket; others given electric shocks. Yea definitely a lot of the songs are about life too. Adam is gay and his love/sex songs being viewed as gay songs, is a natural association because Adam and his songs are tight-knit, like the example I gave above. Definitely, not so many gay songs really. But when homophobic people hear a few of them with gay connotation, they switch off with regard to the other songs and the album. That may be a plausible reason for the lower album sales. But I think both albums did very well.

And the majority of people listening to Trespassing (the album) wouldn't hear any gay lyrics, you probably only think that because Adam has told us. But OOL could be for any forbidden love, I know many inter racial and mixed religion marriages that would fit the words. Even the club songs, could apply to anyone out clubbing trying to pick someone up. Not just gay people have one night stands!!

I happen to be a positive, outward-looking person; so you're right, the diehard homophobic people will not buy his albums. The target group here are the fence-sitters. With a little toning down of gay lyric and a fantastic dance beat, hopefully these undecided ones might just get off the fence to embrace his music even if they may not entirely accept him. Music has a way of working people's hearts and minds. Adam might just be the right person to do that with the right songs...probably songs with less of a homophobic slant. In any case he has expressed quite elaborately his feelings on the gay issue, directly or indirectly, in his first two albums and Adam always loves to try things from different angles. Including some cover songs is another suggestion. Actually these are just suggestions and I really didn't expect this flurry of arguments. Hopefully more of these fence-sitters will come to embrace Adam. Comparing now and 4 years back, I do see some gradual leaning towards him. We can't change everybody but got to start somewhere. However, bear in mind, this is not his goal at all. Bottom-line is still Adam's art at the very core of his 3rd album, regardless the reasons that may influence him. JMO, ADAM happened at the wrong time. He was already 27 on AI when everyone else started somewhere 15-18 and he chose the pop genre because he said rock is not played on radio (ironically it applied to his pop tunes as well).
Right after his season on AI, JB sensation happened, Bruno Mars appeared on the scene and all these social media exploded while Taylor Swift grabbing all these awards with her bubble gum tunes while he was putting his Trespassing together.
When it came out, music has just become so low quality and all that matters to be a hit is the same repetitive danceable beat and just silly words. Adele was the anomaly with all these trash.
He should go the way of more rock. In the Diva show, the one that got my attention was Miley rocking that Rebel song and the lady rocker from UK (not sure), they were the highlights I enjoyed of all the female divas on that show (Jordin also was a standout with the Whitney tribute).

If you really want to find a scapegoat, it's got to be those who are asking me to explain my suggestion. Nothing would have happened if they didn't address their comments to me. I do certainly realize that this is a friendly discussion but at the same time I wish to clarify a few things. Because quite frankly, the discussion is going around in circles at this point!! I also wish you to know that my thoughts are my own, not just a rehash of yours, or someone else's. We share ideas here. I was a little puzzled as to why you felt it necessary to explain to me that Adam is gay and therefore his songs are a reflection of this reality, and HIS reality. Well, of course! That goes without saying. I believe, as I said once before, just EXACTLY that! HOWEVER, my point, again, was this: Just because he is gay, and that is his reality, there are still basic universal human, uni-sex (multi-sex?) themes within his music. Adam's hope has always been {something he has repeatedly stated since Trespassing the Album was released, and not just my opinion] that each person listening to his music and his voice will take the message within his music and make it a part of their OWN reality, whether they be gay or straight, male or female. It is only when the listener projects Adam's personal reality upon that message, that music, that it becomes "gay" in theme, at least in their own minds. And perhaps that is the reason there are some who resist listening to his music because they can only hear/see the "gay", and not the universal themes.

I love "gay" Adam. It is part of his personal reality. But I can also hear the music in a way that relates to me, a straight woman. Music is meant to be shared. Pop music is most "popular", as it were, when the message shared initially by the artist, means something personally to the person listening to the song, the words, the feeling one gets from the music on some basic personal organic level.

In the case of Outlaws of Love, or Underneath, one feels the raw emotion of Adam's own anguish, or in the case of Nirvana, his deep feelings of love, peace, joy and ultimate safety that he finds in being in that special Heaven he has found with his partner Sauli (we know he wrote this song with Sauli in mind..he has said so). We fans know so much about Adam's journey, because he has been very open and has shared so much of it with us, but those who listen without that knowledge can certainly take something from the music as well. Adam is gay; he is also a human being.. "gay" is only one aspect of who he is. I fully expect that he will continue to celebrate ALL of the aspects of himself in his music. And I applaud that.

I also truly believe you and I are on the same wavelength here..We just express our thoughts in slightly different ways.

I said that I would be happier if they put forth their own suggestions, more to refute the person who said I was trying to prove that I was right. Not so much aiming at the friends here. Also there were way too many overlapping questions / comments addressing the same issue, to me. I am one who try as far as possible to reply to whatever is addressed to me. I guess this is due to my years of work when I always made sure everything was in order before I left. So it was 2 am when I finished and really exhausted from all the 'bombardment'. So under those circumstances and also as a rebuttal to the person, I said those words. But when you read on, surely you could have given me a small benefit of the doubt because I did follow up by saying it was okay because I actually enjoy chatting with the friends here and that is true, otherwise I wouldn't be here every day. So again you are making me explain and then that intimidated opportunist will seize the opportunity to say I'm trying to prove I'm right; but in reality I'm again asked to explain.
