Over the past 2 days, Adam Lambert has been the target of a petition to have him removed from Singapore's New Years Eve Celebration "Celebrate 2016".

Subsequently, in support of Adam Lambert, a "counter petition" was submitted as well, by those good people in Singapore who felt Adam was being unfairly targeted and discriminated against..

As of this writing, well over 15,000 signatures have been submitted in support of Adam Lambert's upcoming appearance. Many from Singapore residents but also from fans & other supporters around the world..

It has been confirmed by Warner Music Singapore that: (Via this tweet LINK)

"ARTISTE EXTRAORDINAIRE, ADAM  LAMBERT,  WILL HEADLINE "CELEBRATE 2016" WITH A STELLAR PERFORMANCE THAT WILL DISPLAY HIS BELIEF IN CELEBRATING THE ENTIRE HUMAN FAMILY IN ALL ITS DIVERSITY"

Tweet from Warner Brothers Singapore: "Show your support for Adam Lambert at Celebrate 2016.."

Recent controversy (it’s even on CNBC) has placed media broadcaster MediaCorp in hot soup over the choice to bring in artiste Adam Lambert to Singapore to headline Celebrate 2016, their annual New Year’s Eve show.

Warner Music Singapore has released a statement from Lambert himself addressing the controversy caused by a petition with over 14,000 signatories to remove him from the show:

Adam Lambert: “I Am A Uniter, Not A Divider”

“My performance at Celebrate 2016 will not only be a spectacular one, it will celebrate the entire human family in all its diversity. I am a uniter, not a divider, and I believe in celebrating the human heart and spirit. I have put together an entirely new show experience for my fans that is kicking off in Singapore. The Original High tour is based primarily on new material, and it promises to be a thoughtful and sophisticated insight into the pursuit of happiness and self-worth. There is no better time for celebration than at the moment one year changes into another, so I hope you will join me to celebrate the future and 2016.”

The petition has since inspired a counter-petition that has reached some 12,000 signatories as of press time.

Warner Music Singapore's Official Statement:

“Warner Music is proud to welcome Adam Lambert, a true artiste extraordinaire to Singapore, and hope that fellow Singaporeans will join us in ushering in 2016 with a spectacular night of fun-filled family entertainment.”

NOTE: A more in depth article regarding the negative petition to have Adam removed from the New Years Eve celebration concert & festivities can be found here if interested (the numbers cited since then have increased unfortunately)..

Sometimes it's hard to believe that we live in 2015, soon to be 2016. There are still people out there whose mindset is still in the Dark Ages. This protest is based on bigotry and ignorance, and, quite frankly, old information. But it looks like Adam WILL be performing. Excited to read his description of his brand new show!! Sounds spectacular!

Sharing my comment posted yesterday on the petition of support for Adam: I signed under my "real name" but will leave it out here on the blog..

I've been a fan of this kind, lovely, generous, and mega-talented human being, better known as Adam Lambert, since his first days on American Idol in 2009, and right through today in the closing days of 2015.. I've followed his career since the very beginning, have attended many of his solo performances and those with the legendary group Queen as well.. My multi-generational family are ALL fans.. We've all attended a variety of his concerts over the years.. This includes family members who were pre-teens at the time they saw him.. There was nothing inappropriate happening on the stage with that particular all ages "family friendly" show, at a large state fair in the US.. Adam is ALWAYS respectful of the venue, the ages, the culture and the mores of the audience, and tailors his performance accordingly.. His years of experience since he first came onto the music scene in 2009, (not including his many previous years of musical theater, etc. beginning at the age of 10), have served him well and have given him the added polish and wisdom we see in his performances today.. As for the fact that he is gay, awesome!! To anyone who feels his presence at this happy and festive celebration of the New Year is somehow unwelcome, I say this: his sexual orientation is irrelevant to whether or not he should be "allowed" to appear on the show.. He is a proud gay man. That should be respected.. He is who he is.. So proud of him for being open and honest. That's what matters to me.. And that he is an incredible entertainer.. Singapore is SO fortunate to have Adam Lambert as a respected worldwide superstar and guest performer this year.. Wish I could be there to enjoy and celebrate with you!!!! Best Wishes & Happy New Year to Adam Lambert and the fortunate people of Singapore.. I close with this quote from Adam Lambert, whose philosophy is this: “Love overcomes hate. Love has no color. Love has no orientation. All is love.” ~ Adam
Signed with love, admiration and respect for Adam Lambert ~ @glitzylady

I am personally insulted by Singapore's reaction and I feel based upon that Adam should refuse to perform there. However, I grant you there are many more fans that enemies there. Still, what concerns me more than anything else is Adam's safety. In this day and age, you simply cannot be too careful. There are a lot of fanatic individuals out there who lack good judgment and going to a country where there is this level of disrespect, I don't know. As a fan, I feel this is much too risky of a situation for Adam and I'd hope his management team would consider canceling this gig based upon safety issues alone. Just saying, Adam is irreplaceable.

