One's mind's eye sees the sublime
In ordinary things
The innate message behind
So the deeper the mind
The more spectacular the eye
Now Adam's mind's eye is sharp
Honed through years of life's path
The Original High gathers the stuff
Throws it in and voila!
Out pours a kaleidoscope of puffs
Something that will knock you off, real rough
I think I'm still waiting for that big ballad
What we've gotten so far suits my palate
An extraordinary eclectic effort...love it!

May I use the first 2 verses from your poem as a motto, with a little change? Let's agree that you said "yes", shall we?
"The eye of the intuition sees the sublime/In ordinary things."
The lyrics of Evil... and Another...are about matters of the heart, apparently nothing complex, nothing complicated, hmm, not in Adam's
case.Deceptive, this is the key word, the password that provides our access to the deep meaning of the lyrics, as "it ain't that deep " doesn't always prove to be right.Don't let yourself be deceived, the lyrics are odd, sometimes even outrageous, you have to stay alert, the lover can be evil, he/she looks like a creature from hell,"razor blade lips and daggers up in your eyes."
After a reassuring intro, "my life flashed before my eyes", the madness begins, , bombs over Broadway, the symbol of popular entertainment, f-fire in the sky(I remember Adam singing the initial consonant twice , I don't remember which was the song)
Overtly wild and crazy.
Another...is the song whose lyrics have caused me head aches, I've sensed that there is something more, for a while I couldn't put my finger on it.I , my third eye, have felt that the lyrics are equivocal: the love Adam sings about is torture, it is unhealthy, is it love or obsession, no joys, only regrets. And an odd scent of exalted beatitude , narcissism prevails the picture, a discreet desire, delight in loneliness and suffering.
Apparently subdued and sane.
It would have been banal to sing about abandon, to weep his tears of despair, to mourn his old love, to proclaim ostentatiously that memory of old love is the the only reason to live, in broad daylight. To indulge himself into happy images , once, now turned into a nightmarish present needs the favor of the dark because he is the child of the Moon, isn't he and it is the Moon , the Ancients say, that influences, increases people's sexual instincts, desires, lust, infidelity.
Yes, Adam says, "our dreams aren't always what we think they're going to be."

Wow! Pan.....That's quite a lot to digest...I better now look into the depth of the lyric with more scrutiny, which I did not, to be honest. Usually I just skim the lyric, the song and beat arrest my attention a lot more; now that you have dissected it, I'll get to it after I'm done with the song, first. lol! Hey Thanks for that dissection...sort of agree, but I have not probed the meanings. Yea, like your version of the 'eye of the intuition' / the mind's eye. Enjoyed your write-up.

Your psychological bubbles will burst when you find out the lyrics were written by someone other than Adam. : )))))))

I believe that Adam has said in the past that lyrics are his specialty. I also remember some song writer, I think it's Bonnie McKee, saying that she's able to write crazy, big range melodies for Adam because he can do it. Makes me think that Bonnie is writing music to Adam's lyrics. ;)))

Adam collaborated with 4 others to write Another Lonely Night but he isn't listed as a writer of Evil In the Night.

THE SAME ADDRESSEE
They, the 11 ones are, according to wiki:Jeff Bhasker, Philip Lawrence, Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Nicholas Williams, Devon Gallaspy, Lonnie Simmons , Ronnie Wilson, Charles Wilson, Robert Wilson ,Rudolph Taylor.
If you're going to tell me that BM is the fourth and Adam the last, give me a break, we'll be playing again another time.
Ciao!

Pan, they list the primary writer first.

Adam said he wrote the lyrics to OH, and that was the one he took to MM on a demo. All the rest he co-wrote in some way. Some more than others some less, but his name is on all of them.

Anonymous said...

Pan, if you look at the writing credits on Adam's music you will see his name is listed at different points. If Adam's name is first he wrote most of it. If Adam's name is last he wrote very little of it.

....know he does not want to do a "cover album" but wish he had thrown in a few on this album. He is SO talented, gorgeous, loved, adored but....something is wrong. He should be blowing the music industry out of the water but isn't....WHY?? I'm not going to use my usual tag in closing cuz any sign of critic gets slashed...love the guy SO much but ...I have serious concerns~!! I know, I know...the quality of my "fanship" is obviously not up to yours .... wish we could also discuss out concerns here and not be shot down.

@10:48 AM

If you don't know the answer to most of your questions; I assume you have not been following Adam for the last six years! I also don't think your questions are serious ones.

Because of all the current excitement about Adam and the fans joyous feeling at this time; me thinks, that you just wanted to throw a damper into all the celebrations, all over the different fan blogs! Do you think people are crazy and cannot see what you are doing, with your innocent little act. I don't think you love the guy "SO" much, get real.

