Out of curiosity, I have just listened to the official Queen video of this song and there should be no doubt whatsoever regarding Adam's place with Queen. His vocals are spot on - no straining, no singing in a lower key, note and pitch perfect. To sing this live with such perfection night after night is unbelievable. He absolutely slays this song.

@Celtic Mairin
Interested to know which song are you talking about?

"Who Wants To Live Forever" - sorry I forgot that there was more than one video.

Adam's performance of "Save Me"....

There are no words that capture just how brilliant he is on this song. This Nottingham performance... it's utterly Flawless. It renders everything a person could possibly receive and feel in this performance. Every emotion is interpreted just at the appropriate amount - never too much to be "showy"; yet just at the level and timing to grip your heart and viscerally FEEL the words and make it your own inside (whatever the situation might be for each individual person).
It's pure musical Art.

Adam truly does this song...the raw vulnerability... the disoriented confusion and denial.... the unconditional love wrought in agony... and the heart-cry of millions in their own life stories... due justice.

Another thing that makes this song so powerful... is that Adam has crafted this song - skillfully rendered by Brian - as his very own... and the exquisite melody highlights & features the bright, luminescent, pitch perfect, transient clarity of Adam's natural voice & tonality. It's like listening to a babbling brook at especially poignant moments.
The combination of song and singer... expresses a delivery that has become a masterpiece. IMHO, it's simply Profound.

I like that "Save Me" seems relatively easy for Adam to sing (and minimally challenging relative to the backdrop of Queen's music catalog); considering the key and melodic lines inherent in the song. Effortless....
But, then.... such is the workings of our GFG. ;)

It also makes me feel good to know that this song is such a masterful beauty without strain to Adam's voice performance after performance.

IMO, even if someone doesn't particularly enjoy "Save Me;" as a their own QAL favorite... or perhaps can't relate to it personally...
I would still think they could easily acknowledge that it is - at a minimum - a Stunner.

The idea that Adam sing the first verse acapella (I would think it probably came from Adam, himself)... is a stroke of genius as this type of 'laid-bare' segment only contributes to it's gentle power and perfectly creates the vocal setting for the added crescendo that Adam offers as the song progresses.

Most of us know that Adam has historically shone extraordinarily bright in acapella renditions of strong songs - even that of his own... and, he knows just how to massage each nuance. I personally think he particularly enjoys singing acapella parts... so, to me, it seems rather fun for him. :))

I feel happy to see & hear that we are blessed with witnessing the magnificence of his instrument and craftsmanship each time we hear it (along with all of the QAL songs!) and experience the treat of these videos.

Suffice it to say...

We're witnessing vocal genius. :))

yada, you said it all perfectly. Adam can belt with the best of them, but his skill with a softer-toned song is equally masterful. He maintains the power of the message, the nuances of the melody and stays in complete control. I like some other singers, too, but no one delivers like he does, every single time.

Celtic, forgot to add in my previous post: I (and just about everyone I can think of) believes WWTLF to be Adam's quintessential tour-de-force. Even Brian gets stopped in his tracks. And it's all natural, pure, unadulterated real voice. GFG for sure.

Celtic Mairin... I so agree with your words about Adam and his role with Queen.

He belongs there. Period.

And his execution of WWTLF... your statement that he "slays" it. I agree, I agree...

I think he's gone and done the same with it that he's done with Idol.....
He broke it. ;)

I mean, how can it really be song any other way now?

:-))

Somewhere in comments, someone laments Brian's appearance (that he looks like he doesn't feel well).

I've read that "Save Me" expresses Brian's emotions after his first wife took their children and left him. He is visibly deeply touched when Adam sings it and reaches out to comfort him. I've seen tears glistening in Adam's eyes, too. Most likely tears of sympathy for Brian, whom he obviously loves dearly. Raw emotions can make you feel and look physically ill.

"Save Me" is a beautiful song written by one beautiful man and sang by another one.

I adore the whole group and hope they keep singing together for many, many years.

I would gladly listen forever if they were writing and performing new songs as well. Jm
