Very interesting article! The past ten years or so have been so pivotal in the issues of gay rights, gay perceptions and prejudices. Adam was a really important part of that process. And there is still a long way to go. And the "singing shows," whether you love them or hate them, are a true showcase for bringing to the forefront so many people who would otherwise been hidden or marginalized. The difference shows up in many places.

I was just watching "Instinct," that new show with Alan Cumming, who used to be on The Good Wife. He plays a gay crime-solver on Instinct. It's a light, kind of comic show, nothing heavy. In the show, Alan's character, Dylan, is married to a man. At the end of tonight's episode, Dylan and husband are together on a sidewalk in New York City. They talk for a minute, then lightly kiss, then walk away holding hands. There was a time when that scene would have been done only for laughs. It would have been a big, clownish joke, with no dignity or realism. But now it's just two loving people who can openly show their feelings.

That's just one example. I'm glad Adam has been a part of this new era of acceptance. It's not easy.

Very true. I have to agree with you for sure!

I do watch "Instinct", a really great new TV show, and yes, it's wonderful that Alan Cumming's character is shown in a relationship (marriage) that just happens to be with a man. Alan in his real life is bisexual, and his current spouse is a man. It's just so refreshing to see the diversity that is becoming more and more visible. And accepted... May it continue....

I also just watched the movie "Call Me By Your Name', a movie that I suspect would not perhaps have been as successful just a few years ago. It was of course nominated for Best Picture and the main character (in real life 22 year old Timothee Chatalet) was also nominated, as Best Actor. I definitely recommend the movie.

Obviously we have a long way to go but certainly getting better!

I saw Call Me By Your Name, too. I thought it was so touching and heart-wrenching. A real love story that was doomed to never be. When Armie Hammer's character called at the end and said he was getting married (to a woman), it really showed the rules of society that were in place at that time. And Timothy's father had a wonderful father-son speech that just said so much. Adam tweeted his admiration for that particular scene.

I read the whole article and absolutley loved it! Very happy for the LGBT community how life for them is much brighter and more accepting, (well perhaps here and there, it's still a process). All this has come to mind that Sammy Davis Jr. song, "I Gotta Be Me"! Whether I'm right, or whether I'm wrong, etc. "I Gotta Be Me, I Gotta Be Me"! Yes this community are being themselves and showing the world and saying Hey we're just like you in many ways! As for Jurnee and Ada, I was impressed at their auditions and knew they were going though Hollywood Week, and Jurnee did amazing with Rhiannas Love on the Brain, (something about the brain, lol) and Ada is next to perform, tonight I think, because they're already having the Duets, so I'm not sure. I also remember Danny Noreiga from season 7, why I don't know, but I remember him singing, "Tainted Love", I know, I know it's "useless information". Hahaha

The last ten minutes of "Call Me By Your Name" was so beautiful, emotional, heart wrenching and at the same time, so brilliant. The father & son conversation was absolutely perfect. And there was more there that you could sense about he father and his life experience, just under the surface. Timothee Chatalet (the 17 year old teen main character "Elio"), in the last few moments showed such a range of emotion, just in his facial expressions.. Loved the movie so much. I'm thinking of reading the book to catch more of the nuances, the unsaid emotions and thoughts that were hard to convey in the movie. Just so good...

I've been absent from this site. Today I felt an urge to say a quick HELLO!

Hope you are all well.
In November I enjoyed my two QAL concerts. I went to Munic with a friend of mine and my dad and I went to Vienna. Made great friends there. It was really awesome.
Can't wait to do it all again in June, this time not sitting like the concerts in November but standing. I want to be right at the barrier. I'll be RIGHT there for STL, UP etc.!!!
I watched the movie "call me by your name" and was hooked! I hav since fallen down the rabbit hole with interviews of Armie Hammer and Timothy Chalamet. They are so funny, eloquent, smart, insightful...simply entertaining. I read the book and couldn't put it down. Read it in one sitting. The book ends later than the movie does. The ending of the book is also REALLY strong IMO. It just hit me really hard. I felt so much pain for these to characters, got nauseous, felt like throwing up. lol...It felt intense.

On another note: Can't wait to finally hand in my Bachelor-Thesis next Friday!

Oh, and also: I'm SO excited for new Adam music. I totally LOVE that snippet Adam shared with us.

As for Call Me By Your Name, I just may read the book, too. It really moved me. That last extended scene of Elio staring into the fire and weeping after he found out that Oliver is getting married was heartbreaking. Kind of like he staring into his own private hell. One fo the best movies of the year.