It's my understanding after reading many other statements of support from many other sources that the negativity and homophobia expressed in the original petition is not shared by all in Singapore.. There are a great many people living there who are disgusted and appalled by the attempt to have Adam removed from the Celebrate 2016 New Years Eve festivities..

I do understand your concerns as right now we live in a world of uncertainty and terrorism.. The most recent being still so fresh in our minds and hearts..

Let us also remember that Adam was subjected to this treatment and disrespect here in the US not so many years ago...

I was encouraged by the groundswell of support for Adam expressed on the "counter petition". It seemed to be signed not only by fans of Adam's but by those who condemn homophobia and other forms of discrimination.. Some even mentioned that they are not necessarily fans of Adam's or of his music but they are disgusted by the tone and intent of the original petition, and wanted to have their say, and to give Adam their support..

Adam continues to be a catalyst for change, for enlightenment, and has the courage and the "voice" to stand for what he believes in.. May it never be silenced..

My continued thanks to him for being who he is and I also send prayers for his continued safety..

Adam is indeed irreplaceable.

Well, it has definitely been an uphill battle, and I know that Adam is standing right of the forefront of a lot of the struggle fielding a lot of annoying questions and, yes, he's had to tough out a considerable amount of criticism here in the U.S. I just admire his strength and courage because I know that every day he has to get out there and just stand strong no matter what, and also do it with a certain amount of humor and grace. If it were me I'd be a lot more angry, harsh and defensive in response. Still, given this petition and the controversy if Adam's management doesn't cancel this event, I do hope that they put additional security out there. I just think you have to be careful and I think Adam tends to be so casual and modest that he doesn't insist the way he should. I'll bet Brian May, in a situation where he was at risk, wouldn't think twice about demanding additional security.

Well said, glitzy. You said it perfectly. The sheer absurdity that these antiquated attitudes even exist anymore is mind-boggling. Unfortunately, fear and bigotry are still alive and well in some places.

Catherine, I totally understand your concerns, BUT:

Adam now has a golden opportunity to touch the hearts and minds of people who have never seen him. He has another chance to make a significant change.

To cancel the show out of indignation would only reflect badly on him. To stand up, strong and proud, and perform openly and sincerely, is his best strategy, IMO

I just hope he sings "There I Said It."

I'll go sign the supporting petion now, but I am just wondering who asked us not to comment on the original petition.

I just think it is very brave of Adam to go out there even knowing that there could be hecklers or people out to hurt him. It takes a great deal of strength and courage to stand up to prejudice and he definitely has those qualities to his credit.

I've only heard about this today and jumped on the for Adam petition page to sign it and put my 2 cents worth in. It really is a shame though that there a people who can be so easily influenced by the opinions of others that they adopt those opinions because they can't form their own. Can't process through progressive change and see things through the eyes of someone who may be a little different and struggling. That under it all we are all the same, want the same things in life, deserve the same respect that all humans desire and need.

I chose to see the positive outcome to all of this. All of this Anti-Adam petition to oust him will only bring about more attention in a good way for Adam as their additude is so very negative and offensive that it will bring to light that these issues are still bouncing around in some corners of the world here and there. The very same culture that wants him out clearly has its supporters that are open minded and want him to stay put! This has effectively opened some dialogue that is so obviously needed with the people of Singapore, that can only be a good thing. The more its openly discussed the more change can come about. Adam can most assuredly help with bringing about a positive change. So in actuality said petition will not have the outcome the naysayers want. Adam will still be performing, spreading his charm, slaying the masses.

I will even go sofar as to say that some of those naysayers will actually find themselves enjoying the miracle that is Adam. I mean come on resistance is futile. In my book it's all good.......

Behind Adam is the strength and determination of every fan who loves and supports him...One by one we are strong, all together we're invinstible ^)^

9:48 AM EST., 11/29/2015.....Just checked out the petition FOR ADAM at the above link and found it to be closed at 24,742 votes....declaring victory over the petition against Adam which "struggled to reach 20.000... even though it ran longer".
Hurray for our side!

BTW, I read somewhere that there were two petitions FOR ADAM. Anyone know if the other one is closed or open, and how many votes it has garnered?
