I didn't think it would happen, but Grandma June is growing on me (kinda like that thing on her lip LOL). I image she will have some adventures on her quest for the perfect hairdo and for something to cure her "woolly lip." I know she's not everyone's cup of tea, but I had a Aunt Jinx long ago who wore one of those 1950s mink stoles with three little mink heads on it, each with a little nose and beady eyes. She used to let us kind of pet them. I loved Aunt Jinx, BTW. So in a way, Grandma June reminds me of Aunt Jinx. Both characters but kinda lovable.

Doesn't everybody have an "Aunt Jinx" in their family or acquaintences? Actually, mine was my grandmother. Even around the house, she always wore glamorous full length "Hostess Gowns" (instead of housecoats) with full makeup and hairdo at all times... right up until the day she died of a stroke at age 83 or 84. Even her nightgowns were never "granny gowns", but glamorous flowing creations. She was strikingly beautiful at ALL ages -- but had a wonderful sense of humor and wicked wit. We kids (grandkids and great-grandkids) all loved her, because she would make great"tents" for us to play in... using numerous sheets draped over tables and chairs. THEN she'd crawl in there with us, and read to us, or (her specialty) tell us the most spine chilling stories you can imagine!!

Last but not least, she had a full upper plate of teeth -- which she would occasionally "shoot" out and in for us, accompanied by our peals of laughter! What's not to love?

Hah!.....My grandmother was a quiet little mouse......but.....I had an Aunt Zula (I have no idea where the name originated). She was a tiny 5' beauty and very society-ladyish and screamingly funny. She had a giant closet filled with evening gowns.....rhinestones and sequins blinded you from the glow. (This was the early 1940's). She had been blessed with 3 tall sturdy sons, but she longed for a daughter.......so I was her substitute! When I was a child she let me sit at her dressing table and play in the drawers of makeup while she "did" my hair. By the time I was 9 I could wear her clothes and shoes.

She and I would dress up.......full drag.......and sit on the front porch with strawberry pop in champagne glasses and watch the neighborhood kids play hopscotch and jump rope. On occasion she would hike up her satin formal and give in when the kids would beg her to jump double-Dutch!*

*all you "kids" under 50 may have to ask an older person what that was.

Naturally she was my favorite aunt!
