But before we move on to the Ryan Seacrest.com article.....

Many of us long time fans remember Adam Lambert's "Motown Week" American Idol Season 8 performance.. "Tracks Of My Tears"... And the Motown Man and original  singer of the song himself, Smokey Robinson, who mentored the contestants that week and was in the Idol audience the night of the performances, gave Adam a standing "O", because he was just THAT impressed!!

Here's the "long version" video of Adam's Idol performance, including the meeting with Smokey Robinson, the performance, and the judges comments after.. [The video embedded in the Ryan Seacrest.com article is at the bottom of the page here.. this one directly below is better :) because it includes everything!!! More Adam is always a GOOD thing!! ]..

This song shows just how skilled Adam is. He can belt with the best of them, but this performance shows that he has incredible power and control and nuance when he sings quietly. LOVE the judges' comments and Smokey's standing O! Among the many talented singers on Idol, there has never ever been a contestant like Adam.

This song was the start of my obsession. I couldn't get enough of Adam after this night. My parents and I were glued to the tv every week following just to see what Adam would do next.

I was so obsessed with Adam's performances on Idol.
I would watch his performances repeatedly after the show on You Tube all day, all night all week until the next one.
This Track of My Tears was playing both the performance and the studio version 24/7 at home.
Adam is the most exciting, most gorgeous contestant ever on any singing show, not even mentioning his overflowing talents.

There never has been or will be anyone in Idol that comes close to his week to week performances. The Clark guy tonight on xIdols butchered the song IMHO.

No wonder it's on Adam's "Best Of..." album. I was immediately obsessed with Adam's version of that song, especially as he performed it the week after ROF. It was shockingly good.

This was an AMAZING PERFORMANCE from Adam. Brilliantly, brilliantly interpreted and performed. In fact, my daughter and I were watching this very video 3 nights ago (and just pouring over his Idol performances for hours :)). She and I discussed at length just how skillfully Adam not only sings and interprets the songs.... But, also how he maintains the integrity of their lyrics , and the artists' song-writing; such as in 'Tracks of My Tears' and Robinson's original breath of intent. And, IMO, Adam certainly enhances the emotional invocations in the beauty and message of each song he delivers. Each song is not just a cover.... It's a masterpiece of its own.

IMO, It's like he brought the songs to life..... And honored the original artists while doing so. And he did that ..... Week after glorious week with each song he brought to life. (And he's still doing with any cover he ever does - even QAL - today!)
In some cases, when Adam sang these songs, it was as though I was hearing those songs lyrics... And the original artist's expression anew, for the first time - eventhough I'd heard some of those songs again & again for decades. He is the most exciting and brilliant singer of our lifetime. Hands down.

Hearing Adam sing is one of my favorite of things to do.... I NEVER get tired of it. It never gets old. And his older performances.... Such as this treasured Idol moment.... Are Gems. :)))

PS. I can definitely say it was the first time I have ever been moved to tears over 'Tracks of My Tears'. Though a undeniable classic and great one from Smokey.... Adam brought a passion and heart-wrenching quality to it that I hadn't heard before.

(He did the same with 'One' (always been a fav of mine) and "If I Can't Have You". I swear, anytime I hear that song it's like I can't breathe it's soooooooooo good! Vocals are flawless, my mouth gapes open at this performance. It gets you in right in the gut. My daughter said, "And you're saying the Bee Gees sang this song, Mom? No way.... Are you sure??". Hahaha.....
Adam makes all of his songs (cover or no cover) sound like they were created yesterday. :)))))

No doubt that Adam's still the BEST ever on AI:)

Every time I hear a song that Adam has covered, it becomes his, and no one seems to be able to equal or top it, particularly when done by an Idol contestant. Adam has just raised the bar so high.

**Please please make sure to give the vid at Ryan's site a hit. Important to keep Adam on their radar as a popular draw.

Okay, last comment (for now lol) on Adam's Idol performances....
(See? Here I go again. For me... It's like Adam's QAL performances and my favorites of his songs.... SO hard to just talk about one! Sigh....).....

Adam's performance of 'Change is Gonna Come'....

IMO... BEST American Idol performance EVER.

And, IMHO, one of his most brilliant performances to date. Total, unadulterated, vocal perfection. I'm not sure it could ever be sung better than that, with exception only to Sam Cook, himself. Every single note was immaculate... With complete vocal control, and perfectly on-point with integrity to the R&B flavor with which it was written. Stunning. Flawless.....

Adam's masterful handling of R&B styles is soooo natural with his vocal tonality and he sounds simply incredible when he sings it. It's like hand in glove for him (he also is tremendously versatile, no doubt...). Remember the snippet of that R&B performance by Adam that we kept listening to over and over from his last Halloween shindig? Incredible!

So...... I have to say I am BEYOND excited about his upcoming album for many reasons.... Including the fact that he says it includes some R&B mixed in. A modern, fresh style if mixed with house...I think it's going to be downright AMAZING. :)))))

.... Okay, I'll hush now. ;)

yada, I think his "A Change Is Gonna Come" just knocked everyone off their feet. The judges were almost on the floor.

Adam dared to bend the rules in marvelous ways. He chose a song in the proper "assigned" genre of the week, but then did not always sing the song in that genre's style. "If I Can't Have You" is a perfect example. Disco song, disco week, NON-disco style. WOW! That performance is one of my all-time favorites of all his AI performances. It caught everyone off-guard. Even Simon went on and on with his praise. And don't even get me started about "Beth." Angelic face, sparking eyes, sultry smile. Lord help me.

One more thing. Those amazing pics of him standing in the hallway in that luscious suit have been indelibly stamped in my head for six years. His natural beauty just glows. What a handsome man.

I could be here all day writing about Adam Lambert; but I can't and won't. But, this man is just phenomenal in his artistry. I have not seen anyone like him. It is like you fall under his spell; and there is just no way out; and you don't want to leave!

I feel like so many of you do above. Especially at 8:45 PM; I swear, that was me too! I was there from the beginning; and it's just never going to end. I am so glad of that. This young man has enriched my life so much musically. I also love his beautiful kind compassion towards other no matter what their race or circumstances! He is just a good caring human being; and I just love him!!

Through his career ups and downs, I have been there; through my "oh no, did he just do that", and the worry of his career in the aftermath. I was always backing and hoping that all will be ok; and here we are today. Supporting Adam, buying, buying and gifting and listening and watching every TV program he is own.

I think that Adam really feels our love and support. That universal power of our support is really helping to carry through this beautiful talent that cannot and will not be denied.

I really think this THE ORIGINAL HIGH; will be the one that will give Adam the adulation and recognition from the masses that he deserves. Adam's Queen collaboration has raised his profile worldwide; as more of an international superstar then already was. This will continue, thanks to Brian and Roger and Adam!! It was just meant to be! I say look out USA this Adam Lambert's year; and it is about darn time!!!!!!!

Thanks to all the fans that stayed with this man, and new fans he seems to be getting everyday!!

Better get out of here; job is waiting. Only have Adam on my car CD; so he will be with me on the way! I kissed radio goodbye, until they start playing Adam!!

Those photos in the gray suit and black shirt always kick me in the heart. That's what my husband wore at our wedding....and he was a beauty too!

But couldn't sing at all! :-)

Adam is extraordinary. I felt compelled this morning to tweet this to him (now that era3 is upon us):

"I hope you don't take too lightly that your ability to convey emotions through song is literally unmatched"

Perfect tweet to Adam, Gabi. So very very true! :))

Gabi, that tweet is a keeper. Adam just has that certain something that sets him apart from all others. I've been a fan of other singers, but I've never been swept away like this before.