If you want covers so bad, go listen to an artist that does them. Adam did not want to do covers and did not do them. That is why he left RCA. Your post is insulting to this wonderful artist. TOH is going to be one of Adam's Master Pieces, just wait and see. You have not even heard all the songs and you are talking about him doing covers. You sound like some piece of work!!

Adam is doing great. he seems so joyous and happy, this is what his fans have been waiting for; and our continuous tireless support will help him stay. I believe in him and his endless talents. It is such a joy to see this young man rise to the top where he belongs. He is getting recognition and praise from all around the world; No denying; his time has finally come!!

If you want to be a fan; act like one. Support him; he has a management team, and a record company; and probably plenty of critic. From fans; he needs love and support. So proud of him!

You are not using your tag; seems you don't want people to know just how arrogant you sound. Unless you were born yesterday; you should know the answer to all of your ridiculous questions!!!

Of course; not true what you said. Adam does not lie about these things! I believe what he says about his own music. If he has not written one word on this album (which is not the case) It Would not matter. Because, the songs would be nothing without that one in a Billion voice of his, bringing them to life in such sexy, fabulous way!

Some artists never write their own songs and are big stars. No biggie either way; except more money if he involved in the writing. Who cares whether the name is first or second. Who are you, and why are you trying to diminish Adam's roles in the making of his albums. Adam is smart; he knows exactly what he is doing!!!! I say more power to him!!!!! The more popular and successful Adam Lambert becomes; the more Negative Nicks and Nellies crawl out of the woodwork!

Instead of spending your time trying prove that he did not write his songs, are what spot his name is in. Why don't you just run on over and give GHOST TOWN hit!!!

@Karen G., Right On! "Take "em To Church"!

Pan. - I will confess to being 4:21 AM, but that's it.
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but it amuses me that it seems necessary for some of Adams fans to think he is Infallable and can walk on water. That he is deep and a talent beyond compare.

Isn't it enough that he has a golden throat?

Anonymous said...

11:56 AM, why is it such a hard concept for you to grasp that Adam did not write all the lyrics on the album and that you are not a lesser fan for acknowledging that.

You might want to cut back on the caffeine.

Being a Glambert is like joining a cult. All or nothing!
I prefer to just be a fan.

Anonymous said...

That's the very reason I would never consider myself a Glambert, I can't stand the meanness dished out from one fan to the next. I'm a fan of Adam's and I enjoy his music as an individual. Theirs no way I want to join a united front with so much negativety.

....so many assumptions, so many of them wrong...i.e. this is the only fan blog I have ever entered and obviously it needs to be my last entry anywhere. Like the last 2 entries, I will just be the smitten fan I have been for more than 6 years and leave froth to the rabid dogs.

The majority of Adam Lambert fans are fabulous and lovely people.. Once in awhile things get a bit wild..

"Glamberts" are quite frankly just another term for Adam Lambert fans.. I'm not sure why for some it's a pejorative term..

I hope you'll give this blog another look on another day..

10:48 AM said...

....thank you Glitzylady ... you are amazing and your efforts are admired and appreciated.

Anonymous said...

It's a pejorative because those that love the term and identify as one frequently act crazy and their behavior is often embarrassing to other fans.

glitzylady said...

I've been in the fandom since the beginning and it depends who you talk to.. I would consider myself a "Glambert" and I don't think I'm crazy :)))))))))

Hahahaha!! (well, maybe a little bit.....).....

Just a big fan of this beautiful and talented man...

The fandom in general is referred to as "Glamberts".. Adam seems fine with it.. And seems proud of his Glamberts aka fans..

It's really a shame that there are those who think badly of the fandom.. There are always a few who do crazy things.. but most are great...

glitzylady said...

I also want to add that even those fans who are super *enthusiastic* do what they do because they adore Adam and do what they can, in their own way, to support Adam in his career.. It's done out of love and admiration... at least that's how I see it..

Glitzylady@ 5:58. HOnestly true! So glad he has that many fans who are diverse in every aspect. Adam loves us all!

Too bad a few bad apples spoil the barrel.

daydreamin said...

Yea, but lets keep the positivity going for Adam's sake!!

The rabid ravings of some Glamberts directed at other Glamberts is abhorrent and enough to put off many would-be fans.

Who are you, you forever present energy thief, debbie downer, spoilsport???? How many negative posts today and in this thread alone? @Admins, care to count?

Please try to stay away from your keyboard, if these are your true feelings. Go do something nice yourself, you feel better.

You can follow Adam's career without commenting on fan blogs, you don't have to have anything to do with Glamberts, just enjoy the voice of this beautiful, gorgeous man, listen to and watch im sing and speak!

I think 4:01am wants the same as me. I'd also prefer a nice thread without the unnecessary attacking at other posters, it's rude...
Glamberts are a diverse group, every one a fan in their own ways. Just the way it should be.
Love and respect for those, who want to get along here together and share their thoughts about Adam at these exciting times! YAY for Adam and the new music!:)
